The Purpose of this study is to analyze the financial statements of ocean-going shipping companies that have experienced financial difficulties since the global financial crisis. Specifically, the study conducts comparing major firm with small and medium-sized firm from fianancial point of view, analyzes the different trends of two groups. As a result, this paper finds the different characteristics between two groups. There were known many financial difficulties in ocean-going shipping companies, but this is not applied to small and medium-sized firm group. Small and medium-sized firm group grew soundly and slowly during research period. But major firm group experienced the deficit and their management condition has deteriorated considerably during that period. To cope with this difficulties, major firm group should take self-effort to improve fianacial structure and establish the risk management system.

중국의 급속한 경제성장은 한국 시장에 다양한 기회요소 및 위협요소를 제공하고 있으며 이는 해운시장도 예외가 아니다. 한국과 중국은 2009년 전면적인 항로 개방이 예정되어 있다. 한 중항로 개방은 신규항로의 개설과 양국선사의 참여로 인해 과당경쟁을 야기할 수 있다. 특히 중국 선사들의 참여증가로 인한 화물 집하 경쟁과 운임 경쟁이 매우 치열할 것으로 전망되며 장기적으로 운임면에서 우위를 차지하고 있는 중국선사에게 시장을 잠식당할 우려가 존재한다. 뿐만 아니라, 중국선사들의 선대 대형화, 글로벌 컨테이너선사들의 역내시장유입 등은 한 중 일 3국간 항로를 단일 시장화 할 수 있으며 이 경우 선사간 운임덤핑 등, 불공정 거래 행위로 인한 동 항로의 시장질서가 교란될 수 있다. 본 논문은 한 중 항로의 개방에 따른 다양한 문제점에 대한 한국국적선사들의 대응방안 및 전략을 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 본 논문에서는 한 중항로 개방에 따른 향후 전망과 각 선사들의 영업전략, 실무자들의 대정부 정책 건의 등을 파악하기 위해 동 항로에 취항 중인 국적정기선사, 카페리사, 전문물류기업, 해운물류전문신문사 등을 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 중소형 선사간 M&A를 통한 선사와 선박의 대형화, 국적선사간 전략적 제휴를 통한 선복의 대형화 및 공동 운항, 일관서비스 체제 구축 및 화주 밀착형서비스의 제공, 항로의 다변화, 각 항로별 민간 협의체간의 긴밀한 협력 체제, 시장질서 안정화를 위한 협의체의 구성 및 활성화, 근해선사간 근해항로 통합 운영 및 전용터미널의 확보 및 경쟁력 제고, 선사간 M&A시 정부의 특별지원 등이 요구되고 있다는 것을 파악할 수 있었다. 한 중항로는 우리나라 해운업 발전에 필수적인 전략 항로이다. 따라서 중장기적인 활성화 방안이 지속적으로 제시되어야 할 것이다.

Currently, container transport services play a substantial role in global cargo transportation, by serving as an intermodal between exporter and importer. Container shipping has become increasingly important over the past few decades, due to obvious advantages. However, Vietnam's container market has shown severely ongoing competition among numerous domestic and foreign shipping lines, resulting in serious consequences occurring such as freight rates substantially decreasing within the last 10 years. Vietnam's sea lanes have become more defensive, to cover losses of shipping companies. Selection of criteria for competitive evaluation of container transport companies is necessary, to facilitate addressing the problems within the enterprise, especially relating to its position in the market and from here, business management can implement strategic plans and reasonable policy, to survive and grow.

Recently, in the shipping companies have been employing prudently in order to prevent from sea accidents occurred by human factors. Also the students of merchant marine universities are choosing prudently the shipping companies when taking a job. But many qualitative and quantitative factors are considered in decision making for the employment and the choice of a company. FSM(Fuzzy Structural Modeling) has been widely used in modeling the system composed of such qualitative and quantitative factor. In this paper, a case study is discussed for the analysis of the consciousness of the employment of shining companies and students' choice of such company in maritime university using FSM. Also this paper proposed the planes for educating and recruitment guiding the student in maritime university.

The paper reviews briefly of the codes above, together with the effects of the successful introduction of the QMS into the shipping industry. This paper suggests a conceptual prototype for a quality management system (QMS) of seafaring labour, which itself would be a sub-system of the total quality management (TQM) system in a shipping company, on the basis of the ISM and the ISMA Codes, ISO 9002, ISO 9004, and other quality management guidelines. The QMS is essential for the survival of the Korean shipping industry. It will contribute not only to assuring the quality of crew, but also, consequently, to increasing the international competitive edge of the shipping companies in Korea.

해외 해운항만물류시장의 확대 및 진출에 따라 우리나라 선진 해운항만물류분야의 기술 이전을 위한 연수프로그램 수요가 증가하고 있다. 그러나 현재 시행되고 있는 해운항만물류분야 연수프로그램은 단기적인 성과는 있지만 국내 물류기업이 해외시장에 진출하는데 활용도가 매우 낮다. 따라서, 본 연구는 국내 물류기업의 해외진출 현황을 살펴보고 현재 추진중인 연수프로그램의 운영 실태와 문제점을 분석하여 국내 해운항만물류기업이 성공적으로 해외시장에 진출할 수 있는 연수프로그램 활용 방안을 제안하고자 한다.

The world economy has came into unlimited competition with globalization since 1990. Opening markets to the world is in progress through the expansion of world free trade and internationalization of multinational enterprises. In the maritime transportation for world trade, shipping companies pursue "Hub & Spoke" strategy so a port which is not able to be located as a hub port is degraded as a feeder port. To attract shipping companies, it is necessary for existing ports to provide differentiated service. This paper devises marketing strategies for a competitive port after evaluating relation among the factors affecting port selection when a shipping company chooses a port of call. On the basis of determinants derived from existing researches, we study the relation as well as importance among the factors of port selection.

본연구는 매출액 기준 세 가지 분석에 따라 국적외항선사들의 시장 지배력 변화를 분석하고 이를 통해 정부의 선택과 집중에 기반한 해운 재건정책 전략의 효과를 살펴보고자 하였다. 세 가지 분석 결과 모두 2019-2021년 최근 3년간 CR₄(Concentration Ratio)값 및 HHI(Hirschman-Herfindahl Index)값이 증가하여 국적외항선사의 시장구조는 경쟁시장에서 다소 집중된 시장으로 변했음을 알 수 있었다. 특히, 원양컨테이너선사(i.e. HMM과 SM상선)의 시장 점유율이 역내아시아선사 및 부정기선사에 비해 크게 상승하였으며, 컨테이너 정기선 해운시장의 경우 독점시장 또는 고집중적 과점시장화가 된 것으로 나타났다. 타 시장에 비해 원양 컨테이너 운임의 높은 상승은 원양컨테이너 선사의 시장지배력 강화에 매우 큰 영향을 미쳤으며 여기에 정부지원으로 인한 선대확충으로 초과 수익을 달성했다고 볼 수 있다. 결과론적으로 정부의 선대확대전략은 기대 이상의 결과를 낸 것으로 해석할 수 있으나 우리나라 국적선사의 시장구조가 견고해 졌는지 결론을 내기는 한계가 있다.

In recent times, an obvious strategy in liner shipping markets that has come to the fore is slow steaming. Nowadays, most liner shipping companies have decelerated the voyage speed to 15-18 knots on major routes, and some leading liner shipping companies have a plan to reduce it to below 15 knots. Slow steaming is helpful in reducing the operating cost and the amount of greenhouse-gas emissions on a single vessel with lower fuel consumption. However, it also creates various negative effects such as the opportunity cost, additional fixed costs and an in-transit inventory cost on a loop. Hence, the net operating cost on a loop is changing dynamically due to the changes of voyage speed based on various slow steaming effects. The aim of this study is to analyze the slow steaming effects in the liner shipping, and to find the best voyage speed that minimizes the operating cost on a loop. Moreover, this study suggests the recommendable strategy for liner shipping companies. To achieve the aim of this study, a simulation model has been designed using System Dynamics.

Recently, Korea shipping companies have been internally/externally difficult to manage their fleet due to the high price of bunker, wage and low cost of charterage and freight. To solve these problems, some shipping companies have tried to set up a new business regarding offshore plant supply vessel(OSV). Owing to the absence of big oil field near the Korea coast, OSV market has not been gradually progressing as far. This study intends to review the legal review of both international and municipal law for the OSV. Therefore I have provided basic legal information to the domestic shipping companies which have desired to enter the OSV's market and suggest legal revision harmoniously to identify the problem in the municipal law.
