One of the most important capabilities for autonomous service robots working in living environments is to recognize and understand the correct context in dynamically changing environment. To generate high-level context knowledge for decision-making from multiple sensory data streams, many technical problems such as multi-modal sensory data fusion, uncertainty handling, symbolic knowledge grounding, time dependency, dynamics, and time-constrained spatio-temporal reasoning should be solved. Considering these problems, this paper proposes an effective dynamic context management and spatio-temporal reasoning method for intelligent service robots. In order to guarantee efficient context management and reasoning, our algorithm was designed to generate low-level context knowledge reactively for every input sensory or perception data, while postponing high-level context knowledge generation until it was demanded by the decision-making module. When high-level context knowledge is demanded, it is derived through backward spatio-temporal reasoning. In experiments with Turtlebot using Kinect visual sensor, the dynamic context management and spatio-temporal reasoning system based on the proposed method showed high performance.

In this study, we proposed design issues and structure of a web mining system and develop a system for the purpose of knowledge integration under world wide web environments resulted from our developing experiences. The developed system consists of three main functions： 1) gathering documents utilizing a search agent; 2) determining similarity coefficients between any two documents from term frequencies; 3) clustering documents based on similarity coefficients. It is believed that the developed system can be utilized for discovery of knowledge in relatively narrow domains such as news classification, index term generation in knowledge management.

Application areas of Knowledge Discovery in Database(KDD) have been expanded to many R&D management processes including technology trends analysis, forecasting and evaluation etc. Established research field such as informetrics (or scientometrics) has utilized techniques or methods of KDD. Various systems have been developed to support works of analyzing large-scale R&D related databases such as patent DB or bibliographic DB by a few researchers or institutions. But extant systems have some problems for korean users to use. Their prices is not moderate, korean language processing is impossible, and user's demands not reflected. To solve these problems, Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information(KISTI) developed stand-alone type information analysis system named as KnowledgeMatrix. KnowledgeMatrix system offer various functions to analyze retrieved data set from databases. KnowledgeMatrix's main operation unit is composed of user-defined lists and matrix generation, cluster analysis, visualization, data pre-processing. Matrix generation unit help extract information items which will be analyzed, and calculate occurrence, co-occurrence, proximity of the items. Cluster analysis unit enable matrix data to be clustered by hierarchical or non-hierarchical clustering methods and present tree-type structure of clustered data. Visualization unit offer various methods such as chart, FDP, strategic diagram and PFNet. Data pre-processing unit consists of data import editor, string editor, thesaurus editor, grouping method, field-refining methods and sub-dataset generation methods. KnowledgeMatrix show better performances and offer more various functions than extant systems.

Local culture is a cultural heritage that has come down from generation to generation in the natural environment of a region. It includes history, tradition, natural features, art, and historic relics. The Academy of Korean Studies has complied "The Encyclopedia of Korean Local Culture" using those local culture contents. Local culture content shave the features of documentary, such as authenticating the source, and managing hierarchy structure. Thus, to deal with local culture contents, a "circular knowledge information management system" is sought for that helps basic, fragmentary, and high-level information to circulate to create new knowledge information within the system. A user of this circular knowledge information management system is able not only to collect data directly in it, but also to fetch data from other database. Besides, processing the collected data helps to create new knowledge information. But, it's very difficult to sustain the features of the original hierarchy bearing meaning contained in the various kinds of local culture contents when building a new database. Moreover, this kind of work needs many times of correction over a long period of time. Therefore, a system in which compilation, correction, and service can be done simultaneously is needed. Therefore, in this study, focusing on the case of "The Encyclopedia of Korean Local Culture", I propose a XML-based digital compilation management system that can express hierarchy information and sustain the semantic features of the local culture contents containing lots of ancient documents, and introduce the expanded functions developed to manage contents in the system.

An expert system that diagnoses the malfunction of local area network is developed. The system detects specific devices in the network as the source of thd deta disconnection. These soures are sct to goals in the knowledge base and rules are constructed by uncluding all possible occurrences un thd connection of therminals and host computers. An approach via OR graph is employed for thd systematic rule generation. The system is implemented in a shell and illustrative inference processes are presented.

This paper presents a model of e-learning based on ubiquitous computing configuration. First of all, we survey the advanced e-learning systems for foreign and domestic universities. Next we propose the optimal e-learning model based on ubiquitous computing configuration. The proposed e-learning model as following. we propose the e-learning system's hardware and software configurations, that are server and networking systems. Also, we construct the proposed e-learning systems's services. There are attendance and absence service, class management service, common knowledge service, score processing service, facilities management service, personal management service, personal authorization issue management service, campus guide service, lecture-hall management service. Then we propose the laboratory equipment management service, experimental materials management service etc. The proposed model of e-learning based on ubiquitous computing configuration will be able to contribute to the next generation university educational paradigm.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the process and its influencing factors of technological capability building in a small and medium-sized capital goods sector. This paper first reviews the influencing factors of accumulating technological capability-technology trajectory, technology sources, technological capability, technological learning, technology strategy, and entrepreneurship. The paper then presents the integrative model of technological capability building. The experience of Mirae Corporation, the first generation of venture company in Korea, is also discussed as a case in point to analyse the process of technological capability building in a small and medium-sized capital goods company. Finally, the implications and limitations of the study arc discussed.

Recently, individuals are interested in a variety of products and services based on artificial intelligence. Among those products and services, an intelligent personal assistants are attracting many attention from IT companies as a next generation platform. Thus, the main purpose of this study is to investigate effects of intelligent personal assistant's benefits on user's value formation and adoption behavior based on Value-based Adoption Model. In addition, the moderating effect of personal innovativeness is examined through empirical analysis. Based on the analysis with the data from actual users, the results show that usefulness, enjoyment, technicality and cost advantage have significant influences on perceived value and correspondingly have an effect on intention to adopt. Personal innovativeness is related to the relationship between perceived value and intention to adopt. These findings may provide important insights to the relevant field regarding the use and spread of intelligent personal assistants.

A spreadsheet is a office automation software which has been widely used in almost all areas in business. A spreadsheet is used for calculation, data analysis, model building and so on. As a result, spreadsheet is a very important tool for generating knowlege in a firm. Errors in a spreadsheet model can cause a serious financial damage in a corporation. However in Korea few researches for reducing errors have been performed. Neither serious efforts to reduce errors have been executed by corporations. In this research we provided summarized the results from a survey for spreadsheet usage, summarized researches on errors in spreadsheet up to now, and suggested a rules and structured development method for reducing errors in a spreadsheet. Errors in spreadsheets are prevalent. To solve this serious problem, we need much more attention on this problem in research area. Corporations must put more efforts on setting policies and rules. And also we need the government's concern and support.

This study was motivated by consideration of advertising effects on purchase intention of hotel customers in the situation that people can experience in web advertisements more easily and quickly through four main media. We intends to propose strategic web advertising marketing plans by investigating the relation among hotel web advertising attributions, advertising attitude, brand attitude and purchase intention of customers. In conclusion, in the situation that hotel service industry endeavors a lot to attract young customers, according to gentrified consumption culture and changes in an environmental trend, these results are expected to be used as data to establish web advertising marketing strategies to show trendy brand images to hotel customers, especially consumers of N Generation using official websites of hotels.
