  • This paper presents a digital LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) backlight inverter control using an 8-bit microcontroller. The backlight uses cold cathode fluorescent lamps(CCFLs) that have the negative resistance characteristics, so it requires the ballast function. For this, the proposed LCD backlight inverter uses an 8-bit microcontroller, ATmega128. Therefore, the controller circuit is simplified and cost-minimized. It shows through the experimental results that the proposed inverter has good performance for the LCD backlight inverter.

  • This paper presents active-clamp class-E high frequency resonant inverter with single-stage. The proposed circuit is integrated active-clamp class-E circuit to boost converter with the function of power factor correction. Boost converter is operated in positive and negative half cycle respectively at line frequency(60Hz), Such a operating in discontinuous conduction mode(DCM) of boost converter performs high power factor. By adding active-clamp circuit in class-E inverter, main switch of inverter part is operated not only ZVS(Zero Voltage Switch) but also reduced the switching voltage stress of main switch. This paper shows that simulation result using Psim 4.1 prove the validity of theoretical analysis. This proposed inverter will be able to be practically used as a power supply in various fields as induction heating applications, DC-DC converter etc.

The motor control system with TG feedback controller as an effect of load disturbance, it is very difficult to guarantee the robustness of control system. The function of the implementation are TG feedback type, and temperature scheme. The Inverter Control System approach is based on master-slave control concept. To show validity of the developed new inverter control system, severial experiments are illustrated.

  • This paper describes IEC 61727 standard of Photovoltaic (PV) systems -Characteristics of the utility interface. IEC 61727 standard tests include utility compatibility and personnel safety and equipment protection of PV inverter performance functions. Especially utility compatibility part includes test items of 1) voltage, current and frequency, 2) normal voltage operating range, 3) flicker, 4) DC injection, 5) normal frequency operating range, 6) harmonics and 7) waveform distortion, 8) power factor of PV inverter. Also personnel safety and equipment protection part includes test items 1)loss of utility voltage, 2)over/under voltage and frequency, 3)Islanding protection, 4)response to utility recovery, 5)earthing, 6)short circuit protection, 7)Isolation and switching of PV inverter. In this paper, each item of IEC 61727 standard test is studied and analyzed and finally full tested by PV inverter performance function.

  • The time sharing type high frequency inverter using serial-parallel resonant to give VVVF function in the inverter used as power source of induction heating at high frequency is presented in this paper. This proposed inverter can reduce distribution of the switching current because of using the current of serial resonant circuit to the input current of the parallel one. The analysis of the proposed circuit is generally described by using the normalized parameters. Also, according to the calculated characteristics value, a method of the circuit design and operating characteristics of the inverter is proposed. In addition, this paper proves the validity of theoretical analysis through Simulation. This proposed inverter show that it can be practically used in future as power source system for induction heating application, DC-DC converter etc.

  • Inverters are widely used in distributed power generation and other applications. However, their lack of inertia and variable impedance may cause system instability and power transfer inaccuracy. This paper proposes a control scheme for a single phase voltage-controlled inverter with some grid-friendly characteristics. The proposed control algorithm enables the inverter to function as a voltage source with an inner output impedance in both the islanded and grid-connected modes. Virtual inertia and rotor equations are embedded in the PLL part. Thus, the frequency stability can remain. The inner output impedance can be adjusted freely, which helps to accurately decouple and transmit the output active and reactive power. The proposed inverter operates like a traditional synchronous generator. Simulations and experiments are designed and carried out to verify the proposed control strategy.

  • The photovoltaic inverter is a system which transforms the solar energy to the electrical energy. Because the output of photovoltaic inverter depends on solar radiation, it is necessary to save generated power or to interface with utility line. This paper describes a 2KVA photovoltaic inverter utilizing IGBT, designed to have a very high efficiency in stand alone mode and to have the function synchronizing the phase between inverter and utility voltage as a fundamental study for utility interactive mode.
