마이크로 금형 제작을 위한 PET의 엑시머 레이저 어블레이션 - 퓨리에 광학을 이용한 가공 단면 형상의 제어 - (The excimer laser ablation of PET for micro-mold insert - The control of cross sectional shape using Fourier optics -)

  • The manufacturing process for the microfluidic device can include sequential steps such as master fabrication, electroforming, and injection molding. The laser ablation, using masks, has been applied to the fabrication of channels in microfluidic devices. In this research, an excimer laser was used to engrave microscopic channels on the surface of PET (polyethylene terephthalate), which shows a high absorption ratio for an excimer laser beam with a wavelength of 248 m. When 50-${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$-wide rectangular microscopic channels are ablated with a 500 ${\times}$ 500 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ square mask at a magnification ratio of 1/10, ditch-shaped defects were found in both corners. The measurement of laser beam intensity showed that a coherent image in the PET target caused such defects. Analysis based on the Fourier diffraction theory enabled the prediction of the coherent shape at the image surface as well as the diffraction beam shape between the mask and the image surface. It also showed that the diameter of the aperture had a dominant effect. The application of aperture with a diameter of less than 3 mm helped to eliminate such defects in the ablated rectangular microscopic channels on PET without such ditch-shaped defects.

GMA 용접에서 용접선 추적용 시각센서의 화상처리에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Image Processing of Visual Sensor for Weld Seam Tracking in GMA Welding)

  • In this study, we constructed a preview-sensing visual sensor system for weld seam tracking in GMA welding. The visual sensor consists of a CCD camera, a diode laser system with a cylindrical lens and a band-pass-filter to overcome the degrading of image due to spatters and/or arc light. To obtain weld joint position and edge points accurately from the captured image, we compared Hough transform method with central difference method. As a result, we present Hough transform method can more accurately extract the points and it can be applied to real time weld seam tracking. Image processing is carried out to extract straight lines that express laser stripe. After extracting the lines, weld joint position and edge points is determined by intersecting points of the lines. Although a spatter trace is in the image, it is possible to recognize the position of weld joint. Weld seam tracking was precisely implemented with adopting Hough transform method, and it is possible to track the weld seam in the case of offset angle is in the region of $\pm15^{\circ}$.

HUD용 다파장 레이저 광학부품 설계 및 분석 (Design analysis for Head-Up Display by multi-wavelength laser)

  • Head up display is in increasing demand for advanced devices in the modern luxury vehicles. It helps drivers focus on driving environment on the road. While HUD technology with LED has advanced, the brightness in daylight can be still an issue to be resolved. Laser light source is a possible solution to overcome the brightness problem and optimal optics design is required for the best performance. Sample design of optics is proposed and detail procedure of lens design evaluation is presented in this paper. The results were characterized by using a ray tracing method and qualitative analysis for spot and DEE is also presented. The overall error or image distortion remained in the target range of $25{\mu}m$ and the simulated image demonstrated possible use in the automotive applications.

  • Recently, the research on artificial retina for the blind is active. In this paper a new optical link method for the retinal prosthesis is proposed. Laser diode system was chosen to transfer image into the eye in this project and the new optical system was designed and evaluated. The use of laser diode array in artificial retina system makes system simple for lack of signal processing part inside of the eyeball. Designed optical system is enough to focus laser diode array on photodiode array in 20$\times$20 application.

비등속 이동물체의 표면 검사를 위한 3D 모델링 기술에 관한 연구 (A Study on a 3D Modeling for surface Inspection of a Moving Object)

  • 본 논문에서는 비등속 이동물체의 표면 검사를 위한 3차원 표면 모델링(modeling) 기법을 제안하였다. 레이저 라인을 물체에 조사하면 표면의 굴곡에 따라 라인에 휨 현상이 나타난다. 이를 분석하여 물체 표면에 대한 3차원 정보를 획득 할 수 있다. 기존의 단일 라인(single stripe) 기법의 정확성과 단일 프레임(single frame) 기법의 빠른 복원 속도의 장점을 모두 활용하기 위하여 멀티 레이저 라인 투사기법을 이용하였다. 정확한 레이저 라인의 추출을 위하여 이진화 및 채널별 에지 검출 기법을 소개하였고, 효과적인 레이저 각 라인의 라벨링 기법을 새로 제안하였다. 개별 3차원 복원 표면을 전체영상으로 합성하기 위해 영상간 특징점 매칭(matching)을 활용하여 동기화 정보를 획득하고 영상을 정합하였다. 본 알고리듬을 컨테이너 표면 데미지 검사에 활용하여 제안한 3차원 모델링 기술의 우수성을 확인하였다.

  • In this paper, the 3-D measurement method of moving object with a laser and one camera system for image processing method is presented. The method of segmentation image in conventional method, the error are generated by the threshold values. In this paper, to improve these problem for segmentation image, the calculation of weighting factor using brightness distribution by histogram of stored images are proposed. Therefore the image erosion and spread are improved, the correct and reliable informations can be measured. In this paper, the system of 3-D extracting information using the proposed algorithm can be applied to manufactory automation, building automation, security guard system, and detecting information system for all of the industry areas.

Research on Reconstruction Technology of Biofilm Surface Based on Image Stacking

  • Image stacking technique is one of the key techniques for complex surface reconstruction. The process includes sample collection, image processing, algorithm editing, surface reconstruction, and finally reaching reliable conclusions. Since this experiment is based on laser scanning confocal microscope to collect the original contour information of the sample, it is necessary to briefly introduce the relevant principle and operation method of laser scanning confocal microscope. After that, the original image is collected and processed, and the data is expanded by interpolation method. Meanwhile, several methods of surface reconstruction are listed. After comparing the advantages and disadvantages of each method, one-dimensional interpolation and volume rendering are finally used to reconstruct the 3D model. The experimental results show that the final 3d surface modeling is more consistent with the appearance information of the original samples. At the same time, the algorithm is simple and easy to understand, strong operability, and can meet the requirements of surface reconstruction of different types of samples.

  • In this study the theoretical minimum resolution analysis of an active vision system using laser range finder is performed for surrounding recognition and 3D data acquisition in unknown environment. The laser range finder consists of a slitted laser beam generator, a scanning mechanism, CCD camera, and a signal processing unit. A laser beam from laser source is slitted by a set of cylindrical lenses and the slitted laser beam is emitted up and down and rotates by the scanning mechanism. The image of laser beam reflected on the surface of an object is engraved on the CCD array. In the result, the resolution of range data in laser range finder is depend on distance between lens center of CCD camera and light emitter, view and beam angles, and parameters of CCD camera.

  • A light beam reflected from a machined surface generally containes information concerning about its surface roughness. This study examines and proposes a surface roughness measurement technique for on-machine measurement of machined surfaces. The technique is based on the measurement of a reflected laser beam pattern and the statistical analysis of its light intensity distribution. The surface roughness was found to be closely related to the standard deviation of the light intensity on the primary axis of the reflected pattern. An image acquisition device is made up of a laser diode, a half mirror, a screen, and a CCD camera. The exact image with the primary and secondary axes of a reflected laser beam pattern is calculated through such image processing algorithm as thresholding, edge detection, image rotation, segmentation, etc. A median filter and a surrounding light correction algorithm are improve the image quality and reduce the measuring error. Using the developed measuring device the effect of screen materials and workpiece and workpiece materials was investigated. Experimental results regarding to relatively high-quality surfaces machined by grinding, polishing, lapping processes have shown the measurement error is within 10% in the range of $0.1{mu}m~0.8{\mu}m R_q.$Therefore, the proposed method is thought to be effectively used when quick measurements is needed with workpieces fixed on the machine.

  • Planar laser-induced fluorescence(PLIF) has been widely used to obtain two dimensional fuel distribution. Acetone PLIF is chosen because fluorescence signal from acetone as a fluorescent tracer is less sensitive to oxygen quenching than other dopants. Acetone PLIF is applied to measure quantitative air excess ratio distribution in an engine fueled with LPG. Acetone is excited by KrF excimer laser (248nm) and its fluorescence image is acquired by ICCD camera with a cut-off filter to suppress Mie scattering from the laser light. For the purpose of quantifying PLIF signal, an image processing method including the correction of laser sheet beam profile is suggested. Raw images are divided by each intensity of laser energy and profile of laser sheet beam. Inhomogeneous fluorescence images scaled with the reference data, which is taken by a calibration process, are converted to air excess ratio distribution. This investigation shows instantaneous quantitative measurement of planar air excess ratio distribution for gaseous fuel.
