In order to observe the influence of pulsed Nd:YAG laser at its out-of-contact with dentin on tooth temperature, we have applied pulsed Nd:YAG laser to 2mm thick dentin sample at a point of contact and from a distance of 1mm, 2mm, 3mm and 4mm with an energy of 0.3W, 0.5W, 0.8W, 1.5W and 2.0W. They were exposed to periods of 3 seconds, 6 seconds, 9 seconds and 15 seconds respectively and measured temperature changes. The results as follows : 1. When the time ad intensity of power were constant, the temperature changes on dentin of tooth depended on the distance. The temperature increased when the laser intensity increased bu two other conditions were contact. 2. At the point of contact, the temperature has risen over $5^{\circ}C$ regrdless of intensity of the power or the time. However, there was $5^{\circ}C$ fluctuation with 0.3 W for 3 seconds treatment. 3. The temperature change was less than $5^{\circ}C$ thermal change at the distance of 1mm and 2mm respectively when lased for 3 seconds, 6 seconds, 12 seconds and 15 seconds with 0.3 W. Similar results were observed at 3 and 6 seconds treatment with 0.5 W and at 3 seconds treatment with 0.8 and 1.0W respectively. 4. It showed less than 5(C thermal change when lased for 3 seconds, 6 seconds, 9 seconds, 12 seconds and 15 seconds with 0.3W at the distance of 3mm and 4mm. The same results were seen in 3 seconds, 6 seconds and 9 seconds treatment with 0.5W and in 3 seconds with 0.8W and 1.0W respectively. As we have seen the above, the results has indicated that pulsed Nd:YAG lasing at its off contact on dentin of 2mm thickness will not cause irreversible changes if lasing intensity, lasing distance and lasing time are appropriate.

Stimulus effects of strobe light on jack mackerel Trachurus japonicus were studied by measuring the heart rate change according to the different strobe light intensity of 5~75 lx$\cdot$s. Heart rate was observed for 60 min: 10 min before, 30 min during and 20 min after the strobe light stimulus. The measurement of heart rate was repeated three times at 2 hour intervals. The results showed that the heart rate increased during stimulus but temporarily decreased immediately after ending of stimulus. The heart rate changes in both during and after stimulus were decreased with reducing light intensities. The heart rate change according to the repeated experiment was not remarkably different under the lower light intensity

In the progression of the Temporomandibular Joint Disorder(TMD), not only deformation and perforation of disc occur. But also fibrotic adhesion and inflammatory changes to the retrodiscal tissue can be seen in addition to the condylar degenerative change (e.g. osteoarthritis). However, the correct diagnosis,?planning for appropriate treatment, and prediction of prognosis are limited, because there are no means to stage the progression of the disorder. In this study relative signal intensity of retrodiscal tissue in MRI and the synovial fluid concentration of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2), MMP-9, and Interleukin-6(IL-6) in the 23 temporomandibular joints(TMJ), from 17 patients with TMD were evaluated as a possible diagnostic marker. The relative signal intensity of retrodiscal tissue was referenced to brain gray matter with same region of interest(ROI) size. The concentrations of MMP-2, MMP-9, and IL-6 were evaluated by Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The collected data were compared with condylar degenerative change, joint effusion and disc position observed in MRI. The relative signal intensity of the retrodiscal tissue was increased significantly when degenerative changes were present. In addition, there was significantly high signal intensity in the presence of a disc displaced without reduction. The concentration of IL-6 was significantly increased when condylar degenerative change was no observed. And there were no changes in the levels of IL-6 according to disc position and joint effusion measurement. Moreover, there were no significant relevance between the concentration of total MMP-2 and active MMP-9 in synovial fluid, relative to degenerative changes in the mandibular condyle, to joint effusion, and to disc position observed on MRI images. In conclusion, the relative signal intensity of the retrodiscal tissue can be regarded as a mean of diagnosing the procession of TMD in a non-invasive manner. But more additional studies are required for the levels of MMP-2. MMP-9, and IL-6 to determine their potentials as a diagnostic marker for TMD.
This study was done to determine differences in effect of postoperative pain control in patients receiving auricular electroacustimulation vs transcutaneous electrical nerve stimualtion following total knee replacement surgery. Thirty-one cases referred to physical therapy department after treated by total knee replacement surgery by orthopedic surgery department at the Pohang St. Mary's Hospital from January 1993 through June 1994. Of 31 total knee replacement cases, 13 cases were auricular electroacustimulation group, 11 cases were transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation group, and 7 cases were control group. The results of the study summerized are as follows: Thirty-one total knee replacement cases(male in 12 cases, female in 19 cases), ranging in age from 34 to 61 years(mean${\pm}$SD=49.90 7.56) with diagnoses of degenerative arthritis(20 cases), rheumatoid arthritis(9 cases), and other(2 cases). In auricular electroacustimulation group, there was a significant change of pain intensity, unpleasantness, and active range of motion after treatment(p<0.01). In transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation group, there was a significant change of pain intensity, unpleasantness, and active range of motion after treatment(p<0.01). In control group, did not show significant pre-posttreatment differences in pain intensity, unpleasantness, active range of motion(p>0.05). The mean change in pain intensity and unpleasantness, active range of motion from pretreatment baseline for the 3 groups. Auricular electroacustimulation group showed the large magnitude of increase in pain intensity and unpleasantness, active range of motion when compared to its own pretreatment cycle. Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation group showed small magnitude of increase in pain intensity and unpleasantness, active range of motion when compared to its own pretreatment cycle. No significant changes were observed in control group. Highly significant differences in pain intensity, unpleasantness, and active rage of motion were found using an ANOVA measures between treatment groups and control group(p<0.01). The squares correlation coefficients of pain and function measures pretreatment-posttreatment differences for each group. In treatment group, there was significant correlation between pain scale and function(p<0.001). In control group, there was no correlation between the pain scale and function (p>0.05). The continuous study is needd for many interesting issues of auricular electroacustimulation in new future.

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide and is caused by a variety of causes. The highest risk factor for cardiovascular disease is high blood pressure, which has no obvious symptoms, but if left untreated, it causes several complications. In order to treat hypertension, medication and regular exercise are required. In people with high blood pressure, excessive physical activity can put a great strain on the heart and lead to cardiovascular disease. Therefore, there is a need for an exercise intensity monitoring system through PTT measurement that can perform exercise at an appropriate intensity. In this study, we implemented a PTT change monitoring system according to exercise intensity by calculating PTT through ECG and PPG measurement. The implemented system differentiates the R-peak of the ECG and P-peak of the PPG, and calculates the PTT using the time difference between R-peak and P-peak. A running experiment was conducted to monitoring PTT change according to exercise intensity. As a result of the experiment, low intensity PTT is 0.313s, moderate is 0.220s, high is 0.188s, it was confirmed that the PTT decreased as the exercise increase increased.

To investigate the effect of stress wave propagation for crack tip, impact responses of two-dimensional plates with oblique cracks are investigated by a numerical method. In the numerical analysis, the finite element method is used in space domain discretization and the Newmark constant acceleration algorithm is used in time integration. According to the numerical results from the impact response analysis. it is found that the stress fields are bisected at the crack surface and the parts of stress intensity are moved along the crack face. The crack tip stress fields are yaried rapidly. The magnitude of crack tip stress fields are converted to dynamic stress intensity factor. Dynamic sress intensity factor appears when the stress wave has reached at the crack tip and the aspect of change of dynamic stress intensity factor is shown to be the same as the part of the flow of stress intensity.
This paper describes a study of fillet welded joint stressed perpendicular to the weld line. The finite element method was used to determine the stress intensity factor for cruciform joint at weld toe and root cracks according to variation of H/Tp, weld angle and main plate thickness. But, in this study, weld angle was fixed at 45.deg., since the variation of weld angle affect the stress intensity factor little, also main plate thickness was fixed. Pulsating tension fatigue test was done at the second phase of experiment. The work using the concepts of the fracture mechanics on the stable crack growth, was in the correlation of the experimental fatigue stress-life behavior because the fatigue behaviors of various joint geometries are related to the stress intensity factors calculated by F.E.M. analysis. Main results obtained are summarized as follows. 1) According to the propagation of toe crack, the variation of the stress intensity factor at root crack is obvious as H/Tp is smaller. 2) According to the propagation of root cracks, the change of the stress intensity factor of the toe is very large with propagation of root crack. 3) The calculation formula of the stress intensity factor of crack propagation at the root crack was obtained. 4) The calculation formula of the stress intensity factor at the toe cracks was obtained in similar manner. 5) From the results of experiment, the velocity of fatigue crack propagation at the weld toe and root was estimated.

To determine the optimum light intensity for growth of ginseng plants, change of temperature, moisture content in son, occurrence alternaria blight, defoliation rate, chlorophyll contents, and growth of shoots and roots were investigated under different light intensity such as 5%, 10%, 20% and 30% light transmittance rare(L.T.R.). The results obtained were as follows. 1. Maximum temperature under the shading was increased as the increase of light intensity, whereas soil moisture content decreased 2. As the increase of light intensity, stem and Peduncle length, leaf area, and chlorophyll contents decreased significantly but length and width of the leaf was not significant, while stem diameter, special leaf weight and chlorophyll a/chl. b ratio increased 3. Stem color was shown dark purp!e as the increase of light intensity. 4. Photosynthesis during the day was highest at 9 A.M. and decreased as time passed in all plots. The means of photouynthesis during the day showed in the order of 20%, 10%, 30%, 5% L.T.R., and optimum light intensity for highest photosxthesis was 18.4% L.T.R. by theoritical equation. 5. It was showed a tendency that alternaria leaf blight of ginseng plants was increased as the increase of light intensity. 6. Defoliation rate of ginseng plants was increased as the increase of light intensity, especially all plants were defoliated by late June without shading. 7. Yield percentage of the rear line was increased as the increase of light intensity. Root weight per plant showed in the order of 20%, 10%, 30%, 5% L.T.R., and optimum light intensity for the best yield was 18.5% L.T.R. by theeritical equation.
This study made linked Energy IO Table 00-05-08 of 76 sectors in intermediate sectors and analyzed structural decomposition analysis in energy consumption change in industrial sector with both by aggregate data and micro data. Structural decomposition analysis focused value added level change, value added share change of each industry, output structural change of each industry and energy intensity change of each industry as factors. Supply side model based on Ghosh inverse matrix was applied as empirical model because Korea has export driven industrial structure. Empirical results with aggregate data showed that value added change increased energy consumption and output structural change of each industry decreased energy consumption in both 2000~2005 and 2005~2008. However value added share change and energy intensity change caused opposite direction in energy consumption change with time. Policy based on aggregate data can not evaluate effort of each industry in energy efficiency and make effective results because aggregate data delete character of each industry.
