A Maximum Power Point Tracking Control for Photovoltaic Array without Voltage Sensor

  • This paper presents a maximum power point tracking algorithm for Photovoltaic array using only instantaneous output current information. The conventional Hill climbing method of peak power tracking has a disadvantage of oscillations about the maximum power point. To overcome this problem, we have developed an algorithm that will estimate the duty ratio corresponding to maximum power operation of solar cell. The estimation of the optimal duty ratio involves, finding the duty ratio at which integral value of output current is maximum. For the estimation, we have used the well know Lagrange's interpolation method. This method can track maximum power point quickly even for changing solar isolation and avoids oscillations after reaching the maximum power point.

The Design of a Sub-Harmonic Dual-Gate FET Mixer

  • In this paper, a sub-harmonic dual-gate FET mixer is suggested to improve the isolation characteristic between LO and RF ports of an unbalanced mixer. The mixer was designed by using single-gate FET cascode structure and driven by the second harmonic component of LO signal. A dual-gate FET mixer has good isolation characteristic since RF and LO signals are injected into gatel and gate2, respectively. In addition, the isolation characteristic of a sub-harmonic mixer is better than that of a fundamental mixer due to the large frequency separation between the LO and RF frequencies. As RF power was -30 ㏈m and LO power was 0 ㏈m, the designed mixer yielded the -47.17 ㏈m LO-to-RF leakage power level, 10 ㏈ conversion gain, -2.5 ㏈m OIP3, -12.5 ㏈m IIP3 and -1 ㏈m 1 ㏈ gain compression point. Since the LO-to-RF leakage power level of the designed mixer is as good as that of a double-balanced mixer, the sub-harmonic dual-gate FET mixer can be utilized instead.

An Interference Isolation Method for Wireless Power and Signal Parallel Transmissions on CPT Systems

  • A novel interference isolation method is proposed by using several designed coils in capacitive power transfer systems as isolation impedances. For each designed coil, its stray parameters such as the inter-turn capacitance, coil resistance and capacitance between the coil and the core, etc. are taken into account. An equivalent circuit model of the designed coil is established. According to this equivalent circuit, the impedance characteristic of the coil is calculated. In addition, the maximum impedance point and the corresponding excitation frequency of the coil are obtained. Based on this analysis, six designed coils are adopted to isolate the interference from power delivery. The proposed method is verified through experiments with a power carrier frequency of 1MHz and a data carrier frequency of 8.7MHz. The power and data are transferred parrallelly with a data carrier attenuation lower than -5dB and a power attenuation on the sensing resistor higher than -45dB.

  • A single degree of freedom system and transmissibility are key concepts in many problems of vibration isolation. In order to apply this approach, however, several assumptions must be satisfied, which are often not realistic. For examples, in practical systems, vibration transmissions at multi-point with multi-degree of freedom(translational and rotational DOF) take place and mobilities or impedances of receiver structures cannot be ignored any more especially over high frequency range. Therefore, a multi-dimensional treatment is required for accurate estimation of dynamic behavior of the system. In this paper, an approach using vibrational power flow is introduced to deal with analysis of multi-dimensional vibration isolation system in a more practical way and in aspects of vibration isolations and vibration path analysis. Procedures of this approach and some results of research for vibrational power path analysis with rotational terms included are presented. Difficulties in this method are also discussed.

  • Due to the recent quantum leaps forward in bio-, nano-, and information-technologies, the precisionization and miniaturization of mechanical and electrical components are in high demand. The allowable margin for vibration limits for such equipments is becoming stricter. In order to meet this demand, understandings on the characteristics of vibration isolation systems are highly required. Among the components comprising the vibration isolation system, air spring has become a focal point. In order to develop a complex defect tester for COG bonding of display panels, a vibration isolation system composed of air springs for mounting is considered in this study. The dynamic characteristics of the air spring are investigated, which is the most essential ingredient for reducing the vibration problem of the tester to the lowest level. Uncoupled dynamic parameters of the air spring are identified through MTS experiments, followed by suggestion of a model-based approach to obtain the remaining coupled dynamic parameters. Finally, the dynamic behaviors of the air spring are estimated and discussed.

Utililty-Interfaced High-Frequency Flyback Transformer Linked Sinewave Pulse Modulated Inverter for a Small Scale Renewable Energy Conditioner

  • This paper presents a novel prototype of the utility AC power interfaced soft-switching sinewave pulse modulated inverter using the high-frequency flyback for the small scale distributed renewable energy power conditioner. The proposed cricuit with a high-frequency isolation link has a funtion of electrical isolation, which is more cost-effective and reliable for the small-scale distributed renwal energy utilization system from a safety point of riew. The discontinuous conduction mode(DCM) operation of the high-frequency flyback transformer is adopted to establish a simple and low-cost circuit configuration and control scheme. For the simplicity, the circuit operating principle is described on the basis of the modified conventional full bridge inverter, whitch is the typical conventional high-frequency full-bridge inverter employing the high requency flyback transformer to eanble the effictive function of the electrical isolation. Than, the new circuit topology of the unility-interfaced soft-switching sinewave pulse modulated inverter using IGBTs is proposed. The proposed cricuit topology is additionally composed of the auxiliary power regenerating snubber cricuits, which are also mathematically analyzed for the parameter desigen settings. Finally, the performance of the propose inverter is evaluated on the basis of computer-aid simulation. It is noted that the sinewave pulse modulated output current of the inverter is synchronous to the AC main voltage.

소형 고 격리도 듀얼 밴드 MIMO 안테나 (Compact Dual-Band MIMO Antenna with High Isolation Performance)

  • 본 논문에서는 PMP에 적용 가능한 소형의 듀얼 밴드(IEEE 802.11b: 2.4~2.5 GHz, 11a: 5.15~5.825 GHz) 이중 대역 MIMO 안테나를 제안하였다. 제안된 안테나는 2 GHz 대역에서 동작하는 PIFA(평면형 역 F형 안테나)와 5 GHz 대역에서 동작하는 루프(loop) 안테나로 구성되었다. 두 포트의 안테나는 각각 PIFA와 루프로 구성되어져 있으며, 상호 간의 격리도(isolation)를 높이기 위하여 편파 방향과 최대 방사 방향이 서로 수직이 되도록 그라운드 가장자리에 직교(orthogonal) 구조로 배치하였다. 또한, 상관도(correlation) 저감과 더욱 높은 격리도를 얻기 위해, 2 GHz 동작 주파수 대역에서 두 포트의 PIFA가 $\lambda_g$/4 길이의 선(connecting line)으로 연결되어 있으며, 5 GHz 동작 주파수 대역에서는 그라운드 뒷면에 두 루프 안테나 사이를 연결하는 사다리꼴의 평면(connecting plane)을 이용하였다. 듀얼 밴드 MIMO 안테나는 WLAN 대역에서 충분한 이득을 가지며, PMP(Portable Media Player)에 적용 가능한 소형의 안테나로 설계되었다.

LRB와 슬라이딩베어링을 혼용한 면진시스템을 적용한 아파트 건물의 지진 응답 (Seismic Response of Apartment Building with Base Isolation System Consisting of Sliding-type Bearing and Lend Rubber Bearing)

  • 이 논문은 기존 내진설계와 비교하여 면진설계의 효용성과 경제적 효과에 대한 연구 결과를 정리한 것이며, 면진설계에 있어서는 납봉삽입적층고무베어링 (LRB)만을 사용한 경우와 비교하여 슬라이딩베어링과 LRB를 혼용한 면진시스템의 내진 거동을 함께 제시하였다. 연구 결과, 면진은 구조물에 대하여 지진동으로 인한 효과를 감소시키는데 매우 효과적이며, 층 가속도의 감소로 사용성을 증가시킬 수 있음이 입증되었다. 또한 층 가속도와 밑면 전단력의 감소라는 관점에서 슬라이딩베어링과 LRB를 혼용한 면진시스템이 LRB만을 사용한 경우보다 더 효과적임을 증명하였다. 하지만 경제적 효과 면에서는 증가된 성능에 비례하여 지불해야만 하는 비용도 커진다는 사실에 특별히 주의할 필요가 있는 것으로 나타났다.

지진격리된 원전배관의 지진취약도 분석 (Seismic Fragility Analysis of Base Isolated NPP Piping Systems)

  • Base isolation is considered as a seismic protective system in the design of next generation Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs). If seismic isolation devices are installed in nuclear power plants then the safety under a seismic load of the power plant may be improved. However, with respect to some equipment, seismic risk may increase because displacement may become greater than before the installation of a seismic isolation device. Therefore, it is estimated to be necessary to select equipment in which the seismic risk increases due to an increase in the displacement by the installation of a seismic isolation device, and to perform research on the seismic performance of each piece of equipment. In this study, modified NRC-BNL benchmark models were used for seismic analysis. The numerical models include representations of isolation devices. In order to validate the numerical piping system model and to define the failure mode, a quasi-static loading test was conducted on the piping components before the analysis procedures. The fragility analysis was performed by using the results of the inelastic seismic response analysis. Inelastic seismic response analysis was carried out by using the shell finite element model of a piping system considering internal pressure. The implicit method was used for the direct integration time history analysis. In addition, the collapse load point was used for the failure mode for the fragility analysis.

선택적 전달 공격 탐지 기법에서의 감시 노드 수 제어기법 (Control Method for the number of check-point nodes in detection scheme for selective forwarding attacks)

  • Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) can easily compromised from attackers because it has the limited resource and deployed in exposed environments. When the sensitive packets are occurred such as enemy's movement or fire alarm, attackers can selectively drop them using a compromised node. It brings the isolation between the basestation and the sensor fields. To detect selective forwarding attack, Xiao, Yu and Gao proposed checkpoint-based multi-hop acknowledgement scheme (CHEMAS). The check-point nodes are used to detect the area which generating selective forwarding attacks. However, CHEMAS has static probability of selecting check-point nodes. It cannot achieve the flexibility to coordinate between the detection ability and the energy consumption. In this paper, we propose the control method for the number fo check-point nodes. Through the control method, we can achieve the flexibility which can provide the sufficient detection ability while conserving the energy consumption.
