Variation of Conductivity of Fullerite Structures Under Different Types of Pressure

  • It is known that the conductivity of fullerite depends on the applied pressure. In this paper we compare the variation of conductivity of three different fullerite structure with pressure. We examined $C_{60}$ powder, filled into thin glass capillaries and also studied fullerite nanotubules produced within etched swift heavy ion tracks in polymer foils. These investigations are compared with the results of planar Si-$C_{60}$-Au structures.

  • In plasma source ion implantation, the target is immersed in the plasma and repetitively biased by negative high voltage pulses to implant the extracted ions from plasma into the surface of the target material. In this way, the problems of line-of-sight implantation in ion-beam ion implantation technique can be effectively solved. In addition, the high dose rate and simplicity of the equipment enable the ion implantation a commercially affordable process. In this work, plasma source ion implantation technique was used to improve the wear resistance of Co-cemented WC. which has been extensively used for high speed tools. Nitrogen and carbon ions were implanted using the pulse bias of -602kV, 25 sec and at various implantation conditions. The implanted samples were examined using scanning Auger electron spectroscopy and XPS to investigate the depth distributions of implanted ions and to reveal the chemical state change due to the ion implantation. The implanted ions were found to have penetrated to the depth of 3000$\AA$. The wear resistance of the implanted samples was measured using pin-on-disc wear tester and the wear tracks were examined with alpha-step profilometer.

이온주입식 자기 버블 전파 회로에서의 자기 버블의 등방성 전파 (Isotropic Magnetic Bubble Propagation in Ion Implanted Magnetic Bubble Propagation Tracks)

  • 자기 응력 계수의 변화에 따른 자기 버블의 등방성 전파 여부를 규명하기 위하여 자기 응력 계수가 거의 등방화(${\lambda}111{\simeq}{\lambda}100$) 된 세가지 버블 가네박막(AK92, AKa8, AKb1)의 바이어스 마진과 버블 소멸 자장을 $2.5{\mu}m$ 주기를 갖는 다이아몬드 패턴에서 측정하였다. 측정 결과 바이어스 마진은 각 박막의 경우 우수, 보통, 열등 회로에서 상당히 등방화된 값을 얻을 수 있었다. 버블 소멸 자장으로부터 회전 자장의 방향에 따른 버블 포텐셜 우물을 구하였다. 버블 포텐셜 우물로부터 자기 응력 이방성 정도를 나타내는 ${\Delta}(=({\lambda}111-{\lambda}100)/{\lambda}111)$값이 0.5인 AK92인 경우 우수, 보통, 열등 회로에서 버블 포텐셜 우물이 상당한 차이가 있는 반면 0.3인 AKa8과 0.1인 AKb1의 경우 각 회로에서 거의 등방화가 이루어진 것을 볼 수 있었다. 위의 두가지 측정 결과에서 ${\Delta}$값이 0.1~0.3일때 거의 등방적인 버블 전파가 일어남을 알 수 있었다.

플라즈마 증착방식에 의해 DLC코팅된 알루미나 세라믹의 코팅박막 특성에 관한 연구 (CHARACTERISTICS OF DIAMONDLIKE CARBON COATED ALUMINA SEALS AT TEMPERATURES UP TO $400^{\circ}C$)

  • Diamondlike carbon (DLC) coatings were deposited on alumina ceramic seals using a plasma immersion ion deposition technique (PIID). Then they were subjected to tribological tests using a pin-on-disc tribometer under a high load (1.3 GPa) and under elevated temperatures up to 400C. Coefficients of friction (COFs) were recorded and compared with that of the untreated alumina while the wear tracks were analyzed using SEM with EDS to characterize the DLC films. To enhance the DLC adhesion to the substrate, various interlayers including Si and Cr were deposited using the PIID process or an ion beam assisted deposition (IBAD) method. It was observed that the DLC coating, if adhering well to the substrate, reduced the COFs significantly, from 0.4-0.8 for the uncoated alumina to about 0.05-0.1, within the tested temperature range. The adhesion was determined by the interlayer type and possibly by the application method. Cr interlayer did not perform as well as the Si interlayer. This could also be due to the fact that the Cr interlayer and the subsequent DLC coating had to be done in two different processing systems, while both the Si interlayer and the subsequent DLC film were deposited in one system without breaking the chamber. The coating failure mode was found to be delamination between the Cr and the alumina substrate. In contrast, the Si interlayer with proper DLC deposition procedures resulted in very good adhesion and hence excellent tribological performance. Further study may lead to future DLC applications of ceramic seals.

  • In this paper, a new method to track the maximum power point is presented. The proposed scheme achieves the maximum power the step-up chopper, which tracks the maximum power point by sensing only the actual current from the photovoltaic array. Also it adopts the protect ion circuit to protect the battery system against the overvoltage and overvoltage by utilizing hysterisis characteristic.

A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM WITH ABSORBED DOSE

  • In some situations, for example at very low doses, in microbeam irradiation experiments, or around high energy heavy ion tracks, use of the absorbed dose to describe the energy transferred to the irradiated target can be misleading. Since absorbed dose is the expected value of energy per mass it takes into account all of the targets which do not have any energy deposition. In many situations that results in numerical values, in Joules per kg, which are much less than the energy deposited in targets that have been crossed by a charged particle track. This can lead to confusion about the biochemical processes that lead to the consequences of irradiation. There are a few alternative approaches to describing radiation that avoid this potential confusion. Examples of specific situations that can lead to confusion are given. It is concluded that using the particle radiance spectrum and the exposure time, instead of absorbed dose, to describe these irradiations minimizes the potential for confusion about the actual nature of the energy deposition.

Particle-in-cell 기법을 이용한 전자기장내 플라즈마 입자의 거동 해석 (Numerical Analysis on Plasma Particles inside Electro-magnetic Field Using Particle-in-cell Method)

  • 플라자마의 거동을 오일러리안 격자와 라그랑지안 입자를 혼합하여 해석하는 Particle-in-cell 기법을 적용하여 간략화된 홀추력기를 해석하였다. 본 연구는 중성입자, 이온입자 뿐만 아니라 전자도 라그랑지안 기법으로 개별추적 계산하기 때문에 message passing interface 기법을 이용해 대용량 계산이 가능한 병렬클러스터링을 적용하였다. 계산에 앞서 일정한 벡터의 자기장에서 전자군의 나선형 거동을 해석하였고, 절대해와 일치함을 확인하여 코드를 검증하였다. 실린더 내부에 반경방향으로 일정한 자기장과 축방향으로 일정한 전기장을 고정시켜 플라즈마의 거동을 PIC 모델을 이용하여 해석하였다. 반응 실린더 내부에 전자가 로렌츠 힘에 의해 이중나선을 그리며 구속되는 현상이 잘 포착되었고, 고속 회전하는 전자와 주입된 중성입자가 충돌하여 이온화 되었고, 대전된 입자가 축방향의 전기장에 의해 급 가속하는 현상 또한 잘 모사되어 플라즈마의 플룸 거동을 모사하였다.
