  • In this study, bolted joint made of Glass-Mat Reinforced Thermoplastics (GMT) specimen was under tensile loading to investigate the relation between joint strength and glass-fiber weight fraction of the flat plate specimen. The effect of molding conditions such as the initial size of a GMT charge and molding temperatures was investigated under plane strain condition. In consideration of the specimen geometry, minimum end distance and width of the specimen to induce the bearing fracture mode of the bolted joint were determined. And finally, the effect of the outer diameter of washer and clamping pressure on joint strength was also investigated. Since joint strength is dependent on the local glass-fiber weight fraction, experimentally measured strength was modified, considering its irregular values of the specimen molded under various processing conditions in order to obtain a reasonable correlation between the two.

  • The joints with multi-interfaces was expected to have low DC resistance compared with those with single interface. The small size joint specimens joined with Nb3Sn sub-cables were fabricated to investi-gate the DC performance in the range of 0 to 600A transport current without external magnetic field. The joints with multi-interfaces have a few n-Ohm resistance, which is much lower than that of single lap joint. Because the interfaces between sub-cables of multi-interfaced joint are more complicated than those of single-interfaced joint, the soldering condition between sub-cables is very effective on the joint DC resistance.

  • We provide quantitative two weight estimates for the commutator of the Hilbert transform under certain conditions on a pair of weights (u, v) and b in $Carl_{u,v}$. In [10] and [11], Bloom's inequality is shown in a modern setting, and the boundedness of the commutators is provided by assuming both weights u, v are $A_2$ and $b{\in}BMO_{\rho}$. In the present paper we show that the condition on b can be replaced by $Carl_{u,v}$ by using the joint $A^d_2$ condition.

  • This study provided the analytical model describing the friction-induced noise in the ball joint system under the edge loading condition. The frictional and conformal contact kinematics between the spherical bearing and the hemispherical socket was derived and the dynamic equations of the perturbed motion were established. The numerical results revealed that the bending modes of the ball joint system can become unstable due to friction, and the axial load and contact stiffness strongly influenced the dynamic instability. In contrast, the tilting angle of the socket was not found to significantly contribute to the dynamic instability of the ball joint.

  • We present an AILC(Adaptive Iterative Learning Control) scheme and a sufficient condition for system parameter identification for uncertain robotic systems that perform the same tasks repetitively. It is guaranteed that the joint velocity and position asymptotically converge to the reference joint velocity and position, respectively. In addition, it is proved that a sufficient condition for parameter identification is the PE(Persistent Excitation) condition on the regressor matrix evaluated at the reference trajectory during the operation period. Since the regressor matrix on the reference trajectory can be easily computed prior to the real robot operation, the proposed algorithm provides a useful method to verify whether the parameter error converges to zero or not.

  • The bonding strength evaluation of light weight materials for electrical vehicle applications has been performed through single lap joint tests in which the design parameters such as fillet, joint style, adherend, bonding overlap length, bonding thickness, and environmental condition(soaking time in $25^{\circ}C$ water) are considered. It is experimentally oberved that lap shear strength of joint increases for higher fillet height, longer overlap length, and thinner bonding layer thickness. Al-Al adherend combination shows much higher lap shear strength than AL-FRP and FRP-FRP adherend combinations. Riveting at adhesive bonded joint of AL-AL adherend combination makes lap shear strength decrease. Effect of soaking time on lap shear strength is negligible.

  • Construction projects are being the skyscraper and the large size by limited site condition and developing construction technology. Therefore, Steel structure work is steadily increasing caused by easy to work and structural safety. However, steel-frame work has the large incidence of heavy accident potentially. Recently a research group has recently developed newly designed self-supported steel joint for enhancing safety of steel erection work. Before applying the steel joint in a construction site, economic evaluation should be performed. Thus, we proposed the method for measuring economic efficiency of the new steel joint and verified economic feasibility of the steel joint method through a case study. As a result, Steel erection method using by self-supported steel joint showed economic rather than the one using by H-beams.

  • The neighbouring gaps at the mortise-tenon joint in traditional timber structure, which leads to the complexity of the joint, are considered to impair the mechanical performance of the joint. In this paper, numerical simulation of loose joint was conducted to examine the deformation states, stress distributions, and bearing capacities, which was verified by full-scale test. On the basis of the experimental and numerical results, a simplified mechanics model with gaps has been proposed to present the bending capacity of the loose joint. Besides, the gap effects and parameter studies on the influences of tenon height, friction coefficient, elastic modulus and axial load were also investigated. As a result, the estimated relationship between moment and rotation angle of loose joint showed the agreement with the numerical results, demonstrating validity of the proposed model; The bending bearing capacity and rotational stiffness of loose joint had a certain drop with the increasing of gaps; and the tenon height may be the most important factor affecting the mechanical behaviors of the joint when it is subjected to repeated load; Research results can provide important references on the condition assessments of the existing mortise-tenon joint.

  • The joint parts was composed of inner AL(aluminum) ring, FRP wedge and motor case which was manufactured by filament wound method. Where the motor case consists of helical and hoop layer. The finite element analysis was performed for the design variable of joint parts to improve the performance of motor case. Where the adhesive layer was modeled to elasto-perfect plastic material and the contact condition of AL ring and wedge was modeled by using the contact surface element of ABAQUS. And the sliding distance of AL ring and the hoop strain of composite case were compared to hydro-static test results to verify the accuracy of analysis results. When wedge and AL ring was perfect bonding, though the hoop strain of joint part was reduced, the maximum shear stress was occurred at the adhesive layer. Thus the adhesive layer had failed due to the high shear stress before the failure was occurred at the case. And as another design method, when wedge and AL ring was contact condition, the shear stress on adhesive layer was decreased. But the hoop stress of joint part increased due to the sliding behavior of AL ring. Finally, the fail was occurred at the composite case of joint part. The improved joint method reinforced by hoop layer to the joint parts under contact condition for wedge and Al. ring reduced the joint part's hoop strain by constraint the sliding behavior of AL ring.

  • In many structures a common method of construction is to make use of bolted or riveted joints. With this type of joint the load is transmitted through a pin from one section of the structure to another. Fatigue cracks often start from the edges of holes, due to local stress concentration. In order to predict the fatigue crack growth, the stress intensity factor K for hole-edge cracks should be available. In this paper the stress intensity factors are computed for cracks in bolt-joint region considering the contact condition.
