Implementation of ROS-Based Intelligent Unmanned Delivery Robot System (ROS 기반 지능형 무인 배송 로봇 시스템의 구현)

  • In this paper, we implement an unmanned delivery robot system with Robot Operating System(ROS)-based mobile manipulator, and introduce the technologies employed for the system implementation. The robot consists of a mobile robot capable of autonomous navigation inside the building using an elevator and a Selective Compliance Assembly Robot Arm(SCARA)-Type manipulator equipped with a vacuum pump. The robot can determines the position and orientation for picking up a package through image segmentation and corner detection using the camera on the manipulator. The proposed system has a user interface implemented to check the delivery status and determine the real-time location of the robot through a web server linked to the application and ROS, and recognizes the shipment and address at the delivery station through You Only Look Once(YOLO) and Optical Character Recognition(OCR). The effectiveness of the system is validated through delivery experiments conducted within a 4-story building.

  • As underwater robotic vehicles (URVs) become attractive for more sophisticated underwater tasks, the demand of high performance in terms of accuracy and dexterity has been increased. An autonomous underwater robotic vehicle, ODIN (Omni-Directional Intelligent Navigator) was designed and built at the Autonomous Systems Laboratory of the University of Hawaii in 1991. Since 1991, various studies were conducted on ODIN and have contributed to the advancement in underwater robotics. Its refurbished model ODIN II was based on VxWorks in VMEbus. Recently, ODIN was born again as a PC based system, ODIN III with unique features such as new vehicle system software architecture with an objective-oriented concept, a graphical user interface, and an independent and modular structure using a Dynamic Linking Library (DLL) based on the Windows operating system. ODIN III software architecture offers an ideal environment where various studies for advanced URV technology can be conducted. This paper describes software architecture of ODIN III and presents initial experimental results of fine motion control on ODIN III.

  • Adopting the method of user weighting fuzzy mathematics, the author accomplished the subject title “Study on Expert System of Chicken\`s Common Diseases Diagnostics”, which could properly diagnose 30 kinds of chicken\`s common diseases and the accordance rate reached 80% verified through 244 disease cases. On the basis of the accomplishment, the multimedia technology was adopted further more to establish a system, which integrated with the input, display, query, and processing of sound, picture and text etc., combined with the previous chicken disease diagnostic expert system, make the output information of computer more rich and comprehensive, and the accordance rate of disease diagnosis could be improved. The system consists of database, knowledge base, graphics and picture base. This system is easy to operate and interface of which is vivid and intuitive. It could output diagnostic result and prescribe rapidly, so that, such a system is not only adapted to large, medium chicken farm but also to grass-roots veterinary station for developing health care and disease diagnosing. It is sure that the system could have side prospect of application.

  • Autonomous Intrusion Analysis Agent(AIAA) is Incident Response Team staff's tool that scans, analyses, reports and alerts the traces of intrusion based on system logs and intruder's backdoors inside compromised system by IR staff after security incident is reported to the IR team. AIAA is intelligent to recognize to check out who is intruder from all the user accounts and to report the suspected candidates to the master control system in IR team. IR staff who controls AIAA with master system can pick up an intruder from the candidates reported by AIAA agent and review all related summary reports and details including source host's mane, finger information, all illegal behavior and so on. AIAA is moved to compromised system by the staff to investigate the signature of intrusion along the trace of victim hosts and it is also operated in secret mode to detect the further intrusion. AIAA is alive in all victim systems until the incident is closed and IR staff can control AIAA operation and dialogue with AIAA agent in Web interface.

  • According to the expansion of the E-Commerce based on Internet, the Interoperability between shopping malls and the expansibility of B2B has been needed. Also, Intelligent User Interface has been needed. The XML based Script Processor, the solution of the problem, is good for Interoperability and if a shopping mall is build by it, it is possible to do customer oriented display that an XML document is displayed with different looks by other style sheet according to customer's preference. In the proposed system, the TMP(Template Markup Language), an auto XML generation script, is defined by XML and the script processor is implemented to work on the shopping mall on the Web.

Intelligent NURBS Surface Interpolation System with Embedded Online Tool-Path Planning (온라인 방식의 공구경로 계획을 내장한 지능형 NURBS 곡면 보간 시스템)

  • The purpose of this study is to improve the machining of free-formed NURBS surfaces using newly defined G-codes which can directly deal with shapes defined from CAD/CAM programs on a surface basis and specialize in rough and finish cut. To this purpose, a NURBS surface interpolation system is proposed in this paper. The proposed interpolation system includes online tool-path planning, real-time interpolation and feedrate regulation considering an effective machining method and minimum machining time all suitable for unit NURBS surface machining. The corresponding algorithms are simultaneously executed in an online manner. The proposed NURBS surface interpolation system is integrated and implemented with a PC-based 3-axis CNC milling system. A graphic user interface (GUI) and a 3D tool-path viewer which interprets the G-codes for NURBS surfaces and displays whole tool-paths are also developed and included in our real-time control system. The proposed system is evaluated through actual machining in terms of size of NC data, machining time, regulation of feedrate and cutting force focused on finish cut in comparison with the existing method.

  • Recently the substation automation is actively researched at each country. Since the substation automation is an integrated system that consist of electrical, electronic and computer technologies, performance evaluation is very important to inspect the developed system's applicable possibility for real power system. Most studies are verified using computer simulation, because it is hard to apply them to real power systems. Therefore development of a substation simulator is necessary for the performance evaluation of many application systems such as operator aid system. This paper introduces a substation simulator. An intelligent fault diagnosis and restorative control expert system is also introduced UDP/IP is applied as a protocol for data transport between expert system and SC(station computer). As to the Graphic User Interface, C++ Language and Visual Basic is used in the Windows NT operating system together with four Pentium II systems.

  • This paper presents the information transmission between on-board and ground-site in MAGLEV. considering safety and high speed operation and density operation, information transmission between them is necessary. Therefore it is necessary for transmission system to ensure high speed transmission, low error rate, massive information, and reliability of information. To provide above conditions, 1.1km signal line assembly was constructed and Frequency Shift Keying(FSK) modulation and Open System Interconnection(OSI) based high-level data link control(HDLC) protocol are applied. To modulate digital signal for transmission from ground-site to on-board, carrier frequency of 70kHz is used and 90khz is used for transmission from on-board to ground-site. Transmission speed is 2400bps for consideration of train speed, quantity of information, and data error rate. And this paper introduces information monitoring considering user interface and presents the method for an effective data transmission in MAGLEV which is now being tested and intends to provide for an intelligent train operation system in future.

  • The ever increasing requirements on today's compacts with regard to their geometry and precision call for flexible high-precision and most capable production systems. DORST Technologies has coped with these requirements by developing the new HP series for pressing forces between 1600 kN and 16000 kN and the new HS series for pressing forces between 150 kN and 1200 kN. These fully hydraulic presses featuring upper ram, lower ram, core rod, filler, up to 4 lower tool levels and up to 4 upper tool levels with closed-loop controlled movements. Thanks to latest servo technology and an electronic bus system it is possible to have all movements closed-loop controlled in the desired relation to each other. Thus, today's hydraulic presses provide high stroke rates, low energy consumption and a user-friendly interface. The input of data is carried out via clearly arranged screen masks on a touch-screen. The innovative DORST $IPG^{(R)}$ (Intelligent Program Generator) has been designed to support the set-up staff in preparing and optimizing the toolprogram. The combination of the machine type with the hydraulic unit determines the productivity in consideration of the specific application and the part to be pressed. Thanks to the closed-loop control circuits, DORST hydraulic automatic presses of the latest generation ensure unmatched precision and repeatability - and consequently process reliability - often without necessitating subsequent machining steps.

  • IoT is emerging topic of the post-smartphone era. But IoT service is actually not easy but due to the absence of the open standard IoT service platform. In this study, We propose and implement IoT services platform using commercial SNS platform like Tweet, Facebook or YouTube. we implement the intelligent control system of the urban farm using our IoT services platform as an example. Our system can save an additional server deployment and management cost using open SNS platform like Tweet or Facebook or Youtube. In addition, there are needs to develop App. for the smartphone because we can take advantage of the user interface which is developed by global enterprises.
