자생수목그루터기를 재활용한 에코녹화공법 개발연구(III) (A Study on Development of Eco-revegetation Measures Using Remnant Root-stock of Native Trees(III))

  • 폐기물로 처리되고 있는 자생수목 그루터기를 재활용하여 에코녹화공법을 개발하기 위하여 전남 함평군 월야면에 위치한 호남대학교 부속농장에 모니터링 시험구를 2001년 11월에 설치하였다. 시험기간은 2001년 11월부터 2003년 10월까지였으며, 모니터링 시험구 조사는 2002년 10월, 2003년 9월, 총 2회 실시하였다. 모니터링 시험에서 그루터기의 맹아우세수종 선발 수간 절지길이 차이 및 방부처리 유무에 따른 생장량 변화, 식재시기 및 식재본수에 따른 활착율을 조사하였다. 자생수목 그루터기 모니터링 시험결과는 다음과 같다. 90% 이상 활착율을 나타낸 수종은 공시수종 총 20종 중 10종으로 느티나무, 때죽나무, 비목나무, 산딸나무, 상수리나무, 야광나무, 참느릅나무, 털야광나무, 팽나무, 장구밥나무 였다. 수간절지길이에 따른 생장량은 수간길이 10cm처리구보다 35cm처리구에서 우세하게 나타났고, 근원직경에 대한 뿌리규격에 따른 생장량은 3배(폭)${\times}$5배(깊이)와 5배(폭)${\times}$5배(깊이)에서 우세하게 나타났다. 수간절지부 방부처리 유무에 따른 생장량은 방부처리구의 수종에서 우세하게 나타났고, 식재시기에 따른 공시수종의 생장량은 생리휴면기인 늦가을(11월)에 식재한 그루터기에서 우세하게 나타났으며, 다음으로 초봄(3월), 늦봄(5월) 식재 순이었다.

제주도 노지재배 감귤원 내 귤굴나방 월동태 구명 (Study on the over-wintering stage of citrus leaf miner Phyllocnistis citrella Stainton(Lepidoptera: Gracillariidae) in Jeju, Korea)

  • 귤굴나방은 제주도 감귤원에서 경제적으로 중요한 해충이지만, 상대적으로 월동생태와 관련된 연구는 부족하다. 본 연구에서는 귤굴나방이 월동과 관련하여 다음 해초기개체군 발생과 어떻게 연결되는지 발육단계별 저온 실내실험과 야외실험 및 노지 감귤원 포장조사를 통하여 구명하였다. 연구 결과, 동일한 저온 조건에서 귤굴나방의 발육단계에 따라 생존기간의 유의한 차이가 있었으며 성충이 번데기보다 더 오래 생존하는 것으로 나타났다. 귤굴나방 성충과 번데기를 야외 감귤원에 접종한 후 생존기간을 평가한 결과, 서귀포지역에서 성충은 다음 해 3월 24일까지 생존하였다. 이는 일반적으로 서귀포지역의 봄순 발아가 3월 중순에 시작된다는 사실을 고려했을 때 성충태로 월동한 귤굴나방이 다음 해 초기개체군을 형성할 가능성이 높다는 것을 의미한다. 반면에 번데기의 경우 제주시와 서귀포에서 1월을 넘기지 못하고 모두 사망하였다. 또한, 노지 감귤원 내 귤굴나방 발육단계별 밀도조사에서 다음 해 봄까지 노지 감귤원에서 생존한 번데기는 없었던 반면 성충은 모든 과원에서 지속적으로 발견되었다. 따라서 결과를 종합하여 판단해 볼 때, 제주도의 노지 감귤원에서 귤굴나방은 성충태로 월동하는 것으로 판단되며, 번데기의 경우 신초에 형성된 용방에서만 생존할 수 있다는 제약이 있기 때문에 겨울철 동해 피해를 받기 쉬운 신초에서 월동 후 다음 해 초기개체군 형성에 기여하는 것은 쉽지 않을 것으로 판단된다.

  • Present family pattern of Korean society has been changed into nuclear family pattern based on the married couple from traditional expanded family pattern. As the entire social consciousness has been changed into private disposition, the number of independent household for 1 person has increases. Also, as the delivery age of first child became late according to the elongation of average period for the national education, the increment of average age for the first marriage and women's participation in the society, the family pattern of married couple lasts longer than used to be. Like this, considering the family formed period comprised from a household for 1 person to a household for 1married couple and senescence increase, as any response is inevitable for the requirement of residential space where 1~2 dwellers' life can be accepted economic and functionally within smaller scaled space, development and research on a plan system(flexible-typed plan) increasing the degree of freedom is required in developing plan of unit household. In the study for this, considering the change of population and social structure, I suggest the method in developing economic design responding to the differentiation, designing the change of support-system and infill-system based on the systemic comprehension about the residing environment in the family formation period and the research for main life pattern and residing environment in the family formation period in the present city life. I will set (family) composing system, develop basic and mixing typed standard model and establish the stage of applied development for the development of economic design.

Changes in Acute Poststreptococcal Glomerulonephritis: An Observation Study at a Single Korean Hospital Over Two Decades

  • Purpose: The incidence of acute poststreptococcal glomerulonephritis (APSGN) in Korea has changed. This study aimed to evaluate the epidemiological and clinical changes of APSGN observed in a single Korean institution over two decades. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the data of 99 children (0-15 years of age) who were admitted to our institution with APSGN between 1987 and 2013. The patients were selected based on the depression of serum complement 3 (C3, <70 mg/dL) and elevated titer of antistreptolysin O (ASO, >250 IU/dL) as evidence of previous streptococcal infection. Results: In the 99 patients, the mean age was $8.3{\pm}2.7$ years, and the male-to-female ratio was 2.2:1 (66:30). The annual number of cases fluctuated markedly, and most cases were observed during the late autumn and winter months. However, there have been few cases reported in the past 5 years. Clinical manifestations at presentation, including hypertension and generalized oedema, and the duration of hospitalization were higher and longer in patients admitted during the first half of the study period than during the most recent half-period, suggesting a more severe clinical course in the former group. Conclusions: APSGN has become a rare disease in Korea with a trend towards a less severe clinical course. This finding suggests that the prevalence of infection-related immune-mediated diseases could change over-time, together with environmental and possibly pathogen-host relationship changes.

경주 및 포항 지역에서 발생한 쯔쯔가무시병에 관한 연구 - 항체 유무를 중심으로 - (A Case-Control, Restrospective Study on Tsutsugamushi Disease Occurred in Gyeongju and Pohang Provinces, Korea)

  • Objectives: Tsutsugamushi disease is one of the most significant acute febrile illnesses, increasing in frequency of occurrence during the late autumn in rural areas of Korea. Methods: I have conducted a case-control study on 30 cases who had the fever as a chief complaint, then had been ruled out as having the Tsutsugamushi disease. Data was collected retrospectively by review of chart regarding their general characteristics, clinical and laboratory findings, then was analysed by chi-test. Results: Of 30 cases, 16 cases were seropositive and 14 cases were seronegative against O. tsutsugamushi. Of seropositive for tsutsugamushi disease, 56.3% were female; 37.5% were in their seventies; 50.0% were farmers; 62,6% had chances of exposure to fields or mountains. And 75.0% occurred in November. The main symptoms and signs were fever and chill(100.0%), headache(75.0%). weakness and fatigue(93.8%), and eschar(68.8%). The characteristic laboratory findings were elevated AST(50.0%), ALT(62.5%), and abnormal urinalysis(56.3%). On the other hand, of seronegative cases, 57.1% were male; 50.0% were in their fifties; 42.9% were farmers; 57.2% had chances of exposure to fields or mountains. And 71.4% occurred in November. The symptoms and signs were fever and chill(100.0%), headache(85.7%), eschar(64.3%). weakness, fatigue and skin(57.1%). The laboratory findings were elevated AST(71.4%) and ALT(64.3%), and abnormal urinalysis(42.9%). However, there were no significant differences between the seropositive and seronegative cases(P>.05). Conclusions: Acute febrile community inhabitants who have the epidemiological, clinical as well as laboratory features should be focused upon for the early diagnosis and treatment for tsutsugamushi disease whether or not possessing the serological antibody against O. tsutsugamushi.

한국의 남해안과 서해안에 생육하는 지충이(Sargassum thunbergii)의 착생 해조류의 종조성 (Epiphytic Algae Growing on Sargassum thunbergii in Southern and Western Coasts of Korea)

  • 갈조류 지충이의 표면에 부착하는 착생해조류의 종수, 풍부도, 부착위치 및 기능형을 조사하기 위하여 남해안 9개 무인도와 서해안의 격포 해안에서 2001년 여름에 지충이를 채취하였다. 지충이에 착생하는 해조류는 총 25종이 동정되었는데, 분류군 별로는 녹조류 6종(24%), 갈조류 2종(8%), 홍조류 17종(68%) 이었고 남해군의 장고섬, 노루섬, 소목과도에서 생육하는 지충이에 가장 많은 9종이 착생하였다. 착생 해조류 중에서 애기가시덤불, 구멍갈파래, 가위갯쇠털의 순으로 출현 빈도가 높았으며 애기가시덤불은 모든 해안에서 발견되었다. 또한 애기가시덤불, 두갈래사슬풀, 애기서실은 지충이 엽체의 하부에, 붉은실류는 상부에 부착하여 생육하였다. 기능형으로는 막상형 8%, 사상형 52%, 성긴분지형 32%, 유절석회조형 8%가 존재하였으며 각상형과 혁질형 해조류는 없었다. 위다년생인 지충이의 착생해조류는 봄과 여름에 관찰되는 바위두룩과 같은 종이나 사상형의 일년생 해조류가 주로 나타났으며, 유성생식을 하는 이들은 포자생성 및 방출을 숙주 해조류인 지충이의 엽체가 탈락되는 늦가을 이전에 일어난다.

GloSea5 모형의 6개월 장기 기후 예측성 검증 (Assessment of 6-Month Lead Prediction Skill of the GloSea5 Hindcast Experiment)

  • This study explores the 6-month lead prediction skill of several climate indices that influence on East Asian climate in the GloSea5 hindcast experiment. Such indices include Nino3.4, Indian Ocean Diploe (IOD), Arctic Oscillation (AO), various summer and winter Asian monsoon indices. The model's prediction skill of these indices is evaluated by computing the anomaly correlation coefficient (ACC) and mean squared skill score (MSSS) for ensemble mean values over the period of 1996~2009. In general, climate indices that have low seasonal variability are predicted well. For example, in terms of ACC, Nino3.4 index is predicted well at least 6 months in advance. The IOD index is also well predicted in late summer and autumn. This contrasts with the prediction skill of AO index which shows essentially no skill beyond a few months except in February and August. Both summer and winter Asian monsoon indices are also poorly predicted. An exception is the Western North Pacific Monsoon (WNPM) index that exhibits a prediction skill up to 4- to 6-month lead time. However, when MSSS is considered, most climate indices, except Nino3.4 index, show a negligible prediction skill, indicating that conditional bias is significant in the model. These results are only weakly sensitive to the number of ensemble members.

한강하류의 환경학적 연구 -VII. 식물플랑크톤군집의 장기간 변화와 전망- (Environmental Studies in the Lower Part of the Han River -VII. Long Term Variations and Prospect of the Phytoplankton Community-)

  • The literature review on the dynamics of the phytoplankton communities in terms of species composition, standing crops, abundant species and dominant species in the lower part of the Han River from 1940s to 2000s was conducted for the prospective prediction of their succession patterns. Total of 326 taxa were identified and they belonged to 47 blue-green algae, 139 green algae, 12 euglenoids, 126 diatoms, 6 din flagellates and 2 silicoflagellates. Composition of phytoplankton communities were 83.6% diatoms, 10.5% blue-green algae and 5.3% green algae in the middle of 1960s, whereas those were 43.2% diatoms, 40.7% green algae and 13.6% blue-green algae in the 1990s. Before 1990s, Synedra ulna, Melosira varians, Cymbella tumida, Synedra acus, Cymbella ventricosa, Navicula cryptocephala, Nitzschia palea, Aulacoseira granulata, Gomphonema parvulum and Cymbella affinis were most frequent, while those after 1990 were Asterionella formosa, Asterionella gracillima, Aulacoseira granulate, Aulacoseira granulata var. angustissima, Chlorella vulgare, Fragilaria crotonensis and Synedra ulna. Phytoplankton blooms were frequent from winter to the late spring and rare in summer due to heavy rain and discharge. Seasonal variations of the dominant species were fairly obvious; Asterionella gracillima and Aulacoseira granulata in spring, Aulacoseira granulate and Aulacoseira granulate var. angustissima in summer and autumn, Asterionella gracillima and Stephan discus hantzschii in winter. Recently blue-green algae, Microcystis, Aphanocapsa, Dactylococcopsis have been more abundant than those of the previous reports. Based on the current situations, Stephan discus hantzschii f. tennis, Asterionella gracillima, Aulacoseira granulate and blue-green algae will be more abundant and blooms of those species will be more frequent.

가을철 빙권 조건을 활용한 겨울철 역학 계절 예측시스템의 개발 (Development of Dynamical Seasonal Prediction System for Northern Winter using the Cryospheric Condition of Late Autumn)

  • In recent several years, East Asia, Europe and North America have suffered successive cold winters and a number of historical records on the extreme weathers are replaced with new record-breaking cold events. As a possible explanation, several studies suggested that cryospheric conditions of Northern Hemisphere (NH), i.e. Arctic sea-ice and snow cover over northern part of major continents, are changing significantly and now play an active role for modulating midlatitude atmospheric circulation patterns that could bring cold winters for some regions in midlatitude. In this study, a dynamical seasonal prediction system for NH winter is newly developed using the snow depth initialization technique and statistically predicted sea-ice boundary condition. Since the snow depth shows largest variability in October, entire period of October has been utilized as a training period for the land surface initialization and model land surface during the period is continuously forced by the observed daily atmospheric conditions and snow depths. A simple persistent anomaly decaying toward an averaged sea-ice condition has been used for the statistical prediction of sea-ice boundary conditions. The constructed dynamical prediction system has been tested for winter 2012/13 starting at November 1 using 16 different initial conditions and the results are discussed. Implications and a future direction for further development are also described.

제주지역 지표 오존 농도의 시.공간적 분포 특성 (The Characteristics of Temporal and Spatial Distribution of Surface Ozone Concentration in Jeju Island)

  • This study has been performed to clarify the characteristics of temporal and spatial distribution of surface ozone concentration over Jeju Island, one of the cleanest areas in Korea with low emissions of air pollutants. Ozone data are monitored at four sites in Jeju Island. These monitoring sites are located at two urban area(referred to Ido and Donghong), coastal area(Gosan site) and forest site(Chuna site). Ozone data has been routinely collected at these sites for the late four years. The patterns of seasonal cycle of ozone concentrations at all stations show the bimodal with the peaks on spring and autumn and a significant summer minimum. However, the patterns of diurnal variations at rural station, i.e., Gosan and Chuna sites are considerably different to those at urban stations such as Ido and Donghong sites. The patterns of $\DeltaO_3$ variations are very similar with those of monthly mean ozone concentrations and $\DeltaO_3$ values are exceeded 30 ppb, at urban stations. This may be that urban stations are more influenced by local photochemical reactions rather than rural stations. In order to assess the potential roles of meteorological parameters on ozone formation, the meteorological parameters, such as radiation, temperature, and wind are monitored together with ozone concentrations at all stations. The relationships of meteorological parameters to the corresponding ozone concentration are found to be insignificant in Jeju Island. However, at Gosan and Donghong stations, when the sea breeze blew toward the station, the ozone concentration is considerably increased.
