  • Fluorescent lamps are widely accepted to energy efficient commercial lighting applications. In designing a fluorescent lamp system, a ballast design heavily relies on the characteristic of a fluorescent lamp under consideration. Especially, at startup time, the transient characteristic of a fluorescent lamp puts much tighter specification of a design. In this paper, based on the transient characteristic at the startup time, a transient behavioral model of a fluorescent lamp is presented with an equivalent circuit. The model is applicable to the wide range of fluorescent lamps provided by different manufacturers. The experimental results are compared with the results provided by PSPICE simulation. The result shows the model is effective In practice. As a result, we could identify more accurate startup constraints to decide the design of either an electro mechanical or an electronic ballast.

  • LEDs, compared to conventional light sources, have many advantages and their applications are rapidly expanding, especially in areas such as back-lights for LCD. In this paper, we propose a new LED lamp structure suitable for applications requiring a low power. In the proposed LED lamp structures, LED chips are mounted on a transparent polycarbonate plate, and thus photons are transmitted through the both sides of the plate. The copper layer deposited on the polycarbonate plate is patterned to form circuit patten and the chip mount pad, on which LED chips are mounted. We speculate that our proposed LED lamp structures may be used as a type of plate light source.

  • If a fluorescent lamp be used too much time, the filmy part of electronic emission in the lane that is attached near the tube of the cathode brings about blacking. Luminance output and luminous efficiency are decreased. So, it's necessary to replace it. if the user doesn't replace the lamp for a long time, it causes overvoltage in the lamp. Therefore, the filament might be overheated. Even the socket of the lamp might catch on fire. In this paper gives development model of the fluorescent lighting equipment which has ramp shift timely display device.

  • In this paper, a low wattage high frequency operation electronic ballast for double ended 70W metal halide lamp has been investigated As an input source of the proposed ballast, 220V, 60 Hz ac voltage is used and is converted high frequency ac voltage by power processing system. To prevent a physical destruction of the lamp from acoustic resonance phenorrenon, the proposed ballast sLWlies alternating voltage of 22kHz frequency to a metal halide lamp. It shows sorre efficacious result that reduce the start up tiIre of lamp and electric power consumption. By testing the proposed ballast, lamp voltage and lamp current are 155Vpeak, O.64A, respectively. Lamp luminous flux is 5300lm with 82W input power and ballast efficiency is 64.63 Im/w. The average starting tiIre and restriking tiIre of lamp are 3.9 and 4.5 minutes, respectively.tively.

  • In this paper, improved lamp type ownizer( ILO ), which utilizes the superposition of lamp type ownizer( LO ) and surface discharge operation, is designoo and manufactured for the purpose of characteristic improverrent of an LO employoo for installation of environrrent improverrent and good health using Ultraviolet(U.V.) photochemical reactions Irethoc1s. The ownizer consists of 2 types( LO and ILO ), and owne concentration, owne generation and owne yield were investigated in accordance with discharge power and quantity of suwlioo gas. The results of owne concentration, owne generation and owne yield were ILO > LO. So, owne generation characteristics of the lamp type ownizer were improved. At a discharge power of 19[W], owne concentration, owne generation, and owne yield of the ILO are each improvoo than LO 124[%] at the gas flow $1[\ell/min]$ and 143[%] at the gas flow $1[\ell/min]$. The maximum values of owne concentration, owne generation and owne yield were found as 712[ppm], 128[mg/h] and 6750[mg/kWh] respectively.tively.

  • In a design of DC ballast for fluorescent lamp, pre-stage of DC-DC converter is required to keep the constant output lumen performance regardless of variable DC input voltage. In this paper, flyback topology is used for optimum performance of 32W lamp, and various important design points for successful operation over the whole operating range are described.
