  • In order to assess the feasibility of the dipole-dipole electric method to the investigation of metallic ore deposit, both field data simulation and inversion are carried out for several simplified ore deposit models. Our interest is in a vein-type model, because most of the ore deposits (more than 70%) exist in a vein type in Korea. Based on the fact that the width of the vein-type ore deposits ranges from tens of centimeters to 2m, we change the width and the material property of the vein, and we use 40m-electrode spacing for our test. For the vein-type model with too small width, the low resistivity zone is not detected, even though the resistivity of the vein amounts to 1/300 of that of the surrounding rock. Considering a wide electrode interval and cell size used in the inversion, it is natural that the size of the low resistivity zone is overestimated. We also perform field data simulation and inversion for a vein-type model with surrounding hydrothermal alteration zones, which is a typical structure in an epithermal ore deposits. In the model, the material properties are assumed on the basis of resistivity values directly observed in a mine originated from an epithermal ore deposits. From this simulation, we can also note that the high resistivity value of the vein does not affect the results when the width of the vein is narrow. This indicates that our main target should be surrounding hydrothermal alteration zones rather than veins in field survey. From these results, we can summarize that when the vein is placed at the deep part and the difference of resistivity values between the vein and the surrounding rock is not large enough, we cannot detect low resistivity zone and interpret the subsurface structures incorrectly using the electric method performed at the surface. Although this work is a little simple, it can be used as references for field survey design and field data Interpretation. If we perform field data simulation and inversion for a number of models and provide some references, they will be helpful in real field survey and interpretation.

  • Purpose : The purpose of the present study is to report the effect of proprioception of ankle after kinesiotaping application on ankle. Method : This study has conducted to target 30 average adult subjects with no damage to the ankle joint (16 males and 14 females). The group is divided into experimental group and sham groups in random way. The subjects in the experimental group are applied taping kinesiology on ankle joint. The subjects in the sham group are applied a sham taping on the ankle joint which is not actually affected for real ankle joint problem. Each subjects in both groups has tree trials in plantarflexion, dorsiflexion, inversion, and eversion before and after application of the kinesiotaping or sham taping of the bare footed ankle. The outcome were determined from the difference between the target angle and the trial angle produced by the subject. Results : These results from the experiment shows that the experimental group compared to the difference in kinesiotaping angle values were significantly different from each dorsiflexion (DF), eversion (EV) (p<.05). Otherwise, in the sham group did not produce significant differences in any joint movement. In addition, when we compared between two groups (the experimental and sham groups), it did not show that there was significant differences. Conclusion : First, there is no significant difference between the sham group and kinesiotaping group after proprioceptive tests. Second, even though there is no significant outcome in statistical analysis, there is actual differences in the experiment. This result might be ceiling effect, and if the kinesiotaping were applied to actual ankle injury patients, this taping treatment could be very effective for curing this patient.

  • Growth and development of a higher plant, or any living organism for that matter, could be defined as an orderly expression of the genome in time and space in close interaction with the environment. During differentiation and development of a tissue or organ a group of genes must be selectively turned on or turned off mainly by trans-acting regulators. In this general concept of regulation of regulation of gene expression, a DNA molecule is recognized at a specific nucleotide sequence by DNA-binding factors. Molecular biology of the regulatory factors such as hormones, and their receptors, target DNA sequences and DNA-binding proteins are well advanced. What is not clearly understood is the molecular basis of the interactions between DNA and binding factors, expecially of the usages of the dyad symmetry of the target DNA sequences and the dimeric nature of the DNA-binding proteins. A unique 3-dimensional structure of DNA has been proposed that may play an important role in the orderly expression of the gene. A foldback intercoil (FBI) DNA configuration which was originally found by electron microscopy among mtDNA molecules from pearl millet has some unique features. The FBI configuration of DNA is believed to be formed when a flexible double helix folds back and interwines in the widened major grooves resulting in a four stranded, intercoil DNA whose thickness is the same as that of double stranded DNA. More recently, the FBI structure of DNA has been also induced in vitro by a novel enzyme which was purified from pearl millet mitochondria. It has been proposed that the FBI DNA could be utillized in intramolecular recombination which leads to inversion or deletion, and in intermolecular recombination which can lead to either site-specific recombination, genetic recombination via single strand invasion, or cross strand recombination. The structure and function of DNA in 3-dimensional aspect is emphasized for better understanding orderly expression of genes during growth and development.

  • To detect targets with active sonar system in the underwater environments, the targets are localized by receiving the echoes of the transmitted sounds reflected from the targets. In this case, reverberation from the scatterers is also generated, which prevents detection of the target echo. To detect the target effectively, reverberation suppression techniques such as pre-whitening based on autoregressive model and principal component inversion have been studied, and recently a Non-negative Matrix Factorization (NMF)-based technique has been also devised. The NMF-based reverberation suppression technique shows improved performance compared to the conventional methods, but the geometry of the transducer and receiver and attenuation by distance have not been considered. In this paper, the performance is improved through preprocessing such as the directionality of the receiver, Doppler related thereto, and attenuation for distance, in the case of using a continuous wave with a bistatic sonar. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed system, simulation with a reverberation model was performed. The results show that the detection probability performance improved by 10 % to 40 % at a low false alarm probability of 1 % relative to the conventional non-negative matrix factorization.

  • As we see the continuation of the increase in the speed of the High Speed railroad worldwide, there is a concern for a possible problem in the connecting transition zone in the railway infrastructure. Honam High Speed railroad's transition zone in the hub for the rotation structures and other supporting structures such as approach slab, sub slab, approach block, etc. Due to its increase in speed of the design speed, and its important role on the driving stability and credibility of the bearing ground performance, we must seek and fine a prevention plan for a cause of differential settlement, as well as the cause of the derailment. In this dissertation, domestic, as well as international design manuals and the applicability of the control standards are studied. Also through the study target, Honam High Speed railroad zone 4-1, we evaluated the connecting componant of the Yeon-Jeong bridge through the eigenvalue and weight transfer of the train when operated at 300km/h, 350km/h, 400km/h, 450km/h, and were able to achieve detailed assessment by checking track behaviors, looking at various components such as the rotation acceleration according to the inversion of the distance length, displace length, displacement and stress distribution. Through these studied, possibility of operating at 400km/h was evaluated based on the condition of the current design basis.

  • In this paper, we presented a signal model of STAP and actual environment of clutter. The novel estimation method of clutter covariance matrix using median value is proposed to overcome serious performance degradation after NHD in nonhomogeneous clutter. Eigen value characteristic is improved through diagonal loading. Target detection ability and SINR loss of the proposed method though MSMI statistic is also compared with conventional method using average value. The simulation results, confirm the proposed method has better performance than others.

  • Gravity method could be one of the most effective tool for evaluating the soundness of basement which is directly correlated with density and its variations. Moreover, Gravimeter is easy to handle and strong to electromagnetic noises. But, gravity anomaly due to the target structures in engineering and environmemtal applications are too small to detect, comparing to the external changes, such as, elevation, topography, and regional geological variations. Gravity method targeting these kinds of small anomaly sources with high precision usually called microgravity. Microgravimetry with precision and accuracy of few ${\mu}Gal$, can be achieved by the recent high-resolution gravimeter, careful field acquisition, and sophisticated processing, analysis, and interpretation routines. This paper describes the application of the microgravity, such as, density structure of a rock fill dam, detection of abandoned mine-shaft, detection and mapping of karstic cavities in limestone terrains, and time-lapse gravity for grout monitoring. The case studies show how the gravity anomalies detect the location of the targets and reveal the geologic structure by mapping density distributions and their variations.

  • A geophysical mapping was performed for Hwasan caldera which is located in Euisung Sub-basin of the southeastern part of the Korean Peninsula. In order to overcome the limitation of the previous studies, remote sensing technic was used and dense potential data were obtained and analyzed. First, we analyzed geological lineament for target area using geological map, digital elevation model (DEM) data and satellite imagery. The results were greatly consistent with the previous studies, and showed that N-S and NW-SE direction are the most dominant one in target area. Second, based on the lineament analysis, highly dense gravity data were acquired in Euisung Sub-basin and an integrated interpretation considering air-born magnetic data was made to investigate the regional structure of the target area. The results of power spectrum analysis for the acquired potential data revealed that the subsurface of Euisung Sub-basin have two density discontinuities at about 1 km and 3-5 km depth. A 1 km depth discontinuity is thought as the depth of pyroclastic sedimentary rocks or igneous rocks which were intruded at the ring vent of Hwasan caldera, while a 3-5 km depth discontinuity seems to be associated with the depth of the basin basement. In addition, three-dimensional gravity inversion for the total area of Euisung Sub-basin was carried out, and the inversion results indicated two followings; 1) Cretaceous Palgongsan granite and Bulguksa intrusion rocks, which are located in southeastern part and northeastern part of Euisung Sub-basin, show two major low density anomalies, 2) pyroclastic rocks around Hwasan caldera also have lower density when compared with those of neighborhood regions and are extended to 1.5 km depth. However, a poor vertical resolution of potential survey makes it difficult to accurately delineate the detailed structure caldera which has a vertically developed characteristic in general. To overcome this limitation, integrated analysis was carried out using the magnetotelluric data on the corresponding area with potential data and we could obtain more reasonable geologic structure.

  • The information of contrast media concentration on target organ is very important to get reduce the side effect and high contrast imaging. We investigated alternation of signal intensity as a function of the modality of Gd-based contrast media on spin echo and ultra short time echo (UTE) of T1 effective pulse sequence at 3T MRI unit. Gadoxetic acid, which is a MRI T1 contrast medium, was used to manufacture an agarose phantom diluted in various molarities, and sterile water and agarose 2% were used as the buffer solution for the dilution. The gold standard T1 calculation was based on coronal single section imaging of the phantom mid-point with 2D Inversion recovery spine-echo pulse sequence MR imaging for testing of phantom accuracy. The 1-2mmol/L and 7mmol/L was shown the maximum signal intensity on spin echo and UTE respectively. We confirm the difference of contrast media concentration which was shown the maximum signal intensity depending on the T1 effective pulse sequence.

  • This paper describes a design method using an optimization technique to satisfy the longitudinal handling quality of high maneuverable jet aircraft. The dynamic inversion technique was applied to the target aircraft, and the control gain optimization satisfied the longitudinal short-period handling quality, however, the stability margin was not considered. If the stability margin is not satisfied, it is necessary to directly readjust the gains through trial and error methods for improvement. To improve this, an additional compensator and an optimization constraint were added to the control gain optimization procedure. In addition, the degree of handling quality satisfaction with the optimization result was reevaluated, and additional control evaluation criteria for the convergence of the time response and the steady state error that the flight performance requirement set as the optimization constraint cannot be reflected, and the results are described.
