Recently, localized heavy rain due to "EL-LIO" was a kind of reason by risk of slope stability. In this paper, the behaviour of slope when localized heavy rain was studied. In order to perform this study experimental programs were performed. Experimental programs was checked filtering conditions for slope stability due to localized heavy rain. And then, investigated slope stability and fracture mechanism each other types. In the experimental study, performed changing filtering condition by embankment, through five fixing factors such as rainfall intensity, slope shape, geological condition, compaction energy and water content. According to the results of this study, behaviour of facture slope has made a shallow and narrow waterway. This waterway expanded base stone. In order to, suggested a system for slope stability examination.

Because drought is a complex and stochastic phenomenon in nature, statistical approaches for drought assessment receive great attention for water resource planning and management. Generally drought characteristics such as severity, duration and intensity are modelled separately. This study aims to develop a relationship between drought characteristics using a bivariate copula model. To achieve the objective, we calculated the Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) using rainfall data at 6 rain gauge stations for the period of 1961-1999 in Jehlum River Basin, Pakistan, and investigated the drought characteristics. Since there is a significant correlation between drought severity and duration, they are usually modeled using different marginal distributions and joint distribution function. Using exponential distribution for drought severity and log-logistic distribution for drought duration, the Galambos copula was recognized as best copula to model joint distribution of drought severity and duration based on the KS-statistic. Various return periods of drought were calculated to identify time interval of repeated drought events. The result of this study can provide useful information for effective water resource management and shows superiority against univariate drought analysis.

The UHF band wind profiler radars of the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA), which produces the vertical profile of the wind, need to be calibrated for better performance. The capabilities of the radar in detecting even light precipitation were used for the calibration of which reference takes the hourly series of ground rainfall rate measured by a rain gauge at the radar site. This calibration must be renewed regularly according to the methodology implemented in this work since errors occur on the wind vectors in the clear sky without reflectivity calibration. Comparing the wind by wind profiler with that by radiosonde, the optimal radar constant contributed to the improvement of wind accuracy.

The interference among the rain radars and interference in the adjacent wireless station due to the spurious signals from the rain radar were analyzed in this paper. The rain radar measures the rain intensity using S-band signal. The measured data are utilized in forecasting the rainfall. The interference among the rain radars or in the adjacent wireless stations may be caused by the high output power of rain radar. Based on the propagation analysis of S band signal and the deduced interference protection ratio of rain radar, the interference due to the rain radar are analyzed. Also, the radiation spectrum characteristics of a rain radar are deduced from the caused interference effects by the spurious signals of the rain radar.
Hydrometeor type and Drop Size Distribution (DSD) in cloud are the fundamental properties that may help explain the rain formation processes and determine the parameters of radar meteorology. This study presents a preliminary analysis of hydrometeor types and DSD data of cloud measured with a PARSIVEL (PARticle SIze and VELocity) optical disdrometer at the site of Cloud Physics Observation System (CPOS, $37^{\circ}41^{\prime}N$, $128^{\circ}45^{\prime}E$, 843 m from sea level) in Daegwallyeong mountainside of Korea. The method has been validated by comparing the observed rainfall rates with the computed ones from the fitted distribution, using the physical data such as DSD, terminal velocity, and rain intensity which were measured by a Micro-Rain Radar (MRR) and a PARSIVEL optical disdrometer. The analysis period started in three cases: on rainy days with light rain (15.5 mm), moderate rain (76 mm), and heavy rain (121 mm), from March to November 2007, respectively.

This study, based on the monthly rainfall data, was carried out to determine the agricultural drought index which enables to describe the regional and seasonal drought characteristics of rice cropping system in Korea. The results obtained were summarized as follows ; 1.A new agricultural drought index (ADI) was evaluated seasonally according to the product of drought intensity and duration. This ADI is proposed as standard design criterion for irrigation planning. 2.The relationship between agricultural drought index and return periods was figured out. These diagrams could be used to estimate the seasonal drought severity of a certain year and to select design year corresponding to the specific drought frequency. 3.The regional drought characteristics were classified and those are useful to determine proper rice varieties and planting time and make drought counterplans. 4.Spring drought occurred once in 3 or 4 years and in a regional respect, rather frequently occurred in Seoul and Daegu areas than in Busan, Daejeon, Kwangju and Chuncheon areas. Summer drought occurred once in 5 years in Daegu and Busan areas and once in 7 or 8 years in other areas. 5.Sequential drought which gave severe drought damage of rice production occurred once in 20 years in Daegu area and in 10 years in Kwangju area.
In this paper distributed models for simulating spatially and temporally varied moving storm in a watershed were developed. The complete simulation in a watershed is achieved through two sequential flow simulations which are overland flow simulation and channel network flow simulation. Two dimensional continuity equation and momentum equation of kinematic approximation were used in the overland flow simulation. On the other hand, in the channel network simulation two types of governing equations which are one dimensional continuity and momentum equations between two adjacent sections in a channel, and continuity and energy equations at a channel junction were applied. The finite difference formulations were used in the channel network model. Macks Creek Experimental Watershed in Idaho, USA was selected as a target watershed and the moving storm on August 23, 1965, which continued from 3:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M., was utilized. The rainfall intensity fo the moving storm in the watershed was temporally varied and the storm was continuously moved from one place to the other place in a watershed. Furthermore, runoff parameters, which are soil types, vegetation coverages, overland plane slopes, channel bed slopes and so on, are spatially varied. The good agreement between the hydrograph simulated using distributed models and the hydrograph observed by ARS are Shown. Also, the conservations of mass between upstreams and downstreams at channel junctions are well indicated and the wpatial and temporal vaiability in a watershed is well simulated using suggested distributed models.
