GIS를 이용한 로스엔젤레스에 매설된 강관 손상 평가 (Loss Estimation of Steel Pipeline Damage in Los Angeles Using GIS)

  • 강관은 Northridge 지진이 발생했을 당시 산사태가 일어나는 언덕이나 산악지역에 매설되어 있었다. 본 논문은 지리정보체계(GIS) 시스템에서 위치에 따라 강관을 서로 다른 유형별로 분류하고 정의하였다. 이 논문은 지반속도와 강관의 손상관계를 분석하고 Northridge 지진 시 발생한 산사태의 영향을 받았던 지역을 조사하였다. 하나의 주목할 만한 사실은 Northridge 지진 후 강관의 손상률이 다른 종류의 매설관, 특히 캐스트아이런(CI)보다 더 높았다는 것이다. Northridge 지진으로 인한 상대적으로 높은 강관의 손상률은 가장 큰 내부압력을 요하는 곳에서의 설치관례와 부식으로 인한 영향으로 해석될 수 있다.

  • 본 연구에서는 기존의 가스발생기 사이클 액체로켓 엔진 모드해석 프로그램(GEMAT)을 개선하여 엔진 구성품이 가지는 성능 분산으로 인한 시스템 수준에서의 성능 분산을 계산 하는 프로그램을 개발하였다. 본 프로그램을 이용하여 엔진 내부 인자의 성능 분산을 보정하기 위해 필요한 각 배관에서의 보정용 여유차압을 산정하는 방법을 제시하였다. 또한 이를 활용하여 기존의 엔진 보정 방법을 보완하여 보정용 차압을 최적화하고 이를 통해 펌프 토출압을 감소시키거나 연소실의 연소압을 높임으로써 전체 엔진의 비추력 향상을 꾀할 수 있는 보정 방법을 제시하였다.

  • Diamond-like carbon(DLC) thin films are produced by using a filtered cathodic vacuum arc(FCVA) deposition system. Different magnetic components, namely steering, focusing, and filtering plasma-optic systems, are used to achieve a stable arc plasma and to prevent the macroparticles from incorporating into the deposited films. Effects of magnetic fields on plasma behavior and film deposition are examined. The carbon ion energy is found to be varied by applying a negative (accelerating) substrate bias voltage. The deposition rate of DLC films is dependent upon magnetic field as well as substrate bias voltage and at a nominal deposition condition is about $2{\AA}/s$. The structural properties of DLC films, such as internal stress, relative fraction of tetrahedral($sp^3$) bonds, and surface roughness have also been characterized as a function of substrate bias voltages and partial gas($N_2$) pressures.

The Determinants of Environmental Information Disclosure in Vietnam Listed Companies

  • Environmental pollution and climate change in Vietnam are now becoming a major concern. This situation is increasing the pressure on the companies to improve their social responsibility in production and business activities and disclose the environmental information to meet the requirements of stakeholders. This study investigates the internal and external factors of the company that affects the environmental information disclosure of listed companies on the Vietnam stock market as business sector, firm size, corporate manager perceptions, profitability, financial leverage, community pressure, pressures from stakeholders, government pressure influencing environmental information disclosure. Analytical data collected through the survey of 120 listed companies on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HOSE). By testing Cronbach's Alpha, exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and logistic regression analysis, the results of the study show that the level of environmental information disclosure of listed companies on the stock market in Vietnam depends heavily on government regulations, followed by the pressure from stakeholders, community pressure, views of business managers, companies size, business sector, and particularly profitability and financial leverage factors that have a negative relationship with environmental information disclosure.

증기응축용 직접접촉식 열교환기의 냉각수 유량과 내부압 변화에 따른 열전달 특성연구(LNG 기화기와의 조합목적) (A Study on a Heat Transfer Characteristics of Direct Contact Heat Exchanger for Steam Condensation According to Various Cooling Water Flow and Internal Pressure(The Purpose of Combination with LNG Evaporator))

  • Heat transfer characteristics of a direct contact heat exchanger utilizing sieve trays and spray nozzles for steam condensation for the purpose of combining with a LNG evaporator have been investigated with various cooling water flow rates and different vacuum pressures within the heat exchanger for the purpose of steam condensation. Temperature profiles and the volumetric overall heat transfer coefficients in a direct contact heat exchanger have been obtained for comparisons. The results show that the temperature differences between cooling water and steam along the direct contact heat exchanger height are rapidly decreasing and the volumetric overall heat transfer coefficients of the exchanger improves greatly as the inside vacuum pressure increases. The values of the overall heat transfer coefficients at P=-680mmHg have been increased significantly compared with at atmospheric pressure. At given pressure conditions, it is found that the values of average volumetric overall heat transfer coefficients for the sieve tray are found to be approximately 10% higher than those of the spray nozzle.

Vulnerability model of an Australian high-set house subjected to cyclonic wind loading

  • This paper assesses the damage to high-set rectangular-plan houses with low-pitch gable roofs (built in the 1960 and 70s in the northern parts of Australia) to wind speeds experienced in tropical cyclones. The study estimates the likely failure mode and percentage of failure for a representative proportion of houses with increasing wind speed. Structural reliability concepts are used to determine the levels of damage. The wind load and the component connection strengths are treated as random variables with log-normal distributions. These variables are derived from experiments, structural analysis, damage investigations and experience. This study also incorporates progressive failures and considers the inter-dependency between the structural components in the house, when estimating the types and percentages of the overall failures in the population of these houses. The progressively increasing percentage of houses being subjected to high internal pressures resulting from damage to the envelope is considered. Results from this study also compare favourably with levels of damage and related modes of failure for high-set houses observed in post-cyclone damage surveys.

뒷굽이 있는 케이슨 안벽에 작용하는 토압에 대한 연구 (Study on Earth Pressure Acting Against Caisson Structure with the Heel)

  • 본 연구에서는 케이슨 안벽의 뒷굽이 주동토압에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 한계해석법을 사용하여 뒷굽의 길이에 따라 벽면마찰력이 뒷굽 상부에서 발생하는 활동면의 경사각에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 분석결과 뒷굽의 길이가 짧을수록 내측 활동면의 경사각은 증가하나, 외측 활동면의 경사각은 일정하였다. 실제 케이슨 안벽에서 발생하는 파괴면에 작용하는 토압과 동일한 토압을 갖는 뒷굽 끝에서의 가상의 연직배면에 작용하는 토압에 대하여 뒷굽의 상대 길이-뒤채움 토사의 내부마찰각-벽면마찰각-가상의 연직배면에 작용하는 배면마찰각 등의 상관관계를 구하였다. 뒷굽이 짧을수록 케이슨 안벽에 작용하는 토압이 Rankine 토압보다는 작아지나 뒷굽의 길이를 고려하지 않은 Coulomb 토압보다는 항상 크게 나타났다.

Application of steel-concrete composite pile foundation system as energy storage medium

  • Feasibility studies of a reinforced concrete (RC) deep pile foundation system with the compressed air energy storage (CAES) technology were conducted in previous studies. However, those studies showed some technical limitations in its serviceability and durability performances. To overcome such drawbacks of the conventional RC energy pile system, various steel-concrete composite pile foundations are addressed in this study to be utilized as a dual functional system for an energy storage medium and load-resistant foundation. This study conducts finite element analyses to examine the applicability of various composite energy pile foundation systems considering the combined effects of structural loading, soil boundary forces, and internal air pressures induced by the thermos-dynamic cycle of compressed air. On this basis, it was clearly confirmed that the role of inner and outer tubes is essential in terms of reliable storage tank and better constructability of pile, respectively, and the steel tubes in the composite pile foundation can also ensure improved serviceability and durability performances compared to the conventional RC pile system.

The contact problem of the functionally graded layer resting on rigid foundation pressed via rigid punch

  • The solution of contact problems is extremely important as we encounter many situations involving such problems in our daily lives. One of the most important parameters effective in solving contact problems is the materials of the parts in contact. While it is relatively easy to solve the contact mechanics of the systems created with traditional materials with a homogeneous microstructure and mechanical distribution, it may be more difficult to solve the contact problem of new generation materials that do not show a homogeneous distribution. As a result of this situation, it is seen that studies on contact problems of materials that do not exhibit such a homogeneous internal structure and mechanical properties are extremely limited in the literature. In this context, in this study, analytical and numerical analyzes of a contact problem created using functionally graded materials were carried out and the results were evaluated mutually. It has been decided that the contact areas and contact pressures acquired from numerical method are reasonably appropriate with the results obtained from the analytical method.

압력조절환기법과 용적조절환기법의 호흡역학 몇 가스교환의 비교 (Comparison of Respiratory Mechanics and Gas Exchange Between Pressure-controlled and Volume-controlled Ventilation)

  • 연구배경 : Pressure-controlled ventilation(PCV)은 최근 호흡부전 환자에게서 자주 사용되는 환기방식이다. 이론적으로 PCV은 초기에 높은 기류를 제공하므로 volume-controlled ventilation(VCV)에 비해 최고흡기압이 낮고 가스교환에 이점이 있을 것으로 사료된다. 그러나 PCV에서 최고흡기압이 낮은 것에 대해서는 대부분의 보고가 일치하고 있으나 가스교환에 대해서는 상반된 결과를 보고하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 호흡부전 환자에서 PCV과 VCV간의 호흡역학과 가스교환의 비교 및 I : E ratio의 변동에 따른 차이가 있는지를 알아보고자 본 연구를 시행하였다. 방 법 : 호흡부전으로 기계호흡을 받고 있는 9명의 환자를 대상으로 하였다. 각 대상환자에서 흡기산소농도, 일회호흡용적, 호흡수 및 호기말양압은 변화시키지 않고, PCV와 VCV을 번갈아 적용하고 I : E ratio를 1 : 2, 1 : 1.3 및 1.7 : 1로 변화시키면서 기도압과 동맥혈 가스분석, 호기 이산화탄소 농도를 측정하여 PCV과 VCV 간의 호흡역학과 가스교환을 비교하였다. 결 과 : PCV과 VCV 모두에서 I : E ratio를 증가시킴에 따라 평균기도압이 증가하였고, $PaCO_2$와 생리적 사강이 감소하였다. 그러나 P(A-a)$O_2$는 변하지 않았다. 각각의 I : E ratio 모두에서 최고흡기압은 PCV시 더 낮았으며, 평균기도압은 PCV에서 더 높았다. 그러나 $PaCO_2$, 생리적 사강 및 P(A-a)$O_2$는 PCV과 VCV간의 차이를 보이지 않았다. 결 론 : 동일한 일회호흡용적, 호흡수 및 I : E ratio 상태에서는 두 환기 양식의 차이에 따른 가스교환의 차이가 없었다.
