시판 Shampoo의 성분과 세척성 (A study on the Components and Detergency of Commercial Shampoos)

  • General components and detergency of commercial shampoos have been investigated and the results are summerized in the following. Shampoos were analyzed for surfactants and additives by KS method and surfactants were confirmed by T.L.C. Considerable differences in amounts of non volatiles and surfactants were found. Three of them contain either lanoline or sterols as additives and in the three. propylene glycol was found in their liquid part. It was shown that predominant sufactant was anionic and in all, except one. a little ampholytic surfactant was detected. But, contrary to forecast, in only one a little of non ionic surfactant was detected. Detergency of shampoos was examined using artificially soiled wool muslin. Considerable difference was found, and all shampoos showed higher detergency than a synthetic powder type detergent for textiles. There were no significant correlation between detergency and amount of surfactants or suspending power of detergents.

  • Polyalkylene phosphates - polymers that are built on the repeating unit of the diester of phosphoric acid: -[OP(O)(OH)Oalkylene]-, are known to form backbones of nucleic and teichoic acids. Various synthetic ways will be reported for the synthesis of the bare chains, where "alkylene" in the formula above means mostly two or three methylene groups. Some other structures have also been prepared. Several applications of these polymers are to be discussed, namely as liquid membranes, as components of two-block copolymers (ionic-nonionic diblock dihydrophilic) used as modifiers of CaCO3 crystallization, and as components of the inorganic-polymer hybrid materials. Some other applications in the biomedical field will also be discussed.

  • Plant cell walls consist of a variety of chemical constituents such as cellulose, humicelluloses, pertins, lignin, glycoproteins, etc. These components are strongly linked through hydrogen , covalent, ionic and hydrophobic bondings, which thus confers the self-protection capability on plants. Some processing by-products (hulls, brans, pomaces) of cereal, fruits and vegetables are very limited in further utilization due to their compact structural rigidity. In view of the fact that the plant cell walls are essentially composed of dietary fiber components , solubilization of the strong intermolecular linkage s can contribute to increasing the soluble dietary fiber content and thus diversifying the functional and physiological role of plant cell walls as dietary fiber sources. This article reviews the chemical constituents of cereals, fruits & vegetables and brown seaweeds with reference to their intermoleuclar linkages. An particular emphasis will be placed on the solubilizing phenomena of rigid plant cell walls by extrusion and the resulting change of functional properties. It is suggested that underutilized food resources, typically exemplified by various food processing by-products and surplus seaweeds, can be successfully modified toward improved functional performance by extrusion.

한반도 배경지역 (안면, 울진, 고산) 상수의 산성도와 화학특성 (Acidity and Chemical Composition of Precipitation at Background Area of the Korean Peninsula (Anmyeon, Uljin, Gosan))

  • Precipitation samples were collected at Anmyeon (1997 - 2004), Uljin, and Gosan (1998 ~ 2004), the background area of the Korean Peninsula. These samples were analyzed for the concentration of 9 major ionic components ($F^{-}$,$Cl^{-}$, $NO_{3}^{-}$, $SO_{4}^{2-}$, $Na^{+}$, $NH_{4}^{+}$, $K^{+}$, $Mg^{2+}$, $Ca^{2+}$) with including a pH and an electric conductivity. Data quality for these samples was verified by ion balance and conductivity balance which are based on GAW manual for precipitation chemistry and the number of valid data at Anmyeon, Uljin, and Gosan is 249, 173, and 188, respectively. During the study period, the precipitation-weighted average pH at Anmyeon, Uljin, and Gosan was found to be 4.81, 4.87 and 4.89, respectively and each annual average pH was showed below pH 5.6 for every site. From the frequency survey on the precipitation acidity, the occurrence rate of acid rain below pH 5.6 is greater than $80\%$ for every site. Particularly, the highest occurrence rate for strong acid rain below pH 4.5 was found at Anmyeon, $32.1\%$, compared with other sites ($10.4\%$ at Uljin, $15.4\%$ at Gosan). That's because acidifying species (nss-$SO_{4}^{2-}$, $NO_{3}^{-}$) are remarkably high concentration at Anmyeon.

태안과 강릉지역 여름철 PM10의 수용성 성분 특성 (Characteristic of Water-soluble Components of PM10 at Taean and Gangneung Sites in Summer Season)

  • [ $PM_{10}$ ]measurements were made at two coastal sites, i.e., Taean and Gangneung, for summer to examine the characterization of water-soluble organic carbon (WSOC) and inorganic ionic species, and to investigate their difference between the sites. The fractions of three major inorganic water-soluble components ($NO_3^-$, $SO_4^{2-}$, and $NH_4^+$) at Taean and Gangneung sites were 30.6% (16.2~62.0%) and 25.6% (13.0~52.5%) of the $PM_{10}$, respectively. $SO_4^{2-}$ is the most dominant species of water-soluble ions at both sites, accounting for up to 20.5% (9.1~44.9%) and 16.3% (5.5~34.2%) of their respective PM10 mass concentrations. Using the paired T-test, $PM_{10}$ (p<0.01), $NO_3^-$ (p<0.05), $SO_4^{2-}$ (p<0.01), $NH_4^+$ (p<0.001), and WSOC (p<0.05) concentrations exhibited strong fluctuations on a daily basis between Taean and Gangneung sites. Relationship between the concentrations of $SO_x$ ($SO_4^{2-}+SO_2$) and CO indicates that the slopes of $SO_x$ /CO were 0.007 and 0.019 in the Taean and Gangneung sites, respectively. The smaller $SO_x$/CO slope in the Taean site could be related to the aged air with wet scavenging of $SO_x$ during transport. The correlation between the concentrations of CO and WSOC suggests that WSOC observed in the Gangneung ($R^2$=0.82) be transported from combustion-related sources, while the WSOC at the Taean site could be formed through atmospheric processing of primary volatile organic species during transport.

부산지역 강우의 화학적 특성 I. pH 및 주요이온의 시ㆍ공간적 변화 (Chemical Characteristics of Precipitation in Pusan I. Temporal and spatial variation of pH and major ions)

  • The chemical characteristics of precipitation was investigated in Pusan area. Samples were collected from January to November in 1996 at 4 sites, and analyzed pH, major soluble ionic components(C $l^{[-10]}$ , N $O_3$$^{[-10]}$ , S $O_4$$^{2-}$, N $a^{+}$, $K^{+}$, N $H_4$$^{+}$, $Mg^{2+}$, $Ca^{2+}$). The order of anion and cation concentrations for the initial precipitation were C $l^{[-10]}$ > S $O_4$$^{2-}$ > N $O_3$$^{[-10]}$ , and $Ca^{2+}$ > N $a^{+}$ > N $H_4$$^{+}$$Mg^{2+}$$K^{+}$, respectively. At coastal sites(P1 and P2) C $l^{[-10]}$ and N $a^{+}$ of maritime sources (seasalt) were high, but at inland sites(P3 and P4) nss-C $a^{2+}$ and nss-S $O_4$$^{2-}$ were high. Calcium ion for the initial precipitation showed high value of enrichement factor(EF) relative to seawater composition. The contribution of seasalt to the composition of precipitation was higher at bite P1 (53.5%) than those of the other sites. Throughout the year the concentrations of major ions for the initial precipitation were low in the heavy rain season. The mean pH for the initial precipitation was 5.4 and showed the negative relationship with the precipitaion amount. The S $O_4$$^{2-}$ and N $O_3$$^{[-10]}$ do not play an important role in rain acidification due to the high(97%) neutralizing effect of amonia and calcium species.and calcium species.

수원지역 강하분진의 화학조성및 공간분포 분석 (Chemical Compositions and Spatial Distribution Analysis of Fall-Out Particles in Suwon Area)

  • Deposition is one of the important removal mechanisms for the ambient aerosol, and it also leads to adverse environmental and economic impacts. The purpose of this study was to investigate chemical compositions and spatial distributions of fall-out aerosols. A total number of 340 samples were collected at 35 sampling sites in Suwon area from January to November, 1996. Twelve inorganic elements (Al, Ba, Cd, Cr, K, Pb, Sb, Zn, Cu, Fe, Ni, and V) and eight ionic components ($F^-$, Cl, $NO_3^-$, $SO_4^{2-}$, $Na^+$, $NH_4^+$, $Mg^{2+}$, and $Ca^{2+}$) were analyzed by AAS and IC, respectively. The monthly variation showed that the flux of fall-out particles was increased in the spring season(March, April, and May) and decreased from August to October. Arithmetic mean flux of fall-out particles was 176.8 kg/$ extrm{km}^2$/day during the study period. The fluxes of each chemical species were $SO_4^{2-}$ 12.414, $Ca^{2+}$ 7.369, $NO_3^-$ 5.812, $Cl^-$ 3.566, $NH_4^+$ 3.176, Fe 3.107 kg/$\textrm{km}^2$/day, and so on. By using a kriging analysis, spatial distribution pattern of those fluxes was intensively studied. Total fluxes estimated in Suwon city were 8424.72t/y of fall-out particles, 519.27t/y of $SO_4^{2-}$, 336.79t/y of $Ca^{2+}$,267.34 t/y of $NO_3^+$, 155.36t/y of $Cl^-$, 147.79t/y of Fe.

Chemical Composition Characteristics of Precipitation at Two Sites in Jeju Island

  • The major ionic components of precipitation collected at the 1100 Site of Mt. Halla and Jeju city have been determined. The reliability of the analytical data was verified by the comparison of ion balances, electric conductivities and acid fractions; all of their correlation coefficients were above 0.94. Ionic strengths lower than $10^{-4}$ M were found in 53% of the 1100 Site samples and 28% of the Jeju city samples. Compared with other inland areas, the wet deposition of $Na^+,\;Cl^-\;and\;Mg^{2+}$ was relatively larger, but that of $NH_4^+,\;nss-SO_4^{2-}$(non-sea salt sulfate) and $NO_3^-$ was lower. Especially the wet deposition increase of $Ca^{2+}$ in the spring season supports the possibility of the Asian Dust effect. The acidification of precipitation was caused mostly by $SO_4^{2-}\;and\;NO_3^-$ in the Jeju area, and the organic acids have contributed only about 7% to the acidity. The neutralization factors by NH₃were 0.47 and 0.48, and that of CaCO₃was 0.31 and 0.25 at the 1100 Site and Jeju city, respectively. Investigation into major influencing sources on precipitation components by factor analysis showed that the precipitation at the 1100 Site had been influenced mostly by an anthropogenic source, followed by soil and seawater sources. The precipitation at Jeju city was mainly influenced by oceanic sources, followed by anthropogenic and soil sources.

2009~2010년 제주지역 강우의 오염 특성 연구 (Pollution Characteristics of Rainwater at Jeju Island during 2009~2010)

  • The collection of rainwater samples was made at Jeju area during 2009~2010, and the major ionic species were analyzed. In the comparison of ion balance, conductivity, and acid fraction for the validation of analytical data, the correlation coefficients showed a good linear relationship within the range of 0.966~0.990. The volume-weighted mean pH and electric conductivity were 4.9 and $17.8{\mu}S/cm$, respectively, at the Jeju area. The volume-weighted mean concentrations of ionic species in rainwater were in the order of $Cl^-$ > $Na^+$ > $nss-SO_4{^{2-}}$ > $NH_4{^+}$ > $NO_3{^-}$ > $Mg^{2+}$ > $H^+$ > $nss-Ca^{2+}$ > $HCOO^-$ > $K^+$ > $PO_4{^{3-}}$ > $CH_3COO^-$ > $NO_2{^-}$ > $F^-$ > $HCO_3{^-}$ > $CH_3SO_3{^-}$. The ionic strength of rainwater was $0.26{\pm}0.21$ mM during the study period. The composition ratios of ionic species were such as 50.1% for the marine sources ($Na^+$, $Mg^{2+}$, $Cl^-$), 30.9% for the anthropogenic sources ($NH_4{^+}$, $nss-SO_4{^{2-}}$, $NO_3{^-}$), and 4.7% for the soil source ($nss-Ca^{2+}$), and 3.1% for organic acids ($HCOO^-$, $CH_3COO^-$). From the seasonal comparison, the concentrations of $NO_3{^-}$, $nss-Ca^{2+}$, and $nss-SO_4{^{2-}}$ increased in winter and spring seasons, indicating a reasonable possibility of long range transport from Asia continent. Especially, the acidifying contributions by major inorganic acids ($nss-SO_4{^{2-}}$ and $NO_3{^-}$) and organic acids ($HCOO^-$ and $CH_3COO^-$) were 87.6% and 12.4%, respectively. In comparison by sectional inflow pathway of air mass during the rainy sampling days, the concentrations of $nss-SO_4{^{2-}}$ and $NO_3{^-}$ were relatively high when the air mass was moved from the China continent into Jeju area.

가교결합형 poly(POEM-co-AMPSLi-co-GMA) 전해질의 합성과 물리화학적 특성 (Synthesis of Crosslinked Poly(POEM-co-AMPSLi-co-GMA) Electrolytes and Physicochemical Properties)

  • 본 실험에서는 다양한 조성의 AMPS, POEM 및 GMA를 함유하는 공중합체를 합성하고, AMPS의 술폰산기와 $Li_2CO_3$와의 산염기 반응 및 에폭시기의 가교반응을 유도하여 가교결합된 poly(POEM-co-AMPSLi-co-GMA) 전해질을 제조하였다. POEM의 결정융점은 AMPS 및 POEM의 몰분율에 따라 변화되는 특징을 관찰할 수 있었으며, 리튬이온이 도입된 이후 대체적으로 감소되는 경향이 나타났다. 가교된 고분자의 이온전도도는 GMA의 함량이 증가할수록 다소 감소되는 결과가 나타났지만, 16 mol%까지는 $1.0{\times}10^{-6}S\;cm^{-1}$ 이상의 값을 보여주었다. 특히, 자기-도핑형 전해질임에도 불구하고 2 mol%에서 최대 $4.08{\times}10^{-6}S\;cm^{-1}$의 높은 상온이온전도도가 얻어졌으며, 상온에서 6 V까지 우수한 전기화학적 안정성을 보여주었다. 또한 가교된 고분자전해질은 필름성형이 가능하며, 0.11 MPa의 탄성계수 및 270%의 변형율을 보여주었다.
