Segmentation of the Internet Stock Trading Market Using Self Organizing Map (SOM을 이용한 인터넷 주식거래시장의 시장세분화 전략수립에 관한 연구)

  • This paper is concerned with proposing a new market strategy for the segmented markets of the Internet stock trading. Many companies are providing various services for customers. However, the internet stock trading market is glowing rapidly absorbing a wide variety of customers showing different tastes and demographic information, so that it is necessary for us to investigate specific strategy for the segmented markets. General strategy so far in the Internet stock trading market has been to lower transaction fee according to the market trend. As the advent of rapidly enlarging market, however, more specific strategies need to be suggested for the segmented markets. In this respect, this paper applied a self-organizing map (SOM) to 83 questionnaire data collected from the Internet stock trading market in Korea, and obtained meaningful results.

  • This paper is concerned with characteristics of Internet retailing and manufacturer's product development strategy using Internet retailing. First, this paper reviews the current status of Internet retailing companies and explains some barriers to taking advantage of Internet retailing. Second, this paper gives a few suggestions for manufacturer's strategy for product innovation and development which is based on Internet retailing. The suggestions are (1) Product Innovation (2) Target Costing (3) Eliminate Design Mistakes.

  • This research studied E-Biz strategy based on the types of internet shopping-mall and user group. This study classified types of internet user into suffer group, searcher group, and confusion group according to navigation characteristics. The types of internet shopping-mall were divided into total directed mall, total mediated mall, special directed mall, and special mediated mall. The empirical study revealed that the intention of purchase has positive relationship with the assurance of e-SERVQUAL. Mediated type shopping-mall had higher market share than directed type in the use of internet shopping-mall. Suffer group was the target market of total mediated shopping-mall. Users of this group considered importantly the trust of e-SERVQUAL. Searcher group targeted special mediated shopping-mall. They had significant consideration to the responsiveness of e-SERVQUAL. Confusion group targeted direct shopping-mall. These groups had important consideration to the assurance of e-SERVQUAL.

Value of Number Portability on Internet Phones

  • Even though Internet phone service (IPS) continues to evolve in terms of quality and competitive pricing compared with the public switched telephone network (PSTN), the number of Internet phone subscribers is still low in South Korea. The Korean government decided to apply number portability to the IPS market in 2008. This study expresses its value in monetary terms with a contingent valuation approach. With this methodology, this study investigates the willingness of 316 current PSTN subscribers to pay for IPS, using a specific survey method called double-bounded dichotomous choices, to obtain more accurate data. The results show that the calculated value of Internet phone number portability positively impacts consumer welfare.

  • Internet-based distributed computing environment have been developed for advanced science and engineering by sharing large-scale resources. Therefore efficient scheduling algorithms for allocating user job to resources in the Internet-based distributed computing environment are required. Many scheduling algorithms have been proposed. but these algorithms are not suitable for the Internet-based Distributed computing environment. That is the previous scheduling algorithm does not consider peer self-control. In this paper, we propose a Peer Availability Period Prediction Strategy for Internet-based distributed computing environment and show that our Strategy has better performance than other Strategy through extensive simulation.

Customer-Oriented Marketing of Internet Business : Applicaion to Online Fashion Business

  • Recently Korean firms are increasingly interested in Internet business while the number of Internet users reaches more than 10 million in Korea. As e-commerce develops rapidly, customer-oriented marketing for online business becomes very important. The issue of how to achieve customer satisfaction in Internet business and how to plan a marketing strategy for online business faced managers of Internet business. Customer-satisfaction is much more important for Internet businesses than for traditional offline 'brick and mortars'. Marketing activities need to be carried out on customer-orientation to achieve high level of customer satisfaction. This paper will discuss how to develop customer-oriented marketing for online business. It will specifically study the characteristics and success factors of Internet business, differences between online marketing and traditional marketing, selection of target market, and online marketing-mix strategy for e-business in view of customer-orientation. Finally it will suggest a future direction for online fashion business by applying the customer-oriented marketing of Internet business to the fashion business.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a successful strategy that can satisfy customer needs effectively based on the recognition of cognitive gaps toward the Internet shopping mall between managers and customers. Internet shopping mall becomes a main cyber space for future shopping, Despite some pessimistic view on the future of cyber shopping, the amount of purchase in Internet shopping has increased continuously and dramatically. In order to compare and analyze the cognitive difference between managers and customers, this study investigates the view of managers as Internet shopping mall operators as well as that of customers. Questionnaires and brief interviews were carried out to collect empirical data. Empirical results find the significant cognitive gap in the perception of importance of factors affecting shopping malls between managers and customers. After analysing the empirical data with statistical methods, this study finds that six of nine factors show significantly different views in perception of Internet shopping mall between managers and customers. The findings of this study can be employed to implement an Internet shopping mall strategy to better serve customer needs and requirements to gain competitive advantage in this emerging market with growing competition.

Complexity based Sensing Strategy for Spectrum Sensing in Cognitive Radio Networks

  • Spectrum sensing has attracted much attention due to its significant contribution to idle spectrum detection in Cognitive Radio Networks. However, specialized discussion is on complexity-based sensing strategy for spectrum sensing seldom considered. Motivated by this, this paper is devoted to complexity-based sensing strategy for spectrum sensing. Firstly, three efficiency functions are defined to estimate sensing efficiency of a spectrum scheme. Then a novel sensing strategy is proposed given sensing performance and computational complexity. After that, the proposed sensing strategy is extended to energy detector, Cyclostationary feature detector, covariance matrix detector and cooperative spectrum detector. The proposed sensing strategy provides a novel insight into sensing performance estimation for its consideration of both sensing capacity and sensing complexity. Simulations analyze three efficiency functions and optimal sensing strategy of energy detector, Cyclostationary feature detector and covariance matrix detector.

  • The purpose of the study is to analyze environmental changes in market, customer and information technology of Internet fashion industry, to present fashion company's current situation and strategy for confronting business environmental changes, and to propose the direction of the future research in this fashion field. First, the importance of Internet has been increased due to the rapid growth in number of Internet user and the size of the e-commerce. Second, to satisfy the customers requiring reasonable price and differentiated product and service, e-Branding strategy implementation, customized service development and enhancement on Web-site credibility and loyalty are demanding in the market. Third, development on the mobile technology and the increase in the Internet user using mobile communication device requires preparing mobile consuming environment, new business platform. Fashion industry's current situation and competitive strategy developed by the environmental change analysis were used for developing future research direction, that is, the m-business, CRM, and e-Branding. Through the understanding of environmental changes in Internet fashion industry and proposed research direction, research on Internet fashion marketing is hoped to be vitalized. Results of this study were expected to be utilized the strategy development.
