  • Clustering is a data mining method, which consists in discovering interesting data distributions in very large databases. In traditional data clustering, similarity of a cluster of object is measured by pairwise similarity of objects in that paper. In view of the nature of clustering transactions, we devise in this paper a novel measurement called item similarity and utilize this to perform clustering. With this item similarity measurement, we develop an efficient clustering algorithm for target marketing in each group.

  • Collaborative filtering algorithms often encounter data sparsity issues. To overcome this issue, auxiliary information of relevant items is analyzed and an item attribute matrix is derived. In this study, we combine the user-item attribute preference with the traditional similarity calculation method to develop an improved similarity calculation approach and use weights to control the importance of these two elements. A collaborative filtering algorithm based on user-item attribute preference is proposed. The experimental results show that the performance of the recommender system is the most optimal when the weight of traditional similarity is equal to that of user-item attribute preference similarity. Although the rating-matrix is sparse, better recommendation results can be obtained by adding a suitable proportion of user-item attribute preference similarity. Moreover, the mean absolute error of the proposed approach is less than that of two traditional collaborative filtering algorithms.

  • Clustering is a data mining method which help discovering interesting data groups in large databases. In traditional data clustering, similarity between objects in the cluster is measured by pairwise similarity of objects. But we devise an advanced measurement called item similarity in this paper, in terms of nature of clustering transaction data and use this measurement to perform clustering. This new algorithm show the similarity by accepting the concept of relationship between different attributes. With this item similarity measurement, we develop an efficient clustering algorithm for target marketing in each group.

  • Recommender Systems (RecSys) have a major role in e-commerce for recommending products, which they may like for every user and thus improve their business aspects. Although many types of RecSyss are there in the research field, the state of the art RecSys has focused on finding the user similarity based on sequence (e.g. purchase history, movie-watching history) analyzing and prediction techniques like Recurrent Neural Network in Deep learning. That is RecSys has considered as a sequence prediction problem. However, evaluation of similarities among the customers is challenging while considering temporal aspects, context and multi-component ratings of the item-records in the customer sequences. For addressing this issue, we are proposing a Deep Learning based model which learns customer similarity directly from the sequence to sequence similarity as well as item to item similarity by considering all features of the item, contexts, and rating components using Dynamic Temporal Warping(DTW) distance measure for dynamic temporal matching and 2D-GRU (Two Dimensional-Gated Recurrent Unit) architecture. This will overcome the limitation of non-linearity in the time dimension while measuring the similarity, and the find patterns more accurately and speedily from temporal and spatial contexts. Experiment on the real world movie data set LDOS-CoMoDa demonstrates the efficacy and promising utility of the proposed personalized RecSys architecture.

  • Item-based collaborative filtering (IBCF) is an important technology that is widely used in recommender system of online shopping malls. It uses historical information to compute item-item similarity and make predictions. However, in offline shopping each customer's purchasing pattern can be occurred continuously and repeatedly due to time and space constraints contrast to online shopping. Those facts can make IBCF to have limitations from being applied to offline shopping malls directly. In order to improve the quality of recommendations made by IBCF in offline shopping mall, we propose an ensemble approach that considers both item-item similarity of IBCF and each customer's purchasing patterns which are modeled by item networks. Our experimental results show that this approach produces recommendation results superior to those of existing works such as pure IBCF or bestseller approaches.

  • The collaborative filtering has used the nearest neighborhood method based on the preference and the similarity using the Pearson correlation coefficient. Therefore, it does not reflect content of the items and has the problems of the sparsity and scalability as well. the item-based collaborative filtering has been practically used to improve these defects, but it still does not reflect attributes of the item. In this paper, we propose the user and item based collaborative filtering using the classification property and Naive Bayesian to supplement the defects in the existing recommendation system. The proposed method complexity refers to the item similarity based on explicit data and the user similarity based on implicit data for handing the sparse problem. It applies to the Naive Bayesian to the result of reference. Also, it can enhance the accuracy as computation of the item similarity reflects on the correlative rank among the classification property to reflect attributes.

  • A collaborative filtering(CF) is the most widely used technique in recommender system. However, CF has sparsity and scalability problems. These problems reduce the accuracy of recommendation and extensive studies have been made to solve these problems, In this paper, we proposed a method that uses a weight so as to solve these problems. After creating a user-item matrix, the proposed method analyzes information about users who prefer the item only by using data with a rating over 4 for enhancing the accuracy in the recommendation. The proposed method uses information about the genre of the item as well as analyzed user information as a weight during the calculation of similarity, and it calculates prediction by using only data for which the similarity is over a threshold and uses the data as the rating value of unrated data. It is possible simultaneously to reduce sparsity and to improve accuracy by calculating prediction through an analysis of the characteristics of an item. Also, it is possible to conduct a quick classification based on the analyzed information once a new item and a user are registered. The experiment result indicated that the proposed method has been more enhanced the accuracy, compared to item based, genre based methods.

  • In recent years most of personalized recommender systems in electronic commerce utilize collaborative filtering algorithm in order to recommend more appropriate items. User-based collaborative filtering is based on the ratings of other users who have similar preferences to a user in order to predict the rating of an item that the user hasn't seen yet. This nay decrease the accuracy of prediction because the similarity between two users is computed with respect to the two users and only when an item has been rated by the users. In item-based collaborative filtering, the preference of an item is predicted based on the similarity between the item and each of other items that have rated by users. This method, however, uses the ratings of users who are not the neighbors of a user for computing the similarity between a pair of items. Hence item-based collaborative filtering may degrade the accuracy of a recommender system. In this paper, we present a new approach that a user's neighborhood is used when we compute the similarity between the items in traditional item-based collaborative filtering in order to compensate the weak points of the current item-based collaborative filtering and to improve the prediction accuracy. We empirically evaluate the accuracy of our approach to compare with several different collaborative filtering approaches using the EachMovie collaborative filtering data set. The experimental results show that our approach provides better quality in prediction and recommendation list than other collaborative filtering approaches.

  • User-based and item-based approaches have been developed as the solutions of the movie recommendation problem. However, the user-based approach is faced with the problem of sparsity, and the item-based approach is faced with the problem of not reflecting users' preferences. In order to solve these problems, there is a research on the combination of the two methods using the concept of similarity. In reality, it is not free from the problem of sparsity, since it has a lot of parameters to be calculated. In this study, we propose a combining method that simplifies the combination equation of prior study. This method is relatively free from the problem of sparsity, since it has less parameters to be calculated. Thus, it can get more accurate results by reflecting the users rating to calculate the parameters. It is very fast to predict new movie ratings as well. In experiments for the proposed method, the initial error is large, but the performance gets quickly stabilized after. In addition, it showed about 6% lower average error rate than the existing method using similarity.

  • Short-text similarity calculation is one of the hot issues in natural language processing research. The conventional keyword-overlap similarity algorithms merely consider the lexical item information and neglect the effect of the word order. And some of its optimized algorithms combine the word order, but the weights are hard to be determined. In the paper, viewing the keyword-overlap similarity algorithm, the short English text similarity algorithm based on lexical chunk theory (LC-SETSA) is proposed, which introduces the lexical chunk theory existing in cognitive psychology category into the short English text similarity calculation for the first time. The lexical chunks are applied to segment short English texts, and the segmentation results demonstrate the semantic connotation and the fixed word order of the lexical chunks, and then the overlap similarity of the lexical chunks is calculated accordingly. Finally, the comparative experiments are carried out, and the experimental results prove that the proposed algorithm of the paper is feasible, stable, and effective to a large extent.
