Evaluation Methodology of System Interruption Cost Taking into Consideration Failure Rate of Distribution Facilities (배전기자재별 고장확률을 고려한 배편계통 수용가 정전비용 산출 기법)

  • It is increased for methodology to evaluate distribution power system interruption cost in power supply zones under competitive electricity market. This paper presents algorithms to evaluate system interruption cost in distribution power supply zones taking into consideration failure rate of distribution facilities and composite customer interruption cost. In this paper, it is introduced for weighting factor for each customer failure duration and failure rate of distribution facilities to evaluate reasonable system interruption cost in distribution power supply area. Also, this Paper estimates evaluation results of system interruption cost using a sample model system. Finally, evaluation results of system interruption cost based on failure rate of distribution facilities and composite customer interruption cost are shown in detail.

  • As the power industry moves towards open competition, there has been a call for methodology to evaluate power system reliability by using composite interruption cost. This paper presents algorithms to evaluate the interruption cost of distribution power systems by taking into consideration the failure source and the composite customer interruption cost. From the consumer's standpoint, the composite customer interruption cost is considered as the most valuable index to estimate the reliability of a power distribution system. This paper presents new algorithms that take into account the load by customer type and failure probability by distribution facilities while calculating the amount of unserved energy by customer type. Finally, evaluation results of unserved energy and system interruption cost based on composite customer interruption cost are shown in detail.

  • As the power industry moves towards open competition, there has been a call for methodology to evaluate power system reliability by using customer interruption costs. This paper presents an evaluation of the interruption costs for public customers in Korea using customer survey methodology. When various research results are examined, the evaluation of direct interruption costs becomes much more simplified. Especially, in the case of public customers, it is known that the evaluation of direct interruption costs is more useful. Accordingly, this paper selected the customer survey method to evaluate the interruption costs for public customers in Korea considering interruption and customer characteristics.

  • This paper presents an evaluation of the interruption costs for commercial customers in Korea using customer survey methodology. When various research results are examined, the evaluation of direct interruption costs becomes much more simplified. Especially, in the case of commercial customers, it is known that the evaluation of direct interruption costs is more useful.   • As the power industry moves towards open competition, there has been a need for methodology to evaluate distribution power system reliability by using customer interruption costs, particularly in power supply zones under the competitive electricity market. This paper presents an algorithm to evaluate system average interruption duration index, expected energy not supplied, and system outage cost taking into consideration failure rate of the distribution facility and industrial customer interruption cost. Also, to apply this algorithm to evaluate system outage cost presented in this paper, the distribution arrangement of a dual supply system consisting of mostly high voltage customers in an industrial complex in Korea is used as a sample case study. Finally, evaluation results of system interruption cost, system average interruption duration index, and expected energy not supplied in the sample industrial complex area are shown in detail.

  • Interruption system with the transformer type superconducting fault current limiter(TSFCL) is proposed in this paper. The interruption system with a TSFCL is a technology that it maximizes the interruption function of a mechanical DC circuit breaker using a transformer and a superconducting fault current limiter. By a TSFCL, the system limits the fault current till the breakable current range in the fault state. Therefore, the fault current could be cut off by a mechanical DC circuit breaker. The Interruption system with a TSFCL were designed using PSCAD/EMTDC. In addition, the Interruption system with a TSFCL was applied to the DC test circuit to analyze characteristics of a current-limiting and a interruption operation. The simulation results showed that the Interruption system with a TSFCL interrupted the fault current in a stable when a fault occurred. Also, The current-limiting rate of the Interruption system with a TSFCL was approximately 69.55%, and the interruption time was less than 8 ms.

  • It is raised for methodology to evaluate power system reliability using interruption cost which is converted customer loss due to interruption into cost according to power industry is rushed into competition appearance. This paper presents algorithms to evaluate reliability of distribution power system taking into consideration customer interruption cost. Customer interruption cost is considered as one of the valuable index to estimate reliability of the distribution power system from customer situation. Also. this paper estimate evaluation results regarding the reliability of distribution power system using a sample model system. Finally, evaluation results of unserved energy and system interruption cost based on customer interruption cost are shown in detail.

  • The structure of a power distribution system will change in a loop configuration such as in the case of a smart grid. If power distribution system changes radial to loop form, the structure may have to be changed significantly. Therefore, we analyzed the reliability indices and calculated a CIC(Customer Interruption Cost) for the loop power distribution system. The power distribution system reliability depends on the protection scheme. This study is applied to the current protection scheme method and is compared with each model. When the CIC was evaluated, most studies performed calculations only for sustained interruptions. However, in actuality, momentary interruption frequencies occurred more than sustain interruptions. Thus, it is occurred the CIC additively. Therefore, we evaluated a CIC including momentary interruption, for each model, and then compared with MAIFI(Momentary Average Interruption Frequency Index)
