한국의 보리 수집종에서 숙기와 내냉성과의 관련성 (Trait Association with Earliness and Winter Hardiness Within a Collection Korean Land Race Barleys)

  • 1. 전형적인 조숙성 재래종의 특성은 월동전에는 잎이 담녹색 광엽 직입이며 성숙시에는 화모이 짧고 직수이며 입중이 가볍다. 또한 내한성이 약한 재내종도 상기 조숙성 품종과 같은 특성을 지니고 있다. 이는 한숙성과 약한 내한성간에는 밀접한 관계가 있기 때문에 당연한 것으로 생각된다. 2. 강한 내한성과 관련된 특성은 않지 않으나 대체로 월동전에 포복형이거나 반포복형이며 엽색은 녹색 또는 암녹색을 띠며 협엽, 장간, 당숙인 경향이 있다. 2. 강한 내한성과 관련된 특성은 많지 않으나 대체로 월동전에 포복형이거나 반포복형이며 엽색은 녹색 또는 암록색을 띠며 협엽, 장간, 중숙인 경향이 있다. 3. 조숙성 집단에서 내한성이 강한 품종의 선발은 대단히 어렵고, 또한 매년 합리적인 내한성 검정을 실시하기란 극히 곤란하나, 본 내항성과 관련된 형질연구에서 중생인 재래종을 이용하므로서 내한성이 강한 품종이 선발가능성을 보여주고 있다. 4. 중생이며 내한성이 강한 품종과 관련이 있는 것으로 여겨지는 특성은 장망, 장수, 장립, 장간, 늘어진잎, 중간지엽폭 및 장, 중간화경장, 월동전의 반포복형 및 중간엽폭 등이며, 중생이며 내한성이 약한 지엽이 넓고, 월동전에 잎이 직입, 담록색, 광엽 등의 특성이 있다.

  • 경북 영양지역 재래종인 수비초와 칠성초, 청도지역 재래종인 풍각초에 역병 저항성을 도입하여 육성한 계통, 이중 하나에 바이러스 저항성을 도입하기 위하여 육성한 계통, 풍각 재래종에서 선발한 역병 저항성 계통의 역병에 대한 저항성을 유묘접종으로 다시 평가하였다. 육성계통들은 모두 역병에 고도의 저항성을 나타내었으며, 풍각재래(KC268)에서 선발한 계통들은 중도의 저항성을 나타내었다. 선발개체들을 옥외 묘상에 심고 그 위에 방충망을 씌워 종자를 증식 채종하였다. 이틀의 육종적 활용방안에 대하여 논하였다.

인삼 종자의 개갑률 향상을 위한 적정 수확시기 및 GA3 처리 효과 (Optimal Harvesting Time of Ginseng Seeds and Effect of Gibberellic Acid (GA3) Treatment for improving Stratification Rate of Ginseng (Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer) Seeds)

  • This study was performed to identify optimal harvesting time of ginseng seeds and to examine the effect of $GA_3$ treatment for improvement of seed stratification rate. Ginseng seeds harvested from Land race, Chunpoong and Yunpoong cultivar in July 20 were tested for stratification rate. It was shown that stratification rates of land race, Yunpoong and Chunpoong cultivar were 94.1%, 93.1%, and 82.6%, respectively. Seeds of Chunpoong cultivar harvested 10-15 days later showed a comparable stratification rate to that of Land race, indicating that late harvest of Chunpoong seeds is beneficial for the increase of stratification rate. The higher stratification rate was found in mature seeds (92.3%) than immature seeds (37.8%), both of which were harvested in July 20. Stratification rate of mature seeds harvested in July 15 was 87.5%, demonstrating optimal harvesting time of ginseng seeds with higher stratification rate is after mid-July. An exponential growth of endosperms of ginseng seeds was observed from early June to mid-June and then slow growth was observed. There was no obvious growth of embryos from fertilization to mid-August. After the this time, embryos quickly grew until late October. Thus, appropriate stratification control is essential during the period (from early September to late October) in order to optimize embryo growth and development. While no increase of stratification rate was observed in seeds treated with 50 ppm of $GA_3$, significant increases were observed in seeds treated with 100 ppm of $GA_3$. At this concentration of $GA_3$, the stratification rate of Land race, Chunpoong and Yunpoong cultivar was 95.0%, 95.3%, and 96.5%, respectively.

Geophysical investigations for deciding alignment of head race tunnel and location of lake tapping at Koyna hydroelectric project, Maharashtra, India

  • Continuous seismic refraction, reflection and echo-sounder surveys conducted at Koyna Project site provided geotechnical information which helped in choosing the alignment for Head race tunnel and in designing and choosing the site for Lake Tap. Seismic refraction survey both on land and in shallow water determined depths to bedrock and helped in inferring the bedrock quality. Seismic reflection survey mapped the subsurface stratigraphy with high resolution. Reservoir-bed and bedrock contours drawn from the results of the survey helped in choosing the tunnel alignment and the lake tap position cost effectively. It was inferred from the results of the survey that the geology and the quality of rock do not change unexpectedly around the site for extension of Head race tunnel and the lake tapping. The bedrock levels evaluated by seismic survey agreed remarkably well with those inferred in boreholes having Rock Quality Designation 90 percent or more.

Near-Isogenic Lines for Genes Conferring Hypersensitive Resistance to Bacterial Spot in Chili Pepper

  • In order to develop chili pepper bacterial spot resistant cultivars and near-isogenic lines (NILs) to prompt the molecular mapping of the resistance gene, we have run backcross breeding program since 1994. Two resistance genes against Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. vesicatoria Bs2 from Fla. XVR 3-25 and Bs3 from our breeding line 25-11-3-2, were introduced into a land race, Chilseongcho (abbreviated to Chilseong hereafter) with good fruit guality. We report here the testing of $BC_4F_3\;to\;BC_4F_5$. We found that $BC_4F_5$ lines of the crosses were homozygous with respect to the respective genes of introduction. The lines, in which Bs2 gene was introduced, were hypersensitively resistant to both race 1 and race 3 of X. axonopodis pv. vesicatoria, whereas, those in which Bs3 was introduced were resistant to race 1.

재래종 무와 갯무 추출물의 암세포주 증식 저해 활성 및 Glucosinolate와 Sulforaphane의 함량 (The Glucosinolate and Sulforaphane Contents of Land Race Radish and Wild Race Radish Extracts and Their Inhibititory Effects on Cancer Cell Lines)

  • 무의 유방암 및 폐암 세포주에 대한 증식 저해 활성을 분석하였고, 항암 관련 지표 물질로 알려진 glucosinolate의 함량 및 sulforaphane의 함량을 조사하였다. 유방암 세포주의 하나인 MCF-7 세포주를 이용한 CCK(cell counting kit) assay분석법을 사용하여 재래종 무와 갯무 추출물의 세포 증식 저해율을 조사한 결과, 재래종 무보다 갯무의 세포 증식 저해율이 높았으며, sulforaphane 함량에서도 갯무가 재래종 무보다 높은 것으로 나타났다. 폐암 세포주의 하나인 A-549 세포주를 이용한 세포 증식 저해율을 조사한 결과, 갯무가 재래종 무보다 높은 세포 증식 저해율을 보였으며, 총 glucosinolate함량에서도 갯무가 재래종 무보다 높은 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구를 통하여 갯무를 이용하여 재래종 무의 품질 특성을 개량할 수 있는 가능성을 제시하였다.

육성수조 내 북방전복, Haliotis discus hannai 치패 고밀도 중간양성 사육방식별 성장특성 (Growth Characteristics of Juvenile Abalone, Haliotis discus hannai by Reared Methods in order to High Density Intermediate Culture in Land-based Tank)

  • 본 연구는 북방전복 육상 수조 내 고밀도 중간양성 방법을 모색하기 위해 부착면적 확대를 위해 다단식 shelter 설치와 수조 내 중층 이상의 가두리를 설치하여 성장을 비교하고 아울러 전복류 육상 양성방법인 'shallow race way' 국내 도입 가능성을 조사하였다. Shelter 실험구는 PE (polyethylene) 재질의 shelter ($63{\times}98cm$) 1층형 (the single layer shelter, SLS), 2층형 (the double layer shelter, DLS), 3층형 (the triple layer shleter, TLS) 과 육상 가두리 양성방식 (the single layer shelter and net cage culture, SLSNC), 그리고 'shallow race way' 방식을 polyvinyl chloride (PVC)로 제작하여 고랑수로양성 (culture of the ditch raceway tank, CDRT)과 편평한 수로양성 (culture of the floor raceway tank, CFRT) 방식을 설정하였으며, 실험구는 모두 2반복으로 실시되었다. 각 실험구별 SLS 기준 60%밀도로 수용한 실험 전복 (최초 수용 시 평균각장 $25.19{\pm}0.50mm$, 중량 $1.93{\pm}0.14g$), 성장에서 각장의 절대성장율 (absolute growth rate, ARG), 일간성장율 (daily growth rate, DGR) 및 순간성장율 (specific growth rate, SGR) 과 중량의 증중률 (weight gain, WG), 일간증중률 (daily weight gain, DWG) 에서 SLSNC 제외한 모든 실험구가 유의적인 차이가 없었다. 그리고 생존율에서는 CDRT와 CFRT가 유의적으로 낮았다 (P < 0.05). 따라서 shelter를 이용하여 부착면적을 확대한 고밀도 전복치패 육상 중간육성 사육 시 단층과 다단층에서 성장과 생존율에서 차이가 없으며, 호주 등에서 사용되는 shelter 없는 'shallow race way'의 얇은 수심사육은 국내 북방전복 육상 중간양성 방식으로 도입하기에 적합하지 않는 것으로 판단된다.

  • In Faulkner's many works, most Mulattoes are represented as tragic characters who feel confused with their racial identity and are sacrificed by the Southern racism in the end. However, in Go Down, Moses Lucas Beauchamp is an exceptional mulatto in that he survives the Southern racism and achieves some dignity as a human. It is because he maintains the relationship with his family and environment as a skilled farmer. Although Southerners idealized their lives in plantations as nature-friendly and ecological way of life, plantation owners had little direct relationship with land as plantations were cultivated by black slaves' labor. Therefore, white landowners had little knowledge about cultivation and ecological awareness. Although Lucas Beauchamp is criticized as he has the strong will to power and patriarchal attitude, it is partly caused from endeavor to overcome the suppression as a black male whose masculinity is denied in the Southern society. In spite of his limitation, he shows the possibility to escape from the curse prevailing in the South, which abuses land and other races through the relationship with others and land. He has positive aspects in that he has genuine relationship with land and others and takes his responsibility for others, searching the most suitable way to survive as a black.

한국 재래종 및 야생종 대두의 Trypsion Inhibitor 변이 (Trypsin Inhibitor Variants in Korean Land Races and Wild Soybeans)

  • 1. Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis를 이용하여 국내외 재래종과 야생종 대두 계통들의 trypsin inhibitor의 변이를 규명하기 위하여 본 시험이 시도되었으며 1706계통의 한국산 재래종과 103계통의 한국 야생종콩, 그리고 167계통의 외래 재배종과 71계통의 외국 야생종 대두가 공시되었다. 2. Trypsin inhibitor를 함유하지 않은 ti/ti형과 Ti c/c형은 한국 재래종에서만 발견되었으며, Ti$^{*}$ c형을 Hymowitz도 일본 대두품종에서 보고한 바 있으나 그도 이 계통은 한국 도래종일 가능성이 크다고 보고 한 바 있다. 3. 한국기원의 콩에서 trypsin inhibitor에 관한 이형접합형의 출현빈도가 외국 기원 콩 계통에서 보다 비교적 높았으며, 재래종에서 3.6%(N=61)와 야생종에서 9.7%(N=10)이었으며 종합적으로 보아 중국, 일본 등의 대두에 비해 한국 기원의 콩이 가장 큰 변이를 나타내고 있음을 확인하였다.

동북(東北)아시아 유의 기원(起源)과 그 교류(交流)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) -$4{\sim}8$세기(世紀)를 중심(中心)으로- (A study on the origination and Transmission of Yu in Northeast Asia. -from the 4th Century to the 8th Century-)

  • Yu was a type of dress worn on the upper part of the body which was commonly used in Northeast Asia. It was originally used by the Northern race for the need of courtesy as well as protecting cold. It was believed that Yu in Northeast Asia, which was called Kaftan, was came from Scythai lived in North Eurasian land around the Black sea. Scythians were the first-formed horse-riding race in the world and their civilization influenced those of far Asiatic sector along the steppe route. As their power expanded, their costume culture transmitted to the East(China, Korea, Japan). The upper garment, Yu, was characterized by the left-sided collars, narrow sleeves belted at the waist to the length of the hip line and the tight trouser on the lower part, which we commonly called HoBok(胡服) style. 1. Yu in Northeast Asia was originated from the Eurasians, Scythian Culture. Being exchanged, active style costumes were widely used among Chinese, Koreans and Japanese throughout centuries' including $4{\sim}8$ century. 2. Chinese Yu had a style of wide-sleeves and right-sided collars. The traditional costumes of Han race are consisted of wide-sleeved Yu on the upper and long-skirt on the lower part of the body. Before the adoptation of HoBok during reign of King Jo Mooryung in 307. B.C., HoBok style had already found in the remains since the Sang period. There were various names among Yu during the Han period. Seup, Sean Eui, Kye, Kyu were one of the styles and several names were meant for collar and sleeves. During $4{\sim}8$ centuries, clothes of right-sided collar were found, superior to that of left-sided and narrow sleeves were widely used both the royal and the humble. Various styles of decoration were seen in Yu around neck, back and sleeves comparing other nations. 3. Yu, in Korea, was typical style of Northern-bound HoBok. Both men and women had similarity in Yu style, narrow sleeves, left-sided collar, belted at the waist and to the length of hip line. Influenced by Han race, in the $4th{\sim}8th$ centuries, dual system of collar was found. But we cannot see major change in Yu and finally was connected to the present. 4. The original design of the Japanese costumes was not similar to that of Northern nomadic hunting race, which was suitable for horse-riding activities. Owing to the climates along the island, we could see various conditions ranging from the cold and to the warm. Influenced by the climates, pulling over the neck(Pancho style) were major design in Japan. As Korea was advanced earlier than Japan, Korean landed Japanese territory showing clothes. So primitive costumes had changes in style. During the $4th{\sim}8th$ period. The Korean mode was found in Haniwa (which was built to make sacrifices to the dead King) and costumes in Jeong Chang Won. Among the costumes in Jeong Chang Won, we put 3 or more costumes to the category of Yu characterizing elements of Korea and Tang period. From the $4th{\sim}8th$ century, China, Korea, Japan fell into the same cultural category, Scythai. Styles in Yu among three nations, we saw little differences, basically along times. Originated from the West Asia, Yu was transmitted to the far East changing Chinese costumes, Koreans melted it into the traditional elements and then influenced Japan.
