  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the financial performance according to the economic environment change. The data of 4,577 households in 2003 and 3994 households in 2000 is from the Korean Labor and Income Panel Study. The data were analyzed by various statistical methods such as frequency, mean-test, Duncan's multiple range test, k-mean cluster analysis. Findings were as follows; First, the classified household financial strategy types were Residual(44.3%), Financial Assets(24.0%), Informal Institutional(19.7%), Diversified Portfolio(7.6%), Real Estate(4.5%). Second, the criteria of classification of the financial strategies were relative, not absolute. Third, the rate of economic growth was high and the index of the current money was low in 2000. Fourth, households that employed a diversified portfolio strategy had the greatest net wealth.

  • Identification of damage of structures has recently received considerable attention in the light of maintenance and safety assessment under service loads. In buildings, the current techniques of safety assessment largely depend on partial experiments such as visual inspection, destructive and nondestructive tests which lead to overconsumption of time and cost as well as higher labor intensity. Therefore, a new trial for safety assessment is urgently needed today. In this respect, the vibration characteristics of buildings have been applied steadily to obtain a damage index of the whole building, but it cannot be established as a practical method until now. This study is aimed at investigating the application of damage identification methods using vibration characteristics of building. Numerical tests are performed on a apartment building. From the test results, it is observed that severity and location of damage can be estimated with a relatively small error by using natural frequency and mode shape data.

  • Investments in factory automation do not guarantee productivity enhancement. Much unknown losses may exist in all aspects of production resources such as in material, manpower, machine, etc. Total productivity in korean firms has decreased in recent years. Labor and capital productivity index fall to 0.82 point and 0.73 point, respectively. Investment in FA has Increased rapidly. Tangible fixed assets per capita increased 64% during the past Three years. But, this high-technology oriented systems such as NC, robotics, CAD/CAM, FMS, etc. are often out of keeping with the old production process control, and thus do not result in satisfactory performance. This review paper concerned with these problems and suggests some future directions for production control and development strategy of korean firm's.

  • The primary purpose of this paper is to estimate the wealth effect. We establish a linear relationships between household consumption, labor income, and stock price index. Each variable is nonstationary. And so, it contains a unit root. However, as the result of the test about cointegrating relations, the variables are cointegrated which implies the error term is stationary. The cointegrating parameter that the marginal propensity to consume out of stock price is 0.08%. The result of estimation shows the error correction is -0.62 and the significant level is also high. The error correction term indicates a rather rapid adjustment to deviations from the long run equilibrium relations.

  • Potential employers considering locations for production or service facilities typically equire detailed advance knowledge of the wages they will be expected to offer for workers in various occupational categories. The State of Missouri s Department of Labor and Industrial Relations is often contacted by organizations requesting such information. The current wage rate survey approach, initiated in 1988, allows the Department to predict an appropriate wage rate for a given occupation in certain counties, adjusted for changes in the Consumer Price Index (CPI). However, both Department employees and firms have indicated that improved prediction responsiveness and accuracy are desirable. A major deficiency of the current approach is its inability to predict wages for unsurveyed counties. This paper describes a knowledge-based system (KBS), currently in the prototype testing stage, that is expected to supplement the wage rate survey in the near future.

  • The purposes of this study were to analyze the work patterns of selected hospital foodservices by Work Sampling methodology, and to investigate the relationship among operational factors affecting productivity. The hospitals were classified into 3 groups by the percentage of patient meals, and the percentage of special patient diet, and the menu items of patients meals. The groups clustered were characterized by productivity. Work Sampling methodology was utilized to analyze the work patterns of hospitals with selected 3 hospitals to investigate the productivity the productivity and labor times used in each work functions. Productivity index analyzed by Work Sampling were 10.36 min/meal, 10.95 min/meal, and 12.19 min/meal, respectively X, Y, Z hospital. Z hospital was significantly different from time used in direct work function and delay. Direct work function time was the highest, delay the lowest in Z hospital. The relation between the results of Work Sampling and the productivities of 3 groups showed not by delay but direct work function in the classification used in this study.

  • The purpose of this study was to select the sectoral vulnerable areas index in welfare field and analyze the socially vulnerable areas from comprehensive analysis. For this study, preceding research and theoretical background were reviewed. Through this, we selected for the analysis index and criteria, and data corresponding to the index are collected. Based on the index and criteria, the data analysis was performed in Seoul Metropolitan City selected as the spatial extent of this study. From the results of analysis, the sectoral lower rank 10% of social vulnerable areas was determined. In addition, Junggu, Yongsangu, and Seodaemungu from the comprehensive analysis of individual vulnerable areas were derived as a final vulnerable areas. In particular, Junggu was weak in all sectors; Yongsangu was in the medical sector; and Seodaemungu was poor in housing and education. Lower vulnerability index of all sectors (energy, housing, medical, transportation, and education) in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd residential areas by examining use zoning was showed. From the results of this study, we can expect time and labor saving of policy support in public sector.

  • This study is aimed at developing an index and indicator in the light of social factors by analyzing the basic materials on Korean working conditions survey to make it possible to grasp various working environment factors consequent on business type and to judge the industrial safety & health policy of the related area. For the purpose of developing an index, this study was conducted by benchmarking the OECD-suggested index development guidelines and overseas cases of index development. This study suggested indexes related to health by benchmarking OECD's press-state-response model. The press-state health-related indexes specified in Korean working condtions survey were found to consist of physical risk environment, working hours, business environment, and social environment, and its consequent 'state' items were comprised of mental health, physical health, absence from work due to health problems and work satisfaction as health-related items. As a result, it was found that the 'press-state index' for wage worker, regular employee, manager, clerks, expert & related personnel involved, and workers aged under 50 was relatively good; in contrast, the 'press-state index' for people aged over 50, owner-operator, daily job, skilled position in agriculture & fisheries, simple labor service, and apparatus & machines assembly worker was found to be relatively vulnerable.

  • In the early industrial age which with high intensity of machine and labor, using financial measurement index was good enough to tie in company's mechanization and philosophy of management and been in efficiency. But being comply with "New Economic age," a new economic environment is full of knowledge and information, the enterprise competition had changed from tangible assets, plants to intangible innovation ability of knowledge. As recognizing the new tendency by enterprise, they value gradually the growth and influence from learning. Practice of organization learning not only needs firm structure and be in coordination with both hardware and software, but also needs an affect measurement model to offer enterprise to estimate learning performance. It's a good instrument of financial performance measure mold in the past years, But it's for measuring the past, couldn't formulate enterprise trend to future, hard to estimate investment for future, such as development of products, organization learning, knowledge management etc, as which intangible assets and knowledge ability just the key factors of being win around competition environment in the future. In 1992, Kaplan and Norton brought up Balance Scorecard (BSC) on Harvard Business Review, as an instrument helping enterprise to measure performance, which is being considered to be a most influence management instrument. It added non-financial index such as customer, internal process and learning growth besides traditional financial index, as offering enterprise an index to measure and manage intangible assets and intellectual property. As being aware of organization learning is hard to be ignored in the new economic age, this research is based on learning and growth of BSC, and citing one national material company try to let the most difficult measurement performance of organization learning, to be estimate through BSC, analyze of factor and individual case, to discuss the company how to make the related strategy and vision of organization learning to develop learning and growth of the structure of BSC, subject the matter of out put factors to be discussed, and measure the outcomes as a result of research. The research affect offers (1) the base implement procedure of carrying out BSC; (2) the reference of formulating measurement index while enterprise using BSC to estimate performance of organization learning; (3) the possibility bottleneck maybe forcing while carrying out BSC, to be an improvement or preventive for enterprise.

  • The purpose of this study is to establish evaluation model that can explain marginal effects of baseball players of Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) on their team winnings in terms of productivity. We proposed econometric model with using variables that are provided from official homepage of KBO to overcome the complexity of mainly used productivity index: wins above replacement (WAR). Also, compare to the previous studies such as Scully(1974) or Krautmann(1999) that using limited indices of baseball stats, this study included 61 indices that are provided from official homepage of KBO. We estimated regression based WAR(RBWAR) by conducting panel regression with each team's statistics data of 2002 to 2014. As a results, RBWAR shows 0.869 correlation coefficient for batters and 0.882 for pitchers with WAR in 2014 that can be concluded that two indices shows similar results. From the results of estimation, we analyze the relationship between productivity and actual contract of free agent players in 2015 and it showed that teams have contracted reasonably.
