The spaced dentition is a common clinical finding. The careful analysis of clinically spaced dentition is a necessity for effective treatment planning. Spaced dentition often exists in the presence of intact teeth. Therefore, special care should be taken in order to obtain the most successful esthetic effect and to prevent overtreatment as well. The aesthetic restorative dental treatment using the porcelain laminate veneers is getting more popular than the complex orthodontic treatment, and prosthetic solutions that require sacrifice of sound tooth structure. The physical strength of porcelain laminate veneers is not as good as porcelain fused metal crowns, and more researches are needed in the field of bonding between composite cement and porcelain laminate veneer. However, the esthetic results from this unprepared porcelain laminate veneers were satisfactory with Authentic (Ceramay, Germany) pressable ceramic technique and resin cement (Rely X Veneer, 3M). This article deals with 2 cases of unprepared porcelain laminate veneers on anterior teeth.
The present paper is concerned with the optimal control and/or design of symmetric and antisymmetric composite laminate with two piezoelectric layers bonded to the opposite surfaces of the laminate, and placed symmetrically with respect to the middle plane. For the optimal control problem, Liapunov-Bellman theory is used to minimize the dynamic response of the laminate. The dynamic response of the laminate comprises a weight sum of the control objective (the total vibrational energy) and a penalty functional including the control force. Simultaneously with the active control, thicknesses and the orientation angles of layers are taken as design variables to achieve optimum design. The formulation is based on various plate theories for various boundary conditions. Explicit solutions for the control function and controlled deflections are obtained in forms of double series. Numerical results are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control and design mechanism, and to investigate the effects of various laminate parameters on the control and design process.
In this research, buckling and free vibration of rectangular polymeric laminate reinforced by graphene sheets are investigated. Various patterns are considered for augmentation of each laminate. Critical buckling load is evaluated for different parameters, including boundary conditions, reinforcement pattern, loading regime, and laminate geometric states. Furthermore, vibration analysis is investigated for square laminate. Elastic properties of the composite are calculated using a combination of both molecular dynamics (MD) and the rule of mixture (MR). Kinematics of the plate is approximated based on the first shear deformation theory (FSDT). The current analysis is performed based on the energy method. For the numerical investigation, Ritz method is applied, and for shape functions, Chebyshev polynomials are utilized. It is found that the number of layers is effective on the buckling load and natural frequency of laminates which made from non-uniform layers.

The present study dealt with the relationships among the interfacial shear strength, the thickness of interfacial reaction layer and the impact value of $Nb/MoSi_2$ laminate composites. In addition, the tensile test was conducted to evaluate the fracture strain of $Nb/MoSi_2$ laminate composites. To change the thickness of the reaction layer, $Nb/MoSi_2$ laminate composites alternating sintered MoSi2 layers and Nb foils were fabricated as the parameter of hot press temperature. It has been found that the growth of the reaction layer increases the interfacial shear strength and decreases the impact value by localizing a plastic deformation of Nb foil. There also exist appropriate shear strength and the thickness of the reaction layer, which are capable of maximizing the fracture energy of $Nb/MoSi_2$.
The strength of ceramic was improved by lamination by suppressing the propagation of cracks with compressive residual stress in the face layer of the laminate. Hot pressed SiAlON+SiC/SiC/SiAlON+SiC laminate discs were fabricated for tailored residual stress. The residual stress in this laminate was studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD). There was considerable compressive residual stress in the face layer. A Finite Element Analysis (FEA) was performed to support the measured XRD results and to determine the stress field in the laminate. The residual stress measured by XRD had satisfactory agreement with the analytically calculated and FEA values. The measured value by XRD was -385 ${\pm}$ 20 MPa over most of the face layer. The calculated and FEA values were -386 MPa and -371MPa, respectively. FEA also showed significantly modified stresses and the maximum tensile stress near the edge region which are possible crack generators in the presence of flaws or contact damage.
The structural stiffness, strength and stability on the bodyshell and floor structures of the Korean Low Floor Bus composed of laminate, sandwich panels and metal reinforced frame were evaluated. The laminate composite panel and facesheet of sandwich panel were made of WR580/NF4000 glass fabric/epoxy laminate, while aluminum honeycomb or balsa was applied to the core materials of the sandwich panel. A finite element analysis was used to verify the basic design requirements of the bodyshell and the floor structure. The use of aluminum reinforced frame and honeycomb core was beneficial for weight saving and structural performance. The symmetry of the outer and inner facesheet thickness of sandwich panels did not affect the structural integrity. The structural strength of the panels was evaluated using Von-Mises criterion for metal structures and total laminate approach criterion for composite structures. All stress component of the bodyshell and floor structures were safely located below the failure stresses. The total laminate approach is recommended to predict the failure of hybrid sandwich composite structures at the stage of the basic design.

Laminate tooling process is a fast and simple method to make metal tools directly for various molding processes such as injection molding in rapid prototyping field. Metal sheets are usually cut, stacked, aligned and joined with brazing or soldering. Through the joining process, all of the metal sheet layers should be rigidly joined. When joining process parameters are not appropriate, there would be defects in the layers. Among various types of defects, non-bonded gaps of the tool surface are of great importance, because they directly affect the surface quality and dimensional accuracy of the final products. If a laminate tool with defects has to be abandoned, it could lead to great loss of time and cost. Therefore a repair method for non-bonded gaps of the surface is essential and has important meaning for rapid prototyping. In this study, a rapid laminate tooling system composed of a CO2 laser, a furnace, and a milling machine was developed. Metal sheets were joined by furnace brazing, dip soldering and adhesive bonding. Joined laminate tools were machined by a high-speed milling machine to improve surface quality. Also, repair brazing and soldering methods of the laminates using the $CO_2$ laser system have been investigated. ill laser repair process, the beam duration, beam power and beam profile were of great importance, and their effects were simulated by [mite element methods. The simulation results were compared with the experimental ones, and optimal parameters for laser repair process were investigated.
Impact tests were conducted to study the effect of angle ply and metal laminate on impact damage characteristics of Fiber Metal laminates (FML). Impact tests were conducted using drop weight impact machine and damage behavior were analyzed by comparing with load-displacement curve and surface observation and microscopic observation of cross sections. The effect of angle ply on impact characteristics of FML are influenced by property of metal laminate. i.e., when the metal laminate is not enough to strong to prevent fiber debonding, Angle ply FML is superior to singly oriented ply (SOP) FML because angle ply enhance the stiffness by fiber supports and prevent (rack propagation. However, when the metal laminate is enough to strong to prevent fiber debonding, SOP FML is superior to Angle ply FML because the fiber of lower ply in Angle ply FML are more stressed than that of SOP FML.

A methodology for determining the design allowables of composite laminates by using lamina level test data and finite element analysis (FEA) is proposed and verified in this paper. An existing method that yields the laminate design allowables by using the complete test results for laminates was improved to reduce the expensive and time-consuming tests. Input property samples for FEA were generated after considering the statistical distribution characteristics of lamina level test data., and design allowables were derived from several FEA analyses of laminates. To apply and verify the proposed method, Hexcel 8552 IM7 test data were used. For both un-notched and open-hole laminate configurations, it was found that the design allowables obtained from the analysis correctly predicted the laminate test data within the confidence interval. The potential of the present simulation to substitute the laminate tests was demonstrated well.
