  • This study focuses on the analysis of the service process and interaction mode of the serving robot used in the restaurant, Through user research, shadowing research and indepth interviews with customers and catering service personnel, this paper analyzes the contact points between catering service machines, people and users, constructs user journey map to understand users' expectations. In addition to the delivery service that can be allocated to the machine and people, the blueprint construction of ordering, reception and table cleaning services can also included in the service process. The final proposal is to improve the existing machine human interface and design a new service scheme.

  • Human Adaptive Mechatronics(HAM) is a new concept which was proposed in our university's research project sponsored by Japanese Ministry of Education, Sports, Culture, Science and Technology(MEXT), and is defined as "intelligent mechanical systems that adapt themselves to the user's skill under various environments, assist to improve the user's skill, and assist the human-machine system to achieve best performance". In this paper, the concept and key-items of HAM are mentioned. And the control strategy to realize a HAM human-machine system is explained in the case of physical-interface system, i.e. haptic system. The proposed assist-control of a force-feedback type haptic system includes online estimation of a operator's control characteristics, and a `force assist' function implemented as a change in the support ratio according to the identified skill level. We developed a HAM-haptic device test system, executed evaluation experiments with this apparatus, and analyzed the measured data. It was confirmed that the operator's skill could be estimated and that operator's performance was enhanced by the assist-control.

  • Advanced Intelligent Network(AIN) and X.500 directory service have similarity in between. X.500 capabilities and the requirements for the Service Control Function(SCF) to Service Data Function(SDF) in AIN. As an interface, SCF can be mapping as a Directory User Agent(DUA) and SDF can be mapping as a Directory System Agent(DSA). Based on the concepts, X.500 directory can be applied to AIN. In this paper we suggest to apply the X.500 DSP to the SDF/SDF interface to perform a distribution function. Also we show that the SCF-SDF/SDF-SDF relationship can be possible under applying X.500 DAP/DSP within the set of Capability Set 1 (CS1),CS2 and CS3. Finally, based on the above contents, we introduce the designed schematic of AIN SDF Server System for a distributed processing in AIN and design the X.500 schema of Universal Personal Telecommunication(UPT) service for supporting AIN SDF Server.

  • The demand for the development of automated construction equipments is gradually increasing to deal with the current problems of construction technology, such as a lack of experienced workers, the aging of engineers, safety issues, etc. In particular, earth work such as excavation is very machine-dependent, and there has been a great deal of research on the development of an intelligent excavator, which involves great safety concerns. Thus, the objective of this study is to develop the technology to enhance the safety of intelligent excavation systems by developing an omnidirectional object detection technology for the intelligent excavator and applying it to a user-friendly system. The existing literature was reviewed, and the function of various sensor technologies was investigated and analyzed. Then, the best laser sensor was selected for an experiment to determine its effectiveness. An omnidirectional object detection algorithm was developed for a user interface program, and this can be used as the fundamental technology for the development of a safety management system for an intelligent excavator.

  • The web server for the embedded Linux system(ELS), unlike the ones for the usual Linux or Windows, has some disadvantages such as small number of installable applications, low compatibility and limited extensibility. This fact raises some problems when data are transferred in real-time via the web server, which are mainly caused by a poor performance of the processor and small-sized memory. Conventional user interfaces adopted for the usual web servers are unsuitable for the ELS because they are platform-limited and their installations are done by the form of plug-ins. If the web server for the ELS has an Ajax engine that can be utilized without any installation procedure, the advantages of usability, accessibility and quick response time can be obtained. This paper presents the Ajax interface for the ELS web server. The efficiency of the proposed technology in the real-time remote monitoring is shown through an implementation.

  • The voyage data is very important for safety of ships, and duty being effectuated by the installation of voyage data record (VDR) on ships. VDR is a black-box, and it contains 14 kinds of voyage data as text. But it is not easy to understand when the accident happened because voyage data is saved as complicated texts. User interface (UI), analysis, visualization system, which works for assist to gather information about situation of accident, was developed. It will be possible to develop onboard ship monitoring and voyage prediction system by the VDR visualization system's development in near future.

  • Particle swarm optimization (PSO) is employed to train fuzzy-neural networks (FNN), which can be employed as an important building block in real life robot systems, controlled by voice-based commands. The FNN is also trained to capture the user spoken directive in the context of the present performance of the robot system. The system has been successfully employed in a real life situation for navigation of a mobile robot.

  • 기존의 퍼지 제어기는 퍼지 추론시 [0, 1]의 소속도를 갖는 퍼지 소속함수들의 실수연산으로 인하여 연산수행 속도가 저하되는 문제를 가지고 있다 따라서 본 논문에서는 실수연산으로 인하여 야기되었던 속도 저하문제를 해결하기 위한 새로운 퍼지연산 기법으로 실수 값을 갖는 퍼지 소속 함수 값을 정수형 격자(pixel)에 매핑 시켜 정수형 퍼지 소속 함수 값만을 가지고 연산함으로써 기존의 퍼지제어기에 비해 매우 빠른 연산을 수행 할 수 있는 고속 퍼지제어기를 제안한다. 또한 퍼지제어시스템 설계시에 퍼지 입.출력 변수들의 퍼지항들을 입력시킬 수 있는 GUI(Graphic User Interface)를 제공하여 소속함수의 수정 및 퍼지 값 입력시 사용자에게 보다 편리한 환경을 제공한다.

  • This paper represents the mobile robot control system remote controlled by PDA(personal digital assistance). So far, owing to the development of internet technologies, lots of remote control methods through internet have been proposed. To control a mobile robot through internet and guide it under unknown environment, We propose a control method activated by PDA. In a proposed system, PDA acts as a user interface to communicate with notebook as a controller of the mobile robot system using TCP/IP protocol, and the notebook controls the mobile robot system. The information about the direction and velocity of the mobile robot feedbacks to the PDA and the PDA send new control method produced from the fuzzy inference engine.

  • The rapid diffusion of the Internet and the World Wide Web is facilitating greater interaction - and potential opportunities for customization - between vendors and customers. For instance, virtual reality and multimedia technologies allow consumers to envision their designed products. The increasing pace of the business environment highlights the need to deploy intelligent systems in all stages of product design and production planning. This paper deals with a system to generate an appropriate product design by adapting customer preferences and constraints using the case based reasoning methodology. Moreover, intelligent agents are integrated with virtual reality technology to provide a friendly user interface.
