Effective interventions to reduce work-related exposures are available for many types of work-related diseases or injuries. However, knowledge of the impact of these interventions on injury or disease outcomes is scarce due to practical and methodological reasons. Study designs are considered for the evaluation of occupational health interventions on occupational disease or injury. Latency and frequency of occurrence of the health outcomes are two important features when designing an evaluation study with occupational disease or occupational injury as an outcome measure. Controlled evaluation studies-giving strong indications for an intervention effect-seem more suitable for more frequently occurring injuries or diseases. Uncontrolled evaluation time or case series studies are an option for evaluating less frequently occurring injuries or diseases. Interrupted time series offer alternatives to experimental randomized controlled trials to give an insight into the effectiveness of preventive actions in the work setting to decision and policy makers.

The rupture of tracheobronchial tree caused by non penetrating blunt trauma is being increased in incidence though it is still rarely occurred on now Because this type of injury is uncommon, a high index of suspicion should be maintained in all crush injuries involving the chest. Early diagnosis and primary repair not only restore normal lung function but also avoid the difficulties and complications associated with delayed diagnosis and repair. We experienced a case of tracheobronchial rupture caused by non penetrating blunt chest trauma without rib fracture. The patient was a 16 year old male who was a high school student. He was compressed on anterior chest by hand ball goal post being failed down on the morning of admission day. After this accident, he was suffered from progressively developing dyspnea and subcutaneous emphysema on face, neck and anterior chest. The diagnosis, tracheal rupture, was made by chest CT and bronchoscopy. After right thoracotomy, the ruptured site was directly closed by using interrupted suture. Post-operative course was uneventful. Thus we report this case of traumatic tracheal rupture with review of literature.

Papilloma of the upper respiratory tract, particularly larynx and vocal cords are relatively common disease. However, solitary papilloma of the bronchus is extremely rare condition and only a handful cases were reported in the literature. The patient is a 39 year old housewife who has been suffering from productive cough and occasional hemoptysis in the past one year. X-ray of the chest showed complete atelectasis of the right upper lobe. Bronchography revealed a hemispherical protruding mass in the right main bronchus with complete occlusion of the upper lobe bronchus. Bronchoscopy showed a whitish friable mass in the lumen of the right main bronchus biopsy of which was reported as benign papilloma. Right upper lobectomy together with wedge resection of the portion of right main bronchus to include the tumor was done. Cut-edges of the bronchus were stitched together with interrupted fine dacron sutures. During this procedure, right main bronchus was gently clamped with non-crushing Satinsky type clamp. Patient has had uneventful recovery from surgery and was discharged without symptom. Patientis doing well three months following the operation.

We experienced plastic reconstruction of tuberculous bronchostenosis with patient`s rib cartilage. He suffered from coughing and sputum for 2months, and was treated for pulmonary tuberculosis 10 years ago. In preoperative bronchoscopy, left main bronchus was fibrotic obstructive and LUL bronchus was severely destructed. After thoracotomy, we harvested the rib cartilage at the 6th rib, and designed semicircular and tubular graft. And then onlayed the graft over the longitudinal bronchotomy site by simple interrupted sutures with 4-0 Vicryl Postoperative course was good, coughing and sputum disappeared. In postoperative bronchoscopy, the patch graft was good in that position, and the internal diameter was sufficient, but the granuloma was found in the stoma of LUL bronchus. He was discharged without any other event.

We have experienced a case of ventricular septal defect due to blunt chest trauma. A 22 year old male patient was admitted due to chest pain after Motor cycle accident on July 1st,1993. On 5th hospital day, sudden onset of dyspnea was noted and auscultation represented newly developed systolic murmur. A cardiac catheterization and Left ventriculogram revealed ruptured septum at the apical portion. Because there was open wound on anterior chest wall and congestive heart failure was medically controlled, the patient was discharged for elective operation. He was readmitted on August 14th, 1993.At operation, ventricular septal defect was found in apico-posterior muscular septal area, about 2.0 x 1.5 cm in size. The defect was repaired by double velour patch with interrupted suture and ventriculotomy was closed with Teflon felt. The patient`s postoperative course was uneventful and discharged 10 days postoperatively without complication. The patient have been followed up~ for 2 months. He is on functional class I with small amount of residual shunt at the ventricular septum.

The static softening mechanisms of 304 stainless steel were studied by hot torsion test. The interrupted deformation tests were performed In the range of 900~$1100^{\circ}C$ and 5.0$\times$$10^{-2}$- 5.0$\times$$10^0$/sec. The metadynamic recrystallization (MDRX) could be distinguished from the static recrystallization (SRX). Comparison of the softening kinetics between MDRX and SRX showed that the rate of MDRX was more rapid than that of SRX for the same deformation variables. To the exact prediction of MDRX, the MDRX parameter, which could be simultaneously estimated by the interpass time and Zener-Hollomon parameter, was developed. The time lot 50% MDRX, $t_{0.5} was modeled using the deformation parameters : $t_{0.5} = 1.33\times10^{-11}$ $\.\varepsilon^{-0.41}$ D exp(230.3kJ/mol/RT) and the predicted value was very correspondent with the measurement. It was found that the static parameters such as interpass time can control the dynamic states in the several successive deformation process.

Pelagic tunicate, Thetys vagina Tilesius, 1802, is newly reported from Korean waters. The genus Thetys Tilesius, 1802 is also first recorded as Korean fauna. Thetys vagina is the only valid species in the genus Thetys. It is distinct from other genera by having at least 16 body muscles widely interrupted, no anterior proboscis, bent alimentary canal in the solitary oozooid, and five narrow body muscles, no ventral peduncle, an almost compact loop alimentary canal in the aggregate blastozooids. The specimens of T. vagina examined in this study were collected at the subtidal zone of Ulleung-do Island by scuba diving. In this paper, the detailed descriptions and photographs of both the solitary and aggregate living forms of T. vagina are provided.

In relation to denaturation of proteins, thermally induced conformational change of poly(D-glutamic acid) was studied in the presence of poly(vinyl alcohol) at low pH, where poly(D-glutamic acid) undergoes a helix-to-${\beta}$ transition without any other polymer. In a dilute solution, poly(vinyl alcohol) enhanced the ${\alpah}-to-{\beta}_1$ transition of poly(D-glutamic acid) due to intermolecular interaction between the two polymers. On the other hand, this conformational change was interrupted to a large extent in a concentrated solution, due to the interpenetration of poly(vinyl alcohol) chain into poly(D-glutamic acid) chain which prevented the intramolecular association of poly(D-glutamic acid) chain. A conformational change from ${\beta}_1\;to\;{\beta}_2$ of poly(D-glutamic acid) was observed for the films obtained by casting during annealing the mixture solutions. The ${\beta}_2$ content in the cast film increased with increasing poly(vinyl alcohol) content in the mixture.

Leuconostoc species are Gram-positive coccobacilli and are used in dairy products and are intrinsically resistant to vancomycin. Leuconostoc infections are rare in humans, usually occurring in immune-compromised patients. We describe 6 patients with Leuconostoc bacteremia at Dong-A university hospital between 1990 and 2015. One isolate (L. lactis) was identified to species level using 16S rRNA gene sequencing analysis. All patients had underlying diseases and 5 patients underwent procedures that interrupted the normal integumentary defense. Four patients died within 30 days after being identified as carrying Leuconostoc species.

Overhead contact systems (OCS) consist of contact and messenger wires, in which the contact wire supplies electric energy to the railway vehicle by contacting a pantograph. However, this mechanical contact is interrupted during frosts or temperatures below $0^{\circ}C$ in the winter. In these conditions, railway vehicle accidents can occur during operation because of the low energy efficiency that results from the increase in the arcing between the contact wire and pantograph. Therefore, the detection of frost or freezing temperatures is necessary to maintain the stable operation of these trains. In this study, we proposed the development of a frost or freezing condition monitoring system on the OCSs that utilizes wireless communication.
