The design of new navigation signals is a key factor in building new satellite navigation systems and/or modernizing existing legacy systems. Navigation signal design involves selecting candidate groups and evaluating and analyzing their signal performances. This process can be easily performed through software simulation especially at the beginning of the development phase. The analytical signal performance analysis software introduced in this study is implemented based on equations between the signal design parameters of Radio Navigation Satellite Service (RNSS) and the navigation signal figures-of-merit (FoMs). Therefore, this study briefly summarizes the RNSS signal design parameters and FoMs before introducing the developed software. After that, we explain the operating sequence of the implemented software including the Graphical User Interface (GUI), and calculate the FoMs of an example scenario to verify the feasibility of the software operations.
The purpose of this paper is to develop the Plastic Cortex Stimulator(PCS) for stroke patients using ZigBee technology. The PCS consists of an implantable neuro-stimulator and a user controller, The neuro-stimulator has the stimulus circuit which is the H-bridge circuit to generate a bipolar pulse. The bipolar pulse is known to be effective for stroke recovery. The user controller sends several wave-shape parameters (amplitude, pulse width, cycle, etc.) to the neuro-stimulator for variable stimulation using ZigBee technology. The CC2420 and atmega128L was used to implement ZigBee protocol stack. The wireless control of PCS based on ZigBee can help the tele-rehabilitation of the stroke patients. The most effective pulse shape parameters are being investigated through animal experiments. The bio-compatibility and user-friendly interface are supposed to be handled in further study.
We implement a system for 3D structure reconstruction from multiple 2D images. It uses geometric primitives such as box, wedge, pyramid, etc, each having translation, rotation, and scale parameters. Primitives are marked on input images with GUI (Graphic User Interface). Lines made by projection of primitives onto an image correspond to marked line segments of the image. Error function is defined by disparity between them and is minimized by downhill simplex method. By assigning relationship between models, the number of parameters to solve can be decreased and the resultant models become more accurate To share variables among other models also reduces computational complexity. Experiments using real images have shown that the proposed method successfully reconstructs 3D structure.
Substantial experimental and theoretical work exists on the bond characteristics of FRP-concrete adhesive joints. Analytic solutions based on fracture mechanics are most commonly accepted for theoretical work on joint. The solutions may be derived for the simple form of the shear strees-slip curve. And it is difficult to determine the model parameters consisting the curve. In this study, the bilinear curve with softening branch is introduced. The model parameters are determined by the method described by the companion paper with comparison of test results. There are many uncertainties in the test results of CFRP sheet adhesive joints, so that test results used for the construction of the regression problem should be reasonably selected.
The problem of phase change from liquid to solid in the inviscid plane-stagnation flow is theoretically investigated. The solution at the initial stage of freezing is obtained by expanding it in powers of time, and the final equilibrium state is determined from the steady-state governing equations. The transient solution is dependent on the three dimensionless parameters, but the equilibrium state is determined by one parameter of (temperature ratio/conductivity ratio). The effect of the fluid flow on the growth rate of the solid in the pure conduction problem can be clearly seen from the solution of the initial stage and the final equilibrium state. The characteristics of the transient heat transfer at the surface of the solid and the liquid side of the solid-liquid interface for all the dimensionless parameters are elucidated.
A knowledge-based system with CAD is widely used to implement a designer's know-how and a routine calculation within a system. An engineer needs to change several design parameters in an early design stage. However it is not easy to change the design parameters when it needs to update an existing model and data. In this paper, a module has been proposed to make it easy to change the design parameter so that the engineer can easily update and change the design model. Also a flexible interface of the module can easily add or extract the design knowledge.
This paper presents a method of calculating the stress intensity factor (K) and crack propagation direction (${\theta}_0$) at the crack-tip that is associated with delamination in the large scale integration(LSI) package. To establish a reasonable strength evaluation method and life prediction, it is necessary to assess fracture parameters under various fracture conditions. Therefore, we conducted quantitative stress singularity analysis considering thermal stress simulating the changes of crack length (a), (h) and (v) in delamination using the 2-dimensional elastic boundary element method (BEM), and from these results predicted crack propagation direction and path.
There is problem to reduce the car body weight for improving fuel consumption and $CO_2$ generation. As one of the solution, the multi material car body concept using aluminum alloys and high strength steels is proposed recently. Therefore, new welding processes by which these dissimilar material can be joined in high reliability and productivity are demanded. Laser spot welding was developed for joining of dissimilar metals. In the present work, Laser spot welding of zinc coated steel and aluminum alloy was investigated, and the process parameters were studied. Otherwise, the influences of process parameters on the weldability, the formation of intermetallic compound layer and the mechanical properties have been investigated. When intermetallic compound layer thickness was more than 1mm, specimen was failure in the interface.
Emotion recognition is an important technology in the filed of human-machine interface. To apply speech technology to emotion recognition, this study aims to establish a relationship between emotional groups and their corresponding voice characteristics by investigating various speech features. The speech features related to speech source and vocal tract filter are included. Experimental results show that statistically significant speech parameters for classifying the emotional groups are mainly related to speech sources such as jitter, shimmer, F0 (F0_min, F0_max, F0_mean, F0_std), harmonic parameters (H1, H2, HNR05, HNR15, HNR25, HNR35), and SPI.
This paper presents the plastic inhomogeneous deformation behavior of bimetal composite rods during the axisymmetric and steady-state extrusion process through a conical die. The rigid-plastic FE model considering frictional contact problem was used to analyze the co-extrusion process with material combinations of Cu/Al. Different cases of initial geometry shape for composite material were simulated under different conditions of co-extrusion process, which includes the interference and frictional conditions. From the simulation results, the sleeve cladding rate at the core/sleeve interface was recorded as a distribution of diameter ratio and interference conditions, which will be useful for the investigations of the bonding process during co-extrusion process. In addition, the results of the co-extrusion, connected with the results of the variations of diameter rate and average contact pressure, demonstrate a good agreement and present the possibility of describing the parameters of the plastic zones in non-uniform deformation of these type of composite materials.
