Mathematical Constants for Non-Destructive Rapid Method of Leaf Area Determination in Mulberry (Morus spp.)

  • Mathematical constants for multiplication with leaf length (I) or breadth (b) or l ${\times}$ b have been worked out for determining leaf area in promising mulberry genotypes viz., Chinese White, S-146, Chak Majra and Sujanpur Local of sub-tropical India. When pooled, the mathematical constants worked out were 8.1132, 10.1019 and 0.5992 for multiplication with leaf length, breadth and l ${\times}$ b, respectively, for genotypes bearing un-lobbed leaves and 6.9447, 8.2761 and 0.5009 for multiplication with leaf length, breadth and l ${\times}$ b, respectively for genotypes bearing lobbed leaves. Leaf area can be worked out by using any constant by multiplying either with leaf length or breadth or both (l ${\times}$ b). Estimated leaf areas worked out were found significantly and positively correlated with actual leaf area (r=999$^{**}$). The suggested present non-destructive method by using mathematical constants is very quick and alternative to electronic leaf area meter for spot leaf area determination in mulberry which is the only food source for mulberry silkworm in sericulture industry.

  • Boron Phosphide films were deposited on (111) Si substrate at $650^{\circ}C$, by the reaction of B2H6 with PH3 using APCVD. N2 was carried out as carrier gas. The optimal gas rates were $20\;m{\ell}/min$ for B2H6, $60\;m{\ell}/min$ for PH3 and $1\;{\ell}/min$ for N2. After as grown the films were insitu annealed for 1hour in N2 ambient at $550^{\circ}C$ and measured. The measurement of AFM shows that the RMS is $29.626{\AA}$ for the reaction temperature at $650^{\circ}C$. The measurement of XRD shows that the films have the orientation of (101). Also, the measurement of AES is shown that the films have B13P2 stoichiometry.

  • $Bi_2Sr_2Ca_{n-1}Cu_nO_x$(n=0, 1, 2)superconducting thin films have been fabricated by atomic layer-by-layer deposition at an ultra low growth rate using IBS(Ion Beam Sputtering) method. During the deposition, 90 mol% ozone gas of typical pressure of $1{\sim}9{\times}10^{-5}$ Torr are supplied with ultraviolet light irradiation for oxidation. XRD and RHEED investigations reveal out that a buffer layer with some different compositions is formed at the early deposition stage of less than 10 units cell and then Bi-2201 oriented along the c-axis is grown.

  • This paper presents a characteristics of horizontal swing angle in V type suspension string sets for 765kV T/L. The design of V type suspension string set does not differ from that of general string set for general towers, but it prevents instabilities from swing motion by the horizontal angle and by the wind pressure. We were designed specially 6 conductor yoke, arcing horn and earth horn. And we were decided to 550mm for a distance of strings. We were carried out characteristics of horizontal swing test and movement of mass center test for V-string sets of 400kN single, 300kN double and 400kN double. This products will be used for 765kV T/L of 1 circuit in suspension towers.

Style-Specific Language Model Adaptation using TF*IDF Similarity for Korean Conversational Speech Recognition

  • In this paper, we propose a style-specific language model adaptation scheme using n-gram based tf*idf similarity for Korean spontaneous speech recognition. Korean spontaneous speech shows especially different style-specific characteristics such as filled pauses, word omission, and contraction, which are related to function words and depend on preceding or following words. To reflect these style-specific characteristics and overcome insufficient data for training language model, we estimate in-domain dependent n-gram model by relevance weighting of out-of-domain text data according to their n-. gram based tf*idf similarity, in which in-domain language model include disfluency model. Recognition results show that n-gram based tf*idf similarity weighting effectively reflects style difference.

  • Substituent effects of leaving group in benzylarenesulfonates solvolysis have been carried out in 10∼50% water-acetone mixtures by electric conductivity method. Results of solvent effects, substituent effects and variable rate difference of water contents, show that $S_N1$ character almost predominates through the substituents, though p-MeO favors more or less $S_N2$ character in low water contents.

  • The physical, electrical and piezoresitive characteristics of CrN(chromium nitride) thin-films on silicon substrates have been investigated for use as strain gauges. The thin-film depositions have been carried out by DC reactive magnetron sputtering in an argon-nitrogen atmosphere(Ar-(5∼25 %)Na$_2$). The deposited CrN thin-films with thickness of 3577${\AA}$ and annealing conditions(300$^{\circ}C$, 48 hr) in Ar-10 % N$_2$deposition atmosphere have been selected as the ideal piezoresistive material for the strain gauges. Under optimum conditions, the CrN thin-films for the strain gauges is obtained a high electrical resistivity, $\rho$=1147.65 ${\mu}$$\Omega$cm, a low temperature coefficient of resistance, TCR=-186 ppm/$^{\circ}C$ and a high temporal stability with a good longitudinal gauge factor, GF=11.17.

  • A series of N(2)-benzothiazolyl substituted tetrahydroindazoles has been synthesized via cyclic ${\beta}$ keto esters. Optimum reaction condition was found as acidic toluene and effect of higher acidity towards substituted hydrazines in situ was described. Synthesized compounds have been achieved as single isomer and characterized by using 1D and 2D NMR spectral reports. Antimicrobial screening was carried out for the synthesized compounds along with a series of N(2)-pyridyl tetrahydroindazoles.1 The results of the in vitro antimicrobial screening studies revealed that compounds 13, 16 against Staphylococcus aureus, 11 against Escherichia coli, 10-12, 16 against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and 12 against Klebsiella pneumoniae recorded almost two-fold better activity compared to the standard drug used.

  • n-type PERT (passivated emitter, rear totally diffused) bifacial solar cells with boron and phosphorus diffusion as p+ emitter and n+ BSF (back surface field) have attracted significant research interest recently. In this work, the influences of wafer thickness, bulk lifetime, emitter, BSF on the photovoltaic characteristics of solar cells are discussed. The performance of the solar cell is determined by using one-dimensional solar cell simulation software PC1D. The simulation results show that the key role of the BSF is to decrease the surface doping concentration reducing the recombination and thus, increasing the cell efficiency. A lightly phosphorus doped BSF (LD BSF) was experimentally optimized to get low surface dopant concentration for n type bifacial solar cells. Pre-oxidation combined with a multi-plateau drive-in, using limited source diffusion was carried out before pre-deposition. It could reduce the surface dopant concentration with minimal impact on the sheet resistance.

Chemical Differentiation of CS and $N_2H^+$ in Starless Cores

  • We present preliminary results on the chemical differentiation of two dense gas tracers CS and $N_2H^+$ in five 'evolved' starless cores, L1544, L1552, L1689B, L694-2 and L1197, using our mapping observations in $C^{34}S$(J=2-1) and $N_2H^+$(J=1-0) with Nobeyama 45-m telescope. We compared the intensity maps of two molecular lines with 850 ${\mu}m$ continuum data which precisely trace the density distribution of the dense cores, finding that all of our targets show the central depletion holes in CS distribution, but the similar distribution in $N_2H^+$ to the one in dust continuum. Our data confirm the claim that CS molecule generally deplete out in the central region in starless cores, while $N_2H^+$ keep abundant as they get evolved. The detailed quantitative analysis on CS depletion in the dense cores, for example, the size of CS depletion area and radial (or gas density) dependence of CS depletion, is underway and will be presented in the meeting.
