Modern interior design is expanding diversely, with the rapid development of technology and change of era. The basic of interior space that is rapidly changing consists of floor, wall and ceiling, and these are formed by materials, materials for structure or finishing materials. In the modern interior space, materials are utilized to present an atmosphere that meets the trend of the dissolution of post-modernism and the trend of minimalism. Accordingly, in this study, designers who take serious view on the relation of space and material, and the relation focusing on completed works, in modern interior design were investigated. The interrelation of the representation of each material, organic space, minimal space, and the space of Oriental fusion style were investigated through the works of modern interior designers, such as Karim Rashid and Ettore Sottsass.

The high-rise and high-density apartment complexes are built on a large scale and occupy a large portion of the city. The facade of the apartment has a great influence on the cityscape. In particular, the lower part of apartment design gives people to important impressions. For the harmonious landscape of the city, the color plan emphasizes its importance as an influential visual design element that forms the urban landscape. In specialized apartment design, especially finishing material on lower-parts of apartment which is recognized by pedestrian is more important planning factor. Also, finishing material which is one of the primary design elements is important for making the entire image about the building with color. Nowadays stone is mostly used for specialized design on lower-level in apartments. Stone makes luxurious image and harmonious landscape as a nature material. But when planning for design, only general stone graphic or pictures is used without specific plan, after construction, there is a big difference between a plan and the actual color and image. Thus based on exact understanding of stone, I analyzed current state of expression for stone which is used for lower-parts of apartments in Daegu. By this, the purpose of this study is to present detailed data to offer the basis for planning specialized design of lower-parts of apartment.

In modern days when architectural materials have grave impacts on overall design expression, materials for architecture, modern architecture into the service facility for business, education, religion, cultural assembly and residence, and evaluates each finishing material mainly used in exterior, lobbies and entrances of the building since the 1970's. When being applied social images into firstly selected materials, the scopes for material selection will be more narrowed down in more practical way. High tensity materials are suitable for public and active space and low tensity are for private and static area. This principle enables us to use architectural materials as one of the important elements which express the whole characteristics of the area.

The aim of this study is to analyze the tendency of the interior materials used for the apartment units of Mixed-use Apartment. One hundred fourteen cases of 15Mixed-use Apartment which were completed or under construction in Seoul and Bundang area before and after the year 2000 were the examples of this research. For the purpose of this research, following contents were analyzed accordingly. 1. The units were devided into entrance, living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom; and finishing material of the floor, wall and ceiling of each individual space were analyzed. 2. The units was categorized into three floor spaces(py) such as 30-49py, 50-70py, 80py and above. And each interior material of different floor spaces(py) were analyzed.

In this research, IAQ is measured to evaluate the emission performance of VOCs in three new apartment houses finished by totally EFMs (Environmental Friendly Material), partially installed EFMs and general materials. Among various VOCs, Target pollutants for the IAQ measurement are benzene, ethylbenzene, toluene, xylene, 1,4-Dichlorobenzene and formaldehyde. The measurement is conducted one day after each interior finishing material is worked over by construction schedule. The result of this research concluded that (1) Except toluene, the concentration levels of each pollutant did not exceed the national IAQ standards in all test residences, (2) As the interior finishing work schedule, A toluene level peaked when the furniture installing was ended. (3) The toluene concentration level of the house installed general interior materials as the non-EFMs furniture was one and half higher than other houses. Consequently, installing. the furniture made by EFMs is one of effective methods to improve the IAQ for new apartment houses.

The purpose of this study was to examine the current interior conditions of internal medicines and the patients'responses to them. Data were collected through questionnaire survey including observations and interviews. The sample consisted of 43 internal medicines in Busan. The data were analyzed by using SPSS-PC. The major findings were as follows: (1) Most of the medicines had a size of 20-50 pyung(66-165$m^2$). The preferred size of internal medicine was 30-70 Pyung. (2) The typical layout of reception room, doctor's room, and injection room was L shape. (3) The most preferred room was waiting room and the worst one was injection room. (4) Painting and tile were mostly used as interior finishing materials. The patients preferred wall papers as wall and ceiling material, and marbles as floor material. Also, the most preferred interior images were modern, western, urban, open, simple, warm and popular images.

The purpose of this study was to identify the searching method and application of intoner design trend of interior designer. The questionnaire survey were used. The subjects of questionnaire survey were 50 interior designers in 6 interior design firms. Frequency, percentage, and cross-tab were used for data analysis. The major results were as follows. 1) Interior designers thought that consumers visiting at apartment model house were concerned about interior design trend and aware of interior design reflected trend. So interior designer gave expression to interior design trend. And they needed information about interior design trend and consumer's interior design preference. 2) Interior designers found interior design trend or consumer's preference from some exhibition or fair, journal, and internet materials. 3) Interior design trend was mainly expressed in living room design. And Interior designers utilized finishing material and color in expression of interior design trend.

In Contemporary architecture we could find rough and stiff feeling expression as a special phenomena. This style is combined regionalism to the modern spirit that we could imagine such a phenomena of the modern design toward vernacular culture. it's conception is conformed to the regionalist architecture in that period and the 3rd world experiences, From 1930s resident house Le corbusier introduced vernacular phenomena that considered productional condition of the region and regional environment This tendancy attempted by few young architects. they built building in vernacular phenomena based on the 3rd world experiences and Le Corbusier's architecture. After Le Corbusier's unite d'hbitation in Marseille Ando finishing with diversified material. but Le Corbusier's intention concerned not only to finishing of material but also to practical and human building as he had experienced in vernacular architecture.

The compressed injection yellow ocher soil is the process-technology by drying the product through sunshine, not by firing like pottery and ceramic ware. It is the technology of development being able to achieve the far infrared ray and humidity adjustment by adding recycling paper, Korean paper and bamboo salt, and it corresponds with the construction enforcement ordinance 2007 as an interior-finishing product which is fire-resistant. In case that the yellow ocher soil would be used as lighting device and interior-finishing material and decoration, it could contribute to an improvement of National Health by avoiding the sick house syndrome and adding humidity adjustment, and it has more efficient economic effect due to using recycle-available additives. Through such developments of the yellow ocher soil products the domestic market of lighting device and construction material can be advanced and the replacement effect of imported goods & also export effect can be expected accordingly.

The purpose of this study is to use as the basic data for design method in commercial space. So, we analyzed whether any emotion was induced by finishing materials in the commercial space. And we was to suggest expression methods of finish materials to induce in the emotional space. The results of this study are as follows : First, we could know that the emotional design is needed to enhance satisfaction of consumers. The role of finishing material is very important in emotional expression in the commercial space. Second, we extracted the adjectives vocabulary(14 pairs) to evaluate the space emotion. we could educe the four kinds of space emotion by Factor Analysis. In addition, we could arrange the emotional words to represent each space type(Decoration : 5 pairs, Expand : 4 pairs, Limitation : 3 pairs, Hierarchy : 2 pairs). Third, to use finishing materials and wall is very effective to induce the emotion in the emotional space. To use the color is good among the elements of finishing materials. Fourth, We could find that the center of the types of emotional space was induced with the boundary and the decoration. If we use contrasting colors and accent colors in the commercial space, we can induce the center and the boundary together. And if we use colorful or unusual patterns, we can induce the center and the decoration together. Fifth, To induce the expand, we should finish with one color in space. And To induce the center, we should finish with one type of the color or pattern and then we should partially use the contrast color and special pattern. the case of boundary, it is good method to part emphasize by color, texture and materials. And we can induce the decoration with materials and patterns.
