An Experimental Study of the Flow Characteristics around 2D Multi-Cylinders ( I ) (2차원 다원주 주위의 유동 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 ( I ))

  • Flow patterns are very complex and interactive between cylinders. The patterns are turbulent and non-linear caused by various factors. In this paper, flow patterns and pressure gradient around vertical cylinders were investigated by experiment. Changing gaps between cylinders the flow patterns are measured at a fixed coming velocity. Flow patterns showed very complex and closely related to the coming velocity and cylinder space. The pressure gradient around the flow field is observed by twelve hole pitot tubes and manometer. The experiment has been conducted in circulating water channel with PIV system. That can visualize flow patterns. The laser beam was used to reflect the image from particles and recorded by CCD camera. The cylinders were spaced from ID to 5D with 0.5m/sec of incoming flow velocity. The experimental results using pitot tube showed in good agreement with results of precious by others study. The results can be applied in the understanding and design of multiple pile array structures.

  • In this paper, I will propose a Custom-made Suit Production System. The system does not only help the customers to edit and measure their size by creating the landmarks in the 2D human body images which is taken from the camera, but it also visualizes the virtual cloth by using the landmarks and the modeling data of the virtual cloth. In this system is a new technology for the digital and the automation which is not handmade way of using Custom-made Suit industry. It will be generally useful in the various contents of the clothing industry.

  • The authors argue that the current Government Information System for asthmatics appears to be non-user friendly due to lack of the cartographic representation for the text based statistical data. Acknowledging these constraints, an operational, user-friendly map for asthmatic prevalence has been generated by combining existing statistical data with the administrative Dong boundary map under GIS environment. The Geographical User Interface, in particular, were ideally suited to deriving the major distribution patterns that more asthmatic prevalence tends to be occurred on conventional commercial district and industrial complex. A visual map using spatial modelling technology were generated to show the fact that some degree of increasing or decreasing trends of asthmatic prevalence already exists in the experimental sites. It could be used as an evidence to restrict initiation of development activities causing negative influence to asthma such as road construction. The result of this study would play a crucial role in improving the quality of environmental health information service if it is operationally introduced into the Government since the highly user-friendly interface provides a completely new means for disseminating information for asthmatics in a visual and interactive manner to the general public.

  • 의료 영상의 3차원 가시화는 최근에 교육 진단 수술 리허설 등의 목적으로 많은 관심을 받고 있다. 하지만 관심영역을 3차원으로 가시화 하는 작업은 복잡하고 시간이 많이 소요되는 과정이기 때문에, 대부분 ITK, VTK 같이 가시화 알고리즘이 구현된 오픈소스 라이브러리들이 사용되고 있다. 또한 인터페이스의 구현을 위해 Win32 API, MFC, Java SWT와 같은 플랫폼 또는 라이브러리들이 사용되고 있는 상황인데, 이러한 경향으로 인해 실제로 일련의 알고리즘을 모두 이해하고 직접 구현하는 경우는 거의 찾아보기 힘들다. 이에 본 논문은 의료 영상의 3차원 가시화를 위해 필요한 여러 기술들에 대해 설명하고, 이를 사용자와 상호작용 하는 인터페이스를 구현한 대화형 3차원 의료 가시화 소프트웨어를 구현하였다.

An Efficient Visualization Method for Interactive Volume Rendering (대화식 볼륨 렌더링을 지원하는 효율적인 가시화 방법)

  • In order to widely use volume rendering technology in practical fields, a user should be able to control the classification parameter interactively and extract a meaningful information easily from the 3D data as fast as it can be. Previous work on an accelerating volume rendering reconstructs an isotropic volume from an anisotropic one and classifies in pre-processing time and then renders the classified volume rapidly in run time. But, this traditional step may result in long pre-processing time and no real-time feedback. In this paper, we present an efficient classification and rendering method that allows a user to set the opacity transfer function interactively at rendering time on a personal computer without special-purpose hardware.

  • We collected eleven large astronomical catalogues, which include 2MASS, USNO B1.0, GSC 2 catalogues and so on. Most of these catalogues are the frequently used by astronomers for all sorts of applications. But the researches are faced with the problem of accessing these databases because these catalogues contain from tens millions up to thousands of millions of records. So we developed a web application system to manage these large catalogues, the main purpose of the web application is to allow a powerful and efficient querying activity on these catalogues through internet by using a simple web interface. User could retrieve the query result in variety of formats including plain text, HTML, Microsoft Excel format (XLS), and VOTable. Furthermore, user also could display and analyze result graphically by using a powerful interactive visualization tools named VOPlot which was developed by the Virtual Observatory-India (VOI) project.

  • Students, who are studying the field of accounting, have to learn and practice statistics in order to analyze the current social status and to predict the Suture trend. however, students have a strong tendency to avoid the statistics lessons, which are dealing with complicated numbers, mathematics, various equations, and so on. This paper aims to construct a stimulating environment for learning statistics and develop an actual lesson on the Internet, Which students can study by practicing directly. The lesson is fully interactive and visualized by using multimedia technologies. The effectiveness of the experiment is measured by survey questions to the students who used the lesson.

EvoSNP-DB: A database of genetic diversity in East Asian populations

  • Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have become popular as an approach for the identification of large numbers of phenotype-associated variants. However, differences in genetic architecture and environmental factors mean that the effect of variants can vary across populations. Understanding population genetic diversity is valuable for the investigation of possible population specific and independent effects of variants. EvoSNP-DB aims to provide information regarding genetic diversity among East Asian populations, including Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. Non-redundant SNPs (1.6 million) were genotyped in 54 Korean trios (162 samples) and were compared with 4 million SNPs from HapMap phase II populations. EvoSNP-DB provides two user interfaces for data query and visualization, and integrates scores of genetic diversity (Fst and VarLD) at the level of SNPs, genes, and chromosome regions. EvoSNP-DB is a web-based application that allows users to navigate and visualize measurements of population genetic differences in an interactive manner, and is available online at [http://biomi.cdc.go.kr/EvoSNP/].

  • A hologram projects a 3 dimensional video as same as a real subject and it is made by principles of holography. Many researches about holographic technology have been developed. Studies for visualization of 3D videos, holographic storages, and optical media have proceeded mostly in engineering. It is hard to find any researches about the convergent system from the viewpoint of interactive elements and motion graphic design such as this paper's concept. Most studies of augmented reality have been developed in the domain of technology and education but the field of content production. AR has been convergent with various fields and media, so it is time to make an active progress in the study of convergent content development. The goal of this study is to develop cultural contents and create new values through the convergence of holography and AR. The purpose of this paper is to propose the way of developing the convergent type of cultural contents and construct the production system by the new approach to users using the convergence technology of holography and augmented reality.

  • 인간의 생각, 혹은 행동이나 경험을 통한 지식을 포함해서 데이터나 정보는 예술과 문화 영역에 새로운 관점을 일으키는 시각적 표현과 미디어 사이의 소통을 위한 수단이 되고 있다. 정보 와 데이터를 시각화 하는 방법은 예술의 형태를 통하여 다양하게 전개되어 왔다. 최근 예술에서 뉴미디어와 상호작용 기술의 적용은 다양한 데이터나 정보 수집을 통해 미적 표현의 가능성을 확장하거나, 관객이 작품에 능동적이고 직접적으로 참여할 수 있는 몰입 시청각 환경을 제공하며, 또한 직관적인 정보 시각화를 사용하여 상호작용적인 입체적 가상환경의 시공간 개념을 확장한다. 그러므로 관객은 수동적 수용자라기보다는 작품의 환경을 변화시키는 능동적 역할을 할 수 있다. 예술 및 디자인 영역에서 예술가의 뉴미디어 활용은 정보를 정적인 시각화 방법에서 디지털 기반 이미지 처리와 사용자 생성 시각화 방법으로 더욱 상호작용적이고 역동적인 표현으로 변형하고 있다. 미디어아트에서 시각화의 목적은 관객이나 사용자가 예술 작품에 존재하는 정보나 데이터 기반 콘텐츠를 더 쉽고 빠르게 이해하고 상호반응하도록 돕는 것이다. 본 연구는 미디어아트에서 정보나 데이터 시각화를 사용하여 작품과 관객 사이의 상호작용적 소통을 유발하는 다양한 시각적 표현 방법을 알아보기 위하여, 최근 미디어아트 사례들을 분석하는데 목적이 있다. 분석 내용은 관객이 참여할 수 있는 시청각 설치 환경을 구성하는 다양한 상호작용 디자인 방법들을 작품에 적용함으로써 데이터나 정보를 시각화하는 방법, 예술 작품의 구성 요소로서 미적 표현들 생성에 관한 해석, 그리고 미디어아트를 완성하기 위한 실질적인 요인으로서 미디어아트와 관객 간의 상호작용적인 소통이 이루어지는 방법들을 포함한다. 이러한 분석들은 새로운 상호작용 시각 표현의 가능성을 제공하며, 관객이 최근 미디어아트를 미적 예술형식으로 이해하도록 도울 것이다.
