내마모 구조 코팅용 Cr-Al-Si-N 코팅막의 미세구조와 기계적 특성에 관한 연구 (Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Cr-Al-Si-N Coatings for Wear Resistant and Structural Applications)

  • Cr-Al-Si-N coatings were deposited on WC-Co substrates by a hybrid coating system of arc ion plating and DC magnet :on sputtering technique in $N_2/Ar$ mixture. The Cr-tll-Si-N coatings were synthesized with different Si contents. Their microstructure and mechanical properties were systematically investigated. The average size of crystallites largely decreases with the increase of Si content compared with Cr-Al-N. The microhardness of Cr-Al-Si-N coatings largely increases from 24 to 55 GPa. The enhanced hardness is believed to originate from the microstructural change by the fine composite microstructure of Cr-Al-N coatings with Si addition. The average friction coefficient of Cr-Al-Si-N coatings decreases from 0.84 to 0.45 with increasing Si content up to $16\;at.\%$.

엔드밀의 TiN 코팅조건과 절삭력 증가율과의 관계 (The relation of TiN coating condition of end-mill and cutting force increase rate)

  • TiN coating of high speed end mill is recently generalized. The study of coating layer using ion plating is mainly about the coating method and the why of the longer life of coated tools. In CNC machning process, metal cutting isn't carry out until the tools including the end-mill and so on are fractured. Namely, it is difficult precision processing when the cutting force of the cutting tool is near the limit the fracture cutting force. So, the estimate of the life by wear and fracture is important. Therefore, this study is about the method to estimate the capacity of the coating layer in relation to the tendency of cutting force and the influence of the cutting capacity of coated end-mill by the condition N2, Ar, temperature. The cutting length is in inverse proportion to the cutting force ratio. So, the life of the TiN coated end mill can be predicated by the ratio of the increase of the cutting force.

  • 하이브리드 코팅장비를 이용해 WC-CO기판위에 Ti-Si-N박막을 증착 시켰다. 이 연구는 Ti-Si-N박막의 기계적 성질에 온도와 바이어스가 미치는 영향에 대해 실험을 하였다. 증착온도가 $300^{\circ}C$까진 Ti-Si-N박막의 미세경도와 탄성률은 증가했지만 증착온도가 $300{\sim}350^{\circ}C$에서는 탄성률은 감소하고 결정 성장으로 인해 미세경도는 감소하였다. 기판 바이어스는 박막과 미세구조에 압축 잔류 응력을 야기 시킨다. 그러나 기판바이어스가 -400V 이상에서는 re-sputtering에 의해 Si함량이 감소한다. Ti-Si-N 박막의 가장 우수한 기계적 성질은 $300^{\circ}C$, -100V에서 얻을 수 있었다.

  • Cr-Mo-Si-N 코팅막은 AISI D2 모재와 Si 모재위에 $Ar/N_2$ 혼합기체를 사용하여 AIP (arc ion plating) 방법과 마그네트론 스퍼터링 (DC magnetron sputtering) 방법을 결합시킨 하이브리드 코팅시스템을 이용하여, 증착하였다. XRD, HRTEM, XPS 등의 분석장비를 이용하여 Cr-Mo-Si-N 코팅의 미세구조를 관찰하였다. Cr-Mo-Si-N 코팅의 경도는 Si함량이 12.1 at.%에서 약 50 GPa의 최고치를 나타냈으며, 평균 마찰계수는 Si 함량이 증가할수록 감소하였다.

  • The bolts used for the electronic parts of a car a is the important parts which carry out an electric and physical performance. At the time of storage, transportation and use, Corrosion occurs in bolts under the influence of environmental factor. During the period exported especially overseas the chemical corrosion by the chlorine ion contained in the atmosphere occurs frequency. Then, The failure mechanism over corrosion is investigated and we consider to the design procedure of a environmental examination. We are going to select the proper plating thickness of bolts through a salt spray test, for investigating the corrosion resistance of bolts.

The effect of metal composition on the structure and properties of Ti-Cu-N superhard nanocomposite coatings

  • Ti-Cu-N nanocomposite films deposited by arc ion plating and magnetron sputter hybrid system with various copper contents. The microstructure and mechanical properties of Ti-Cu-N superhard nanocomposite films depend on the Cu concentration. In X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, intensity of TiN (111) and TiN (220) peak decreased and peak broadness increased with increasing the copper contents and Cu peak was not detected. The grain size of films decreased with increasing at%Cu and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) analysis also showed that Ti-Cu-N film containing 1.5at%Cu was composed of very fine (<10nm) nanocrystalline grains. The maximum hardness of Ti-Cu-N (1.5at%Cu) film reached to 45GPa and friction coefficient was measured 0.3.

치과용 임플란트 나사의 풀림에 미치는 표면코팅 효과 (EFFECTS OF SURFACE COATING ON THE SCREW RELEASE OF DENTAL IMPLANT SCREW)

  • Statement of problem: Implant screw loosening has been remained problem in restorative practices. Surface treatment of screw plays a role of preventing screw from loosening in implant screw mechanism. Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate surface characteristics of TiN and ZrN film ion plated screw with titanium and gold alloy screw and to evaluate wear resistance, surface roughness, and film adhesion on screw surface using various instruments. Material and methods : GoldTite screws and titanium screws provided by 3i (Implant Innovation, USA) and TorqTite screws or titanium screws by Steri-Oss (Nobel Biocare, USA) and gold screws and titanium screws by AVANA (Osstem Implant, korea) were selected. Ion plating which is much superior to other surface modification techniques was carried out for gold screws and titanium screws using Ti and Zr coating materials with nitrogen gas. Ion nitrided surface of each abutment screw was observed with field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM, micro-diamond scratch tester, vickers hardness tester, and surface roughness tester. Results : 1) The surface of gold screw and GoldTite is more smooth than ones of other kinds of non coated screw. 2) The ZrN and TiN coated surface is the more smooth than ones of other kinds of screw. 3) The hardness of TiN and ZrN coated surface showed higher than that of non coated surface. 4) The TiN coated titanium screw and ZrN coated gold screw have a good wear resistance and adhesion on the surface. 5) The surface of ZrN coated screw showed low surface roughness compared with the surface of TiN coated screw. Conclusion : It is considered that the TiN and ZrN coated screw which would prevent a screw from loosening can be applicable to implant system and confirmed that TiN and ZrN film act as lubricant on surface of screw due to decrease of friction for recycled tightening and loosening.

철이온이 Arabidopsis thaliana 초기 원형질체배양의 세포분열 및 미세 캘러스 생장에 미치는 효과 (Effect of Iron Ion on Cell Division and Microcallus Growth in Mesophyll Protoplast Cultures of Arabidopsis thaliana)

  • 철이온이 Arabidopsis thaliana의 mesophyll protoplasts 배양에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위하여 mesophyll protoplasts를 분리한 후 변형시킨 IMH 배지에 서로 다른 농도의 Fe-EDTA를 조성하여 배양하는 동안 나타나는 현상들을 관찰하였다. 세포분열률, 미세캘러스의 생장 및 첫번째 세포분열의 시기 등이 Fe-EDTA 농도에 따라 현저히 달라짐을 확인하였다. 대조군에서는 전혀 세포분열이 관찰되지 않았으며, 0.02 mM 미만의 저농도에서는 세포분열률이 낮았다. 0.5-1 mM에서 가장 빠른 세포분열과 높은 분열률을 보였으며 미세캘러스의 형성과 생장도 가장 빨랐다. 낮은 농도(0-0.25 mM)의 Fe-EDTA가 첨가된 배지에서는 농도의 증가와 비례하여 분열률이 높아졌고, 첫 세포분열의 시기와 미세캘러스의 생장 또한 농도의 증가에 비례하여 촉진되는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 이러한 현상은 1 mM에서최고치를 보인 후 그 이상의 농도에서는 농도의 배가에 따라 효율이 현저히 감소되는 것으로 관찰되었다. 본 연구에서 엽육세포 원형질체의 세포분열 및 미세캘러스의 생장이 최대로 나타났던 0.5-1 mM 철이온 농도는 현재 일반적으로 사용되고 있는 배지들에 비해 5-10배의 높은 농도이다.

안면신경마비 동물모델에서 전기활성고분자를 이용한 눈 깜박임 기능의 회복 (Restoration of Blink Function in the Paralyzed Rabbit Using Electroactive Polymer)

  • There have been numerous modalities to recover blink function of orbicularis oculi muscle in patients with facial paralysis. However, there is still no optimal method for reanimation of eyelid. In this study, we tried to recover blink function of paralyzed rabbit's eyelid with the ion polymer metal composite (IPMC) which is one of the electroactive polymers that is spotlighted as artificial muscle. We manufactured IPMC by plating the platinum over perfluorosulphonic acid polymer ($Nafion^{(R)}$). IPMC was coated by Norland optical adhesive for the purpose of insulation and keeping it from dry. IPMC modifications by roughening the surface of Nafion, repetitive plating (maximum 4 times) with platinum, and lengthening the width of IPMC were done. The facial paralysis was induced in the rabbit by sectioning of facial nerve at the main trunk. After minimum period of 4 weeks, IPMC was inserted in the paralyzed rabbit's eyelid. By modification, the force generated by IPMC was enhanced. Restoration of blink function in paralyzed rabbit was achieved on electrical stimulation of the IPMC by 5 voltage direct current. IPMC can be promising option for facial reanimation, but further studies are needed to enhance the efficiency of IPMC.

Wear behaviors of HVOF spray coating of Co-alloy T800

  • HVOF thermal spray coating of Co-alloy T800 is progressively replacing the classical hard coatings such as chrome plating because of the very toxic $Cr^{6+}$ ion known as carcinogen causing lung cancer. For the study of the possibility of replacing of chrome plating, the wear properties of HVOF Co-alloy T800 coatings are investigated using the reciprocating sliding tester both at room and at an elevated temperature of $1000^{\circ}F\;(538^{\circ}C)$. The possibility as durability improvement coating is studied for the application to the high speed spindles vulnerable to frictional heat and wear. Wear mechanisms at the reciprocating sliding wear test are studied for the application to the systems similar to the sliding test such as high speed spindles. Wear debris and frictional coefficients of T800 coatings both at room and at an elevated temperature of $1000^{\circ}F\;(538^{\circ}C)$ are drastically reduced compared to those of non-coated surface of parent substrate Inconel 718. This study shows that the coating is recommendable for the durability improvement coatings on the surfaces vulnerable to frictional heat. The sliding surfaces are weared by the mixed mechanisms such as oxidative wear, abrasion by the sliding ball slurry erosion by the mixture of solid particles and small drops of the melts and semi-melts of the attrited particles cavitation by the relative motions among the coating, sliding ball, the melts and semi-melts. and corrosive wear. The oxide particles and the melts and semi-melts play roles as solid and liquid lubricant reducing the wear and friction coefficient.
