In the present study, a shape design optimization scheme in shell structures is implemented based on the integrated framework of geometric modeling and analysis. The common representation of B-spline surface patch is used for geometric modeling. A geometrically-exact shell finite element is implemented. Control points or the surface are employed as design variables. In the computation of shape sensitivity, semi-analytical method is employed. Sequential linear programming is applied to the shape optimization of surfaces. The developed integrated framework should serve as a powerful tool to design and analysis of surfaces.
As microelectronics technology continues to progress, there is also a continuous demand on highly integration and miniaturization of systems. For example, it is desirable to package several integrated circuits together in multilayer structure, such as multichip modules, to achieve higher levels of compactness and higher performance. Passive components (i.e., capacitors, resistors, and inductors) are very important fort many MCM applications. In addition, the low-temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) process has considerable potential for embedding passive components in a small area at a low cost. In this paper, we investigate a method of statistically modeling integrated passive devices from just a small number of test structures. A set of LTCC inductors is fabricated and their scattering parameters (s-parameters) are measured for a range of frequencies from 50MHz to 5GHz. An accurate model for each test structure is obtained by using a building block based modeling methodology and circuit parameter optimization using the HSPICE circuit simulator.
OEIC(Optoelectronic Integrated Circuit)'s can be integrated horizontally or vertically. Horizontal integration approach is, however, more immune to parasitic and more universally applicable. In this paper, a structural modeling, fabrication and characterization of PIN photodiodes which can be used in the horizontal integration are performed. For device modeling, we build a transmission line model from 2-D device simulation, from which lumped model parameters are extracted. The speed limits of the PIN photodiodes can also be calculated under various structural conditions from the model. Thus optimum design of horizontally integrated PIN photodiodes for high speed operation are possible. Such InGaAs/InP PIN photodiodes for long-wavelength communications are fabricated using pit etch, epi growth, planarization, diffusion and metallization processes. Planarization process using both RIE and wet etching and diffusion process using evaporated Zn$_{3}P_{2}$ film are developed. Characterization of the fabricated devices is performed through C-V and I-V measurements. At a reserve bias of 10V, the dark current is less than 5nA and capacitance is about 0.4pF. The calculated bandwidth using the measured series resistance and capacitance is about 4.23GHz.

This paper reviews current status of the unified approach known as integrated safety assessment (ISA), as well as the associated SCAIS (simulation codes system for ISA) computer platform. These constitute a proposal, which is the result of collaborative action among the Nuclear Safety Council (CSN), University of Madrid (UPM), and NFQ Solutions S.L, aiming to allow independent regulatory verification of industry quantitative risk assessments. The content elaborates on discussions of the classical treatment of time in conventional probabilistic safety assessment (PSA) sequences and states important conclusions that can be used to avoid systematic and unacceptable underestimation of the failure exceedance frequencies. The unified ISA method meets this challenge by coupling deterministic and probabilistic mutual influences. The feasibility of the approach is illustrated with some examples of its application to a real size plant.
Today, there is a growing need of environment-friendly buildings, so-called 'green', facilities, and energy saving buildings to decrease environmental pollutants released into cities by construction activities. Green-Building Information Modeling (Green-BIM) is a purpose-built solution which supports to forecast energy consumption of 3-D model of a building by augmenting its primary 3-D measurements (width, height and depth) with many more dimensions (e.g. time, costs, social impacts and environmental consequences) throughout a series of sequential phases in the lifecycle of a building. The current study was carried out in order to integrate vegetation systems (particularly green roof and green wall systems) and investigate thermal performance of the new Sainsbury's building which will be built on Melton road, Leicester, United Kingdom. Within this scope, a 3-D building model of the news Sainsbury's building was first developed in $Autodesk^{(R)}$$Revit^{(R)}$ and this model was then simulated in $Autodesk^{(R)}$$Ecotect^{(R)}$once weather data of the construction site was obtained from $Autodesk^{(R)}$ Green Building $Studio^{(R)}$. This study primarily analyzed data from (1) solar radiation, (2) heat gains and losses, and (3) heating and cooling loads simulation to evaluate thermal performance of the building integrated with vegetation system or conventionally available envelops. The results showed that building integrated vegetation system can potentially reduce internal solar gains on the building rooftops by creating a 'bioshade'. Heat gains and losses through roofs and walls were markedly diminished by offering greater insulation on the building. Annual energy loads for heating and cooling were significantly reduced by vegetation more significantly through the green roof system in comparison to green wall system.

This paper addresses dynamic modeling and task-space trajectory following issues for nonholonomic mobile manipulators moving on a slope. An integrated dynamic modeling method is proposed considering nonholonomic constraints and interactive motions. An adaptive neural-fuzzy controller is presented for end-effector trajectory following, which does not rely on precise apriori knowledge of dynamic parameters and can suppress bounded external disturbances. Effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is verified through simulations.
Recently the construction project is intricately linked to the between participants. it is because construction informations are not integrate. This study suggests 3D modeling standard for integrated construction information. These suggestions can be useful to automation quantity take-off.
