  • An angular spectral inverse technique, applying the moment method procedure with a series expansion for the induced field in each enlarged cell, is suggested to reconstruct permittivity profiles of inhomogeneous dielectric objects and to reduce the ill-posedness inherent to inverse scattering problems. The angular spectral inverse scattering using the pulse basis function in enlarging the scatterer has the ill-posedness due to the input data of higher spectra. To reduce the number of higher spectra, enlarging the cell size and averaging over the cell with a suitable weighting function are found to play improtant roles for the reduction of ill-posedness of the angular spectral inverse scattering problems.

  • In this paper, it proposes the technique to restore from a binary image in the color image. The color image is composed of three element images of red, green and blue. Therefore, the color image is first divided into a red, green, and blue element, and the Inverse Halftoning[2]$\sim$[4] is processed to each element images. Finally, each element images is collectively displayed. In that case, the Kalman filter was applied to the Inverse Halftoning for the restoration accuracy improvement of the image. As a result, it was possible to restore it in the color image as well as the time of a monochrome image. Moreover, the result that the restoration accuracy had improved even when which combining with the technique by using the Kalman filter for the Inverse Halftoning so far came out.

  • This paper presents a fast and accurate contingency analysis in EHV systems for line outages, loss of generation of redispatching and loss-of-load or load management. Unlike other contingencies, line outage requires the modification of the Jacobian of the base case power flow and the calculation of its new inverse, which is substantially different from the original inverse. In this paper, we obtain the inverse of the new Jacobian from the original inverse without repeating the time consuming matrix inversion process. Numerical test results show the significant improvement in the accuracies compared with those obtained using the original inverse.

  • This paper presents a method for the inverse dynamic anlaysis of mechanical systems. Actuating forces(or torques) depending on the driving constraints are analyzed in the relative coordinate space using the velocity transformation technique. A systematic method to compose the inverse velocity transformation matrix, which is used to determine the joint reaction forces, is proposed. Two examples are taken to verify the method developed here.

  • In this paper a new technique of inverse fairing problem for ship hull is proposed. Recently Lu solved the inverse fairing problem for automobile's body that was made by one surface element. In this system however hull surface is constructed by Gregory's composite surface interpolation method. So reflection line at boundary position is used as a tool of solving inverse problem in surface fairing. But the results are not good. The new concepts of Normal vector line and Constrained reflection line are introduced as an alternative tool. Energy minimization method for Normal Vector Line curve net and the inverse method for Constrained Reflection Line by using optimization technique are examined And the final lines from this proposed surface fairing method shows good fairness.

  • The temperature distribution in double-concentric diffusion flames have been investigated experimentally by rapid insertion technique. Using a fine thermocouple and rapid insertion mechanism, the temperature has been measured before soot particles attach the thermocouple junction which can affect the temperature signal by changing the radiation heat loss. For double-concentric diffusion flames, the temperature at the axis is higher than that of normal coflow diffusion flames because of the inverse diffusion flame at the center of the flame. However, it is almost same at the periphery on which the inverse flame does not have an effect.

  • An ultrasonic self-calibrating technique for the characterization of a ceramic which was fabricated by change pressing time during the HIP process has been applied by using the ratio of the reflection and transmission coefficients of normal incidence longitudinal waves. The ratio is self-compensated, in that it is independent of the characteristics for transmission and reception of ultrasound by the transducer and the condition of the couplant. The insensitive direction in parameter space is defined as the direction in which the variation of the ratio to changes of two parameters vanishes. For inverse problem the distribution of minima in an error surface is investigated.

  • The objective of this work is to estimate the temperature dependent thermal properties of the APC-2 composite using a inverse parameter estimation technique. The present inverse method features the estimation of the thermal conductivity and the volumetric heat capacity, which are dependent on the temperature inside the composite. Furthermore, the thermal conductivity is directionally dependent because of the aniosotropy of the composite. An on-line temperature measurement system with a suitable method of heating is built. A composite slab is fabricated using thermoplastic prepreg for the investigation. The corresponding computer code for evaluating the thermal properties inversely using the temperature reading transmitted from the measurement system is developed. The parameterized form is used for the rapid and stable estimation. The modified Newtons method is adopted for the solution technique of the inverse analysis. The estimated results are compared with the measured data from a previous study for the verification.

  • Inverse problem is very interest in the sciences and engineering, in particular for modeling and monitoring applications. By applying inverse problem, it can be widely used to exploration of mineral resources, identification of underground cables and buried pipelines, and diagnostic imaging in medical area. In this paper, we firstly consider 2-dimensional EM scattering problem and present the FDTD method to estimate unknown source. In this case, non-linear CGM technique is used to investigate unknown sources corresponding to measured data obtained from forward problem in near field. The proposed technique for solving the inverse source problem presents a reasonable agreement and can be applied to investigate an internal source signal of embedded security module.

  • The effects of high frequency noises on a perturbational inversion technique for a stratified dispersive medium are investigated in this paper. It is shown that the perturbational solution becomes unstable under high frequency noises. The physical origin of this instability is described. In order to enhance the robustness of the perturbational inverse scattering solution, a parametric inversion technique is introduced. The examples for the 2-pole and the 3-pole reflection coefficients are compared and contrasted, and improvement of the robustness of the solutions is shown.
