  • Finding the optimum route of ship's pipes is complicated and time-consuming process. Experience of designers is the main tool in this process. To reduce design man-hours and human errors a design expert system shell and a geometric modeler is used to automate the design process. In this paper, a framework of the intelligent CAD system for pipe auto-routing is suggested, which consists of general-purpose expert system shell and a geometric modeler. The design expert system and the geometric modeling kernel have been integrated. The CADDS5 of Computervision is used as the overall CAD environment. The Nexpert Object of Neuron Data is used as the expert system shell. The CADDS5 ISSM is used as the interface that creates and modifies geometric models of pipes. Existing algorithms for the routing problem have been analyzed. Most of them are to solve the 2-D circuit routing problems. Ship piping system, specially within the engine room, is a complicated, large scale 3-D routing problem. Methods of expert system have been used to find the route of ship pipes on the main deck.

  • Electrodialysis (ED) is essential in separating ions through an ion exchange membrane. The disposal of brine generated from seawater desalination is a primary environmental concern, and its recycling through membrane separation technology is highly efficient. Alkali is produced by several chemical industries such as leather, electroplating, dyeing, and smelting, etc. A high concentration of alkali in the waste needs treatment before releasing into the environment as it is highly corrosive and has a chemical oxygen demand (COD) value. The concentration of calcium and magnesium is almost double in brine and is the perfect candidate for carbon dioxide adsorption, a major environmental pollutant. Sodium hydroxide is essential for the metal carbonation process which, is easily produced by the bipolar membrane electrodialysis process. Various strategies are available for its recovery, like reverse osmosis (RO), nanofiltration (NF), ultrafiltration (UF), and ED. This review discusses the ED process by ion exchange membrane for alkali recovery are discussed.

  • Any given object on the motor-driven turntable is pictured from 8 to 72 different views with a digital camera. 3D shape reconstruction is performed with the integrated software called by Scanware from these multiple digital photographs. There are several steps such as configuration, calibration, capturing, segmentation, shape creation, texturing and merging process during the shape reconstruction process. 3D geometry data can be exported to cad data such as Autocad input file. Also 3D image model is generated from 3D geometry and texture data, and is used to advertise the model in the internet environment. Consumers can see the object realistically from wanted views by rotating or zooming in the internet browsers with Scanbull spx plug-in. The spx format allows a compact saving of 3D objects to handle or download. There are many types of scan equipments such as laser scanners and photogrammetric scanners. Line or point scan methods by laser can generate precise 3D geometry but cannot obtain color textures in general. Reversely, 3D image modeling with photogrammetry can generate not only geometries but also textures from associated polygons. We got various 3D image models and introduced the process of getting 3D image model of an internet-connected watchdog robot.

  • Most distributed models have been developed for data interchange between model for hydrological analysis and GIS(Geographic Information System). And some interface systems between them have been developed to operate the model conveniently. This study is about developing integrated system between model and GIS not coupled system based on file interchange or interface system. In this study, HyGIS-GRM which is integrated system between GRM(Grid based Rainfall-runoff Model) which is physically based distributed rainfall-runoff model and HyGIS(Hydro Geographic Information System) have been developed. HyGIS-GRM can carry out all the processes from preparing input data to appling them to model in the same system, and this operation environment can improve the efficiency of running the model and analyzing modeling results. HyGIS-GRM can provide objective modeling environment through establishing the process of integrated operation of GIS and distributed model, and we can obtain fundamental technologies for developing integrated system between GIS and water resources model.

  • Design is an act based on multidisciplinary information. The involvement of various stakeholders makes it difficult to process, plan, and integrate. Iteration is frequent in most of the engineering design and development projects including construction. Design iterations cause rework, and extra efforts are required to get the optimal sequence and to manage the projects. The simple project management techniques are insufficient to fulfill the requirements of integrated design. This paper entails two things: design structure matrix and design parameters' information based model. The emphasis has been given to optimal sequence and crucial iteration using design structure matrix analysis technique. The design projects have been studied using survey data from industry. The optimal sequence and crucial iterations results have been utilized for proposed model. Model integrates two things: information about produced- required key design parameters and information of design changes during the design process. It will help to get familiar with Design management in order to fulfill contemporary needs.

  • Currently, cloud systems are not interoperable due to low interoperability between cloud systems as operators build up cloud environments with their own way. For example, users of the Google cloud system can not use the Microsoft (Microsoft) cloud system unless they go through an additional log-in process. In order for Google cloud system's users to use MS cloud system services, they must log in to the MS cloud system again after logging out of Google cloud system. In order to solve these problems, Cloud Service Broker(CSB) technology has emerged to resolve the interoperability problem between cloud systems, but many researches and developments are still needed. In this paper, we design an integrated user authentication system, which is a fundamental problem of cloud user interoperability among CSB (Cloud Service Broker) technologies, which is emerging as a service intervention technology of heterogeneous distributed cloud environment.

  • Palm oil mill effluent (POME) was produced in huge amounts in Malaysia, and if it discharged into the environment, it causes a serious problem regarding its high content of nutrients and high levels of COD and BOD concentrations. This study was devoted on POME treatment and purification using an integrated process consisting of microalgae treatment followed by membrane filtration. The main objective was to find the optimum conditions as retention time and pH in the biological treatment of POME. Since after the optimum conditions there is a diverse effect of time and the process become costly. According to our knowledge, there is no existing study optimized the retention time and percentage removal of nutrients for microalgae treatment of POME wastewater. In order to achieve with optimization, a second order polynomial model regression coefficients and goodness of fit results in removal percentages of ammonia nitrogen ($NH_3-N$), orthophosphorous ($PO_4{^{-3}}$), COD, TSS, and turbidity were estimated. WinQSB technique was used to optimize the objective function of the developed model, and the optimum conditions were found. Also, ultrafiltration membrane is useful for purification of POME samples as verified by experiments.

  • Software development methods have continued to evolve in response to changes in the environment. Structural methodology, information engineering methodology, and object-oriented methodology are the major trends of this change. Each methodology has its own characteristics and advantages, and its applied fields are different. Engineers performing practical work are familiar with applying each methodology, but are not familiar with applying structural methodologies or information engineering methodologies in an integrated manner. Therefore, the maximum effect of the methodology cannot be obtained. With this in mind, we would like to organize and present examples of how to integrate and apply structural methodology and information engineering methodology to the target of each methodology.
