Objectives : The purpose of this study is to explore the trends of Korean medical study on stress in the industrial worker. Methods : We received numbers of the studies about stress in the industrial worker from 6 Korean web databases, using key words such as 'Industry AND Stress', 'Oriental medicine AND Stress', 'Worker AND Stress', 'Workplace AND Stress'. We received 12 research papers and they were analyzed and the journals, the authors, the contents of 3 classification of those research papers. Results : Among them, we had 6 reviews of Dept. of preventive medicine and Dept. of third medicine, college of Korean Medicine, Won-kwang University, and the rest of them were 6 reviews. We had 4 reviews of Korean Journal of Oriental Preventive Medical Society, 2 reviews of the Journal of Traditional Korean Medicine, 2 reviews of Journal of Oriental Neuropsychiatry and so on. According to the contents of reviews, we had 7 reviews of correlation of industrial worker and stress, 4 reviews of cause on the industrial worker's stress and 1 case report. Conclusions : We reviewed the trends of Korean medical study on stress in the industrial worker. The stress in the industrial workers were related with the type of occupation, social psychology, drinking, smoking, the satisfaction of job, the harmony of organization. And we knew that the musculoskeletal pain was related to the industrial worker's stress. In the future, abundant case studies, follow-up trials and RCTs should be done about the industrial worker's stress.

Cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSM) is a severe disease that usually needs surgical treatment. We have treated two CSM patients with Korean traditonal medicine, which includes acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, herbal medicine and manual treatment (Chuna). For objective evaluation, we used Nurick's classification, JOA (Japanses Orthopedic Association) score, grip and release test and hand grasping power measurement. Post-treatment analysis has shown that grip and release test score and grasping power of two patients were both remarkably improved, along with the improvements on both Nurick's classification and JOA score. This study showed that Korean traditional medicine could be effective conservative treatment for CSM.

Objectives: This study evaluates the effect of Korean medicine in a patient with multiple system atrophy-C (MSA-C). Methods: A patient diagnosed with MSA-C was treated with herbal medicine (Boyangwhano-tang hap Yeokgan-san), acupuncture, and moxibustion for 8 weeks. Clinical improvements were evaluated by the unified MSA rating scale (UMSARS) and the scale for the assessment and rating of ataxia (SARA). Results: Improvements in the total scores of UMSARS Part I, II, and IV and SARA were observed after Korean medicine treatments. However, there were no improvements to the urinary and autonomic dysfunctions. Conclusions: Korean medicine treatment may be an effective treatment for a degenerative, progressive disease like MSA-C.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the clinical effect of Korean medicine on a patient who suffered from dizziness. Methods: The patient was treated with herbal medicine for about 2 weeks. Results: Clinical symptoms (dizziness) improved following treatment with Korean medicine. Conclusions: Korean medicine may be effective for improving clinical symptoms of dizziness.

The purpose of this case study was to use Korean medicine to treat posterior cruciate ligament avulsion fracture. The patient suffered left knee pain resulting from an avulsion fracture and was hospitalized for 59 days and treated with acupuncture and traditional Korean medicine. The effect of the treatment was evaluated using the Numerical Rate Scale, the Western Ontario and McMaster universities Osteoarthritis Index, and the European Quality of Life Five Dimensions. Following treatment of the pain in the left knee, scores for Numerical Rate Scale, Western Ontario and McMaster universities Osteoarthritis Index, and European Quality of Life Five Dimensions were improved. This study suggested that Korean Medicine could be an effective treatment for posterior cruciate ligament avulsion fractures. Further studies are needed to substantiate this conclusion.

Objectives The aim of this study is to analyse research trends about oriental obesity pattern identification in Korea. Methods We searched the papers with key words of 'obesity' and 'Pattern identification', 'Syndrom differentiation' in Korean database (Korean traditional knowledge portal, KISS, NDSL, DBPIA, KMBASE, Journal of Korean Medicine Rehabilitation, Journal of Korean Medicine for Obesity Research). We classified the papers by year and content. Results We reviewed 28 searched papers. Papers were published between 1992 and 2012. More than half of the total papers were published since 2008. There are 5 studies that focus on development and improvement of oriental obesity pattern identification questionnaire. 9 studies are research about using oriental obesity pattern identification questionnaire. 7 studies are research about Type of oriental obesity pattern identification. 4 studies are literature review of oriental obesity pattern identification. Other studies related to oriental obesity pattern identification are three. Conclusions To improve application and objectification about oriental obesity pattern identification, more clinical and oriental obesity pattern identification questionnaire studies are needed.

Objective : There is a growing interest on Complementary and Alternative Medicine(CAM). But the term 'CAM' often causes confusion, for the perception of CAM is determined by how the relationship between CAM and Conventional Medicine is established. Methods : In this paper, we researched the concept of CAM through the change in the terminology and definition of CAM throughout history. Furthermore, we also analyzed related papers in Korea. Results : International studies show that the relationship between Conventional Medicine and CAM has become more cooperative. Meanwhile, in Korea, Korean Medicine is categorized as a type of Conventional Medicine, not CAM. Conclusion : Though Korean Medicine is included in Conventional Medicine in Korea, the research methodology is still restricted in ways of bio-medical science. Further study on the original research method of Korean Medicine is needed.

Meralgia paresthetica is a rare femoral disease and various symptoms appear such as pain, numbness, and paresthesia in the anterolateral thigh due to entrapment of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve. We treated the meralgia paresthetica patients with Korean medicine treatment including herbal medicine, acupuncture, Chuna manual therapy and pharmacopuncture during 12 days. Numerical rating scale (NRS), Euroqol five dimension (EQ-5D) index, and the changes of symptoms were measured for assessment. After 12 days inpatient treatment, NRS decreased from 7 to 4, EQ-5D index and the symptoms of the patient also were improved. In conclusion, this case shows Korean medicine treatment might be an effective treatment for Meralgia paresthetica.

A 56-year-old Korean female patient developed generalized morphea over three months. We focused on imbalance of the neuroendocrine-immune axis, mainly using Jiawei-Renshengyangrong-tang and Jiawei-Siqi-tang. Moxibustion on LU9 was conducted for skin symptoms. The patient's modified localized scleroderma skin severity index score decreased from 22 to 6 over 22 weeks of treatment and to 4 during a 3-month follow-up. Her verbal rating scale score for general symptoms decreased from 17 to 1 during the 22-week treatment.
