  • This paper proposed an algorithm that detects boundary nodes effectively in wireless sensor network. A boundary node is a sensor that lies on the border of network holes or the outer boundary of wireless sensor network. Proposed algorithm detects boundary nodes using only the position information of sensors. In addition, to improve detect performance, sensor computes the overlap area of nearest sensor first. Simulation is performed to validate the process of the proposed algorithm. In Simulation, several obstacles are placed and varying number of sensors in the range of 500~1500 are deployed in the area in order to reflect real world. The simulation results shows that proposed algorithm detects boundary nodes effectively that are located on the border of holes and the outer boundary of wireless sensor network.

  • In general, turbine blades are usually machined on 5-axis NC machine. The 5-axis machining of sculptured surface offers many advantages over 3-axis machining including the faster material-removal rates and an improved surface finish. But it is difficult and time-consuming to generated interference-free 5-axis tool path. This paper describes research on the algorithm for generation of an interference-free 5-axis NC data for machining turbine blades. The approach, using the section profile derived from the intersection of cutting planes with a triangulated-surface approximation, includes (1) CL-data generation by detecting an interference-free heel angle (2) the calculation method for finding a adaptive feed-rate value, and (3) the inverse kinematics depending on the structure of 5-axis machine.

  • Indoor positioning is highlighted recently, and various kinds of indoor positioning systems are under developments. Since positioning systems have their own characteristics, proper positioning scheme should be chosen according to the required specifications. Positioning methods are classified into time-based and angle-based one. This paper presents the error analysis of time-based and angle-based location methods. Because measurements of these methods are nonlinear, linearizations are needed in both cases to estimate the user position. In the linearization, Gauss-Newton method is used in both cases. To analyze the position error, we investigate the error ellipse parameters that include eccentricity, rotation angle, and the size of ellipse. Simulation results show that the major axes of TOA and AOA method lie in different quadrants at most region of workspace, especially where the geometry is poor. When the TOA/AOA hybrid is employed, it is found that the error ellipse is reduced to the intersection of ellipses of TOA and AOA.

  • Traffic accident at intersections takes 44.3% of total number of accidents on entire road network of Korea in 2014. Although several studies addressed contributory factors of accidents at signalized intersection, very few is known about the factors at rural unsignalized intersections. The objective of this study is therefore to investigate specific characteristics of crashes at rural unsignalized intersection and to identify contributory factors in causing crashes by statistical approach using the Ordered Logistic Regression Model. The results show that main type of car crashes at unsignalized intersection during the daytime is T-bone crashes and the number of crashes at 4-legged intersections are 1.53 times more than that at 3-legged intersections. Most collisions are caused by negligence of drivers and violation of Right of Way. Based upon the analysis, accident severity is modeled as classified by two types such as 3-legged intersection and 4-legged intersection. It shows that contributory factors in causing crashes at rural unsignalized intersections are poor sight distance problem, average daily traffic, time of day(night, or day), angle of intersection, ratio of heavy vehicles, number of traffic violations at intersection, and number of lanes on minor street.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of panoramic imaging in measuring the right and left gonial angles by comparing the measured angles with the angles determined using a lateral cephalogram of adult patients with class I malocclusion. Materials and Methods: The gonial angles of 50 class I malocclusion patients (25 males and 25 females; mean age: 23 years) were measured using both a lateral cephalogram and a panoramic radiograph. In the lateral cephalograms, the gonial angle was measured at the point of intersection of the ramus plane and the mandibular plane. In the panoramic radiographs, the gonial angle was measured by drawing a line tangent to the lower border of the mandible and another line tangent to the distal border of the ascending ramus and the condyle on both sides. The data obtained from both radiographs were statistically compared. Results: No statistically significant difference was observed between the gonial angle measured using the lateral cephalograms and that determined using the panoramic radiographs. Further, there was no statistically significant difference in the measured gonial angle with respect to gender. The results also showed a statistically insignificant difference in the mean of the right and the left gonial angles measured using the panoramic radiographs. Conclusion: As the gonial angle measurements using panoramic radiographs and lateral cephalograms showed no statistically significant difference, panoramic radiography can be considered in orthodontics for measuring the gonial angle without any interference due to superimposed images.

  • This paper suggested the model which could calculation propagation path. It was calculation in reflection spot which was done last in line of sight according to the change of angle of incidence. And road widths and intersection angles were to be changed to consider various types of urban area. As a result, propagation path increased when angles of an intersection changed to 15$^{\circ}$~75$^{\circ}$ and attenuated to roughly 1[dB]~2[dB] than existed model.

  • Even though accident frequencies in roadway segments have been decreasing since 2000, there has been increasing the number of vehicle crashes at intersections. Due to this increase, safety problems at intersection recently started to be regarded as significant issues. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of road conditions, traffic operational conditions, and other influencing condition on intersection safety. Then a traffic accident frequency prediction model to evaluate the safety at intersections was developed based on the correlations between influencing factors and vehicle crashes. In this research, critically significant factors affecting vehicle crashes at rural four-legs signalized intersections were investigated. It was found that Poisson regression was the best fit method to developing a accident frequency modeling using the collected data in this study. Through this study, it was concluded that exclusive left turn lane, crosswalk, posted speed, lighting, angle, and ADT are significant influencing factors on the intersection safety.

  • This study deals with the traffic accident according to the improvement projects of frequent accident locations. The objective is to analyze the impact of improvements on the accident reduction. In pursuing the above, the study gives the particular attentions to developing the models based on the data of 70 intersections improved. The main results analyzed are as follows. First, 4 multiple linear regression accident models(total, side right-angle, rear end and side stripe accident) which were statistically significant were developed. Second, total accidents reduction by sight-distance and turning traffic flow improvements, side right-angle by sight-distance, over-speed and lane operation, rear end by turning traffic flow, signal and lane operation, and side stripe by traffic impedance improvements were analyzed. Finally, the above 4 models were evaluated to be statically significant through the correlation analysis and pair-sample t-test.

  • This paper focuses on to improving object detection performance using the camera and LiDAR on autonomous vehicle platforms by fusing detected objects from individual sensors through a late fusion approach. In the case of object detection using camera sensor, YOLOv3 model was employed as a one-stage detection process. Furthermore, the distance estimation of the detected objects is based on the formulations of Perspective matrix. On the other hand, the object detection using LiDAR is based on K-means clustering method. The camera and LiDAR calibration was carried out by PnP-Ransac in order to calculate the rotation and translation matrix between two sensors. For Sensor fusion, intersection over union(IoU) on the image plane with respective to the distance and angle on world coordinate were estimated. Additionally, all the three attributes i.e; IoU, distance and angle were fused using logistic regression. The performance evaluation in the sensor fusion scenario has shown an effective 5% improvement in object detection performance compared to the usage of single sensor.
