Pose Estimation with Binarized Multi-Scale Module

  • In this paper, we propose a binarized multi-scale module to accelerate the speed of the pose estimating deep neural network. Recently, deep learning is also used for fine-tuned tasks such as pose estimation. One of the best performing pose estimation methods is based on the usage of two neural networks where one computes the heat maps of the body parts and the other computes the part affinity fields between the body parts. However, the convolution filtering with a large kernel filter takes much time in this model. To accelerate the speed in this model, we propose to change the large kernel filters with binarized multi-scale modules. The large receptive field is captured by the multi-scale structure which also prevents the dropdown of the accuracy in the binarized module. The computation cost and number of parameters becomes small which results in increased speed performance.

  • 최근 스마트폰의 폭발적인 보급, IoT와 클라우드 컴퓨팅 기술의 고도화, 그리고 IoT 디바이스의 보편화로 대용량 스트리밍 센싱데이터가 출현하였다. 또한 이를 기반으로 데이터의 공유와 매쉬업 통해 새로운 데이터의 가치를 창출하기 위한 요구사항의 증대로 대용량 스트리밍 센싱데이터 환경에서 시맨틱웹 기술과의 접목에 관한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 하지만 데이터의 대용량성 스트리밍성으로 인해 새로운 지식을 도출하기 위한 지식 추론분야에서 많은 이슈들에 직면하고 있다. 이러한 배경하에, 본 논문에서는 IoT 환경에서 발생하는 대용량 스트리밍 센싱데이터를 시맨틱웹 기술로 처리하여 서비스하기 위해 RDFS 규칙기반 병렬추론 기법을 제시한다. 제안된 기법에서는 기존의 규칙추론 알고리즘인 Rete 알고리즘을 하둡프레임워크 맵리듀스를 통해 병렬로 수행하고, 공용 스토리지로서 하둡 데이터베이스인 HBase를 사용하여 데이터를 공유한다. 이를 위한 시스템을 구현하고, 대용량 스트리밍 센싱데이터인 기상청 AWS 관측데이터를 이용하여 제시된 기법에 대한 성능평가를 진행하고, 이를 입증한다.

Frequency Stabilization Method for Grid Integration of Large-scale Centralized Wind Farms via VSC-HVDC Technology

  • This work proposes a control method of frequency stabilization for grid integration of large-scale wind farms via the voltage source converter-based high-voltage direct current (VSC-HVDC) technology. First, the topology of grid integration of a large-scale wind farm via the VSC-HVDC link is provided, and simple control strategies for wind turbines, wind farm side VSC (WFVSC), and grid side VSC are presented. Second, a mathematical model between the phase angle of WFVSC and the frequency of the wind farm is established. The control principle of the large-scale wind power integrated system is analyzed in theory in accordance with the mathematical model. Third, frequency and AC voltage controllers of WFVSC are designed based on the mathematical model of the relationships between the phase angle of WFVSC and the frequency of the wind farm, and between the modulation index of WFVSC and the voltage of the wind farm. Corresponding controller structures are established by deriving a transfer function, and an optimization method for selecting the parameters of the frequency controller is presented. Finally, a case study is performed under different operating conditions by using the DIgSILENT/PowerFactory software. Results show that the proposed control method has good performance in the frequency stabilization of the large-scale wind power integrated system via the VSC-HVDC technology.

GIS 기법을 활용한 도시지역 상권 특성 분석 - 대형할인점과 전통시장을 중심으로 - (Analyzing Characteristic of Business District in Urban Area Using GIS Methods - Focused on Large-Scale Store and Traditional Market -)

  • 본 연구는 소상공인의 상권 활성화를 위해 경상남도 창원시 도시지역을 대상으로 GIS 기법을 활용하여 전통시장과 대형할인점의 상권 특성을 분석하였다. 전통시장과 대형할인점의 정보를 GIS로 구축한 후, Kernel 밀도 분석, Network analysis, Huff 확률모형 등 다양한 GIS 공간분석기법을 적용하였다. 전통시장의 공간특성은 대형할인점이 밀집된 지역에 위치하는 것으로 나타났다. 상권특성을 도출한 결과, 대형할인점을 이용하는 소비자가 157,071명으로 전통시장 59,953명보다 약 3배 많았다. 이러한 현상의 원인은 인구가 밀집되고 전통시장에 인접한 지역에 대형할인점이 위치하고 있기 때문으로 판단된다. 따라서 소상공인의 상권 활성화를 위해서는 대형할인점 입지선정에 대한 기준 및 규제가 마련되어야 할 것이다. 본 연구는 도시지역의 상권 특성을 공간적이고 정량적으로 도출하였다. 향후 소상공인 상권 활성화를 위한 기초적인 자료로 활용될 것이다.

수산물 유통마진과 유통성과 연구 -고등어 유통 사례를 중심으로 - (A Study of Fisheries Distribution Margin and Performance ; Focused on the case of Mackerel)

  • This study presents a comparative analysis on mackerel distribution process and price formation process, and investigation of price and margin between traditional markets and Large-scale discount store distribution channel. Through this, the study investigated distribution efficiency of each channel, and examined whether a difference of distribution efficiency leads to a difference of performance through the investigation of a difference of function and role between members of a wholesale market and vendor of Large scale discount store. The following are the results of this study. As a consequence of investigating supply and sum by distribution channel of mackerel, it appeared that mackerels shipped from port market are distributed into 9 consumption sites(Wholesale market, Large scale discount store, Institutional Food Service, etc.). In the comparison of distribution efficiency between traditional retail store and Large scale discount store 52.0% margin is formed in traditional retail store distribution channel and 43.1% margin is formed in Large scale discount store, and a distribution cost rate consists of 19.4% cost in a traditional retail store for fishery products and 18.1% cost in a Large-scale discount store. To analyze a difference of performance, the study examine a difference of role and function between vendor and Wholesale market company, wholesaler and middleman. Wholesale market company and middleman of wholesale market for consumer have slightly high or similar score in collection function, sorting function, evaluation function and financial function which are traditional and original. However, it was confirmed that vendor has a better score in other functions, that is, newly-demanded functions(ex : market frontier function, product development function, Integral Distribution Function, etc.).

실대형화재평가장치의 개발 및 안정화에 관한 연구 (The Study of Development and Calibration for the Real Scale Fire Test Facility)

  • 최근 화재와 관련된 연구가 활발해지면서 축소모형실험 등을 통한 연구가 진행되어 왔다. 그러나 실물화재 실험과의 직접적인 상관관계를 설명하기에는 충분하지 못하기 때문에 실물화재에 대한 관심이 증가되어 왔다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 산소소모율법을 적용한 10 MW급 라지스케일로리미터를 개발하였으며, 헵탄 풀 화재를 이용한 발열량 보정을 수행하였다. 그 결과 신뢰성 높은 보정결과를 얻었으며, 보다 진보적인 실물화재연구에 적용할 수 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

홈이 파진 평판 사이 난류유동의 대와동모사 (LES) (Large eddy simulation of turbulent flows in a grooved channel)

  • In this study, turbulent flows in a grooved channel are numerically investigated by Large Eddy Simulation (LES). Especially, a parametric study is carried out to study effects of length and depth of a groove on large-scale flow structures. For one test case, comparison of LES results with those of DNS reveals a good agreement even though the number of grid points of LES is only 6.5% of that of DNS. This confirms that LES is a suitable tool for a parametric study of turbulent flows. The subsequent parametric study using LES shows that the large-scale turbulent structures are significantly affected by the geometry of the groove. Especially, when the length of the groove is short such that the recirculation region occupies the entire groove, the turbulent flow in the groove becomes very weak in both mean and fluctuation quantities.

  • A large scale resonant column testing equipment is under development. The would-be equipment is aiming to test 150mm-diameter specimens, which can contain as large a grain size as 25mm. Such a large specimen is hardly excitated with the existing fixed-free end condition because the torsional force cannot be effectively coupled to the specimen. The specimen will be rather resonated with free-free condition and the scheme is implemented with a rotational bearing installed between coil-magnet exciter and base pedestal. Presently the equipment was assembled and is under calibration with a cylindrical brass specimen.

  • With the widespread demand from data-intensive tasks such as machine learning and large-scale databases, the amount of data processed in modern computing systems is increasing exponentially. Such data-intensive tasks require large amounts of memory to rapidly process and analyze massive data. However, existing computing system architectures face challenges when building large-scale memory owing to various structural issues such as CPU specifications. Moreover, large-scale memory may cause problems including memory overprovisioning. The Compute Express Link (CXL) allows computing nodes to use large amounts of memory while mitigating related problems. Hence, CXL is attracting great attention in industry and academia. We describe the overarching concepts underlying CXL and explore recent research trends in this technology.

  • Techniques for protein refolding from inclusion body are discussed in view of its engineering application to large scale protein purification. Among the techniques, dilution and dialysis are mainly utilized due to simple operation. Membrane reactor, gel filtration chromatography, and continuous tank operation are emerging tools for their process-scale possibility in refolding. Reaction engineering approaches could be used to analyze the kinetic behaviour in the process scale refolding reactor. The kinetic analysis is helpful in the optimization of refolding yield in the refolding reactor.
