The main objective of the study was to investigate the phytic acid contents of various cereals and legumes produced in Korea. The results showed that the phytic acid contents of buckwheat, foxtail millets, sorghum, millet, barley, jobs' tears, yellow corn and wheat flour (Urimil) were in a range of 0.13 to 2.27%. The contents of the phytic acid ranged from 1.03 to 1.16% for legumes including red Indian bean, black Indian bean, mung bean, and black soybean. The phytic acid content of brown rice was five times higher than those of 100% polished rice. The polishing process of the rice decreased significantly the content of the phytic acid. We estimate that the daily phytic acid intake from rice was changed from 653 mg/day in 1995 to 430 mg/day in 2005 based on the results of a national nutrition survey.

Optimization of in-cylinder flow is regarded as one of the most important factors to realize stable stratified charge combustion in a Spark-ignited Direct Injection(SDI) engine. Therefore, Computational Fluid Dynamic(CFD) simulation technique were used to clarify the characteristics of in-cylinder flow of a SDI engine with top entry intake port. Also, CFD results were compared to experimental results using Laser Doppler Velocimetry(LDV), Particle Image Velocimetry(PIV) and good validations were met. As the results reverse tumble flow generated during intake process was preserved by configuration of curved piston while base and reverse tumbles were diminished at the end of compression stroke in case of flat top piston. In addition, it will be needed to optimize the fuel mixture distribution based on these results.

The characteristic of volumetric efficiency considering gas exchange process in a reciprocating engine is presented in this paper. The characteristic method is used for solving gas exchange problems of engine system in theoretical studies. The validity of the simulation is investigated by a comparison with the results obtained by the experiment which have been performed on the practical 4-cycle, 4-cylinder gasoline engine. The relationship between the volumetric efficiency and the intake pressure variation according to configuration of intake pipe, position of branch point, valve timing, compression ratio is clarified through simulation and experiment. The results predicted by the simulation are found to be in approximate agreement with those obtained by the experiment.

The knowledge of the nutrition in animal production is difficult to assess due of difficulty to determine the amount and quality of feeds intake, mainly if forages are the most important compound in the diet. It must be able to know responses to the metabolic process in lactating dairy cows earring out feeds evaluation trials. These metabolism studies with cows, requires measurements of: I) The amount of all feeds consumed. II) Excretion of faeces. III) Excretion of urine. Taking as a basis these trials, forage and total intake, dietary digestibility and balances of nitrogen and energy can be calculated. However, these feeds evaluation experiments with animals are very time consuming and expensives. The faeces excreted by animals containt undigested residues of the diet consumed. For this reason, their analysis can be an successful tool to determine the amount and quality of feed intake and other important biological parameters. The aim of this work was to know if faeces analysis by NIR could be used to determine with enough accuracy some attributes of different lactating dairy cows diets, using a global equation, developed on an heterogeneus population. For this purpose a total of 79 faecal samples from eight grass, three grass silages and two maize silages metabolic trials, on six cows each one, were used to constitute the initial population. The calibration equations were developed to predict forage and total intake, organic matter digestibility, digestibility coefficient of crude energy and digestibility energy. The combination of several trials with different diets and animal conditions gave promising results.
Sodium chloride is present in our body fluids, and the blood contains approximately 0.9 wt% salt, which plays an important role in maintaining the osmotic pressure. However, the amount of salt intake has consistently increased, and an excessive intake can be the cause of high blood pressure, etc. In this study, it was investigated in vivo and in vitro whether biocompatible ionic polymers with K or Ca ions can be replaced by Na ions through an ion exchange process to be excreted. Among the polymers, Ca-polystyrene sulfonate, K-polystyrene sulfonate, Ca-carrageenan, and Ca-tamarind had an excellent Na exchange ability in the body temperature, simulated gastric fluid and also simulated intestinal fluid. The mechanism of Na removal by absorption and excretion without changing food taste in the mouth through the insolubility properties of these polymers is expected to be a solution for the current problems related with excess sodium intake.

Big data analysis, in the large amount of data stored as the data warehouse which it refers the process of discovering meaningful new correlations, patterns, trends and creating new values. The important issue of a meta-analysis is not the significance test, the effect size of the predictor variable on the criterion variable. We reviewed a total of 236 samples among 6 studies published on the topic related Collagen intake on skin between 2000 and 2016 in Korea. The results of the study are summarized as follows. First, we concluded that the path between before and after of Sebum (SB) had the largest effect size of (r = .416) Therefore, the effect of the Collagen intake intervention showed an explanatory power of 17 (%) about. Next, the path between before and after of Moisture (MS) had the higher the effect size of (r = .318). Thus, we present the theoretical and practical implications of these results.

This study empirically verified whether aggressive order intake affect occurrence of defects of Korean construction companies. In order to compensate for the shortage of construction costs due to aggressive low-cost orders of contractors, self-response measures such as design changes are followed, and construction defects may be induced in this process. It aims to verify relevance between aggressive order intake and defect in construction empirically using financial accounting data. As a result, it was confirmed that an abnormal increase in order volume and a deterioration in profitability such as operating margin due to aggressive order taking behavior leads to a decrease in construction quality and occurrence of defects. In addition, it was also confirmed that low construction ability and intentional changes in construction design or contract conditions after construction commences were a direct causes of defects. The results of this study can serve as an opportunity to come up with measures to prevent defects by confirming the relationship between defects in construction and deterioration of profitability due to aggressive low-cost order takings.

To assess trans fatty acids (tFAs) intake of a girls' high school students in Pusan, dietary history and quantitative food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) were surveyed and analyzed with a total subjects of 274, 268 in summer and winter respectively. It was shown that 38.0% of subjects which was the highest percentage, had snack twice a day in frequency of snack intake. The most favorite snack of subjects was ice cream (46.4%), the preference for milk and dairy products was considerably high. 43.4% of subjects responded to once a month in frequency of dining out. They preferred grilled pork (39.1%), hamburger (36.9%), grilled beef (26.6%) in order. It was also appeared that they preferred fast food. In the case of eating bread, 8.0% of subjects ate bread and margarine, 7.1% butter. Generally, the subjects preferred margarine to butter. tFAs intake for each person per day was $4.24{\pm}0.18\;g$. There was significant difference in tFAs intake according to parents income (p<0.05), frequency of snack intake (p<0.001) and that of dining out (p<0.05). tFAs intake produced naturally (N-tFAs) was $0.86{\pm}0.00\;g$ which corresponded to 20.3% of total tFAs intake per day. tFAs intake produced artificially (H-tFAs) in the process of hardening oil was $3.38{\pm}0.14\;g$, equaled to 79.7% of total tFAs intake per day. There was significant difference between H-tFAs intake for each person per day (p=0.000)
Oral mucositis or stomatitis produced by stomatotoxic chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy are painful, restrict oral intake and, importantly, act as sites of secondary infection and potals of entry for the endogenous oral microflora often leading to bacteremias or sepsis. A number of clinical observations and studies of animal model suggests a pathophysiological complexity in the development of mucositis. The condition appears to represent a sequential interaction of the oral mucosal cells and tissues, pro-inflammatory cytokines, and local environmental factors in the mouth. This article discussed and reviewed biological process of the mucositis and, the role of cytokines as initiators and amplifiers of the process. The recognition that the pathophysiology of mucositis is a multifactorial process has presented opportunities for intervention based upon biological attenuation.
