구멍들을 가진 표준 CT 시험편 내에서의 크랙 거동에 대한 해석적 연구 (An Analytical Study on Crack Behavior Inside Standard Compact Tension Specimen with Holes)

  • 기계 혹은 구조물의 파손 및 파괴는 소재의 내부에 존재하는 결함에서 발생하는 크랙에 의한 것이다. 이러한 크랙들은 밀집하여 존재하는 경우가 많기 때문에 크랙의 진전 및 성장특성들을 고려하지 않으면 안 된다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 표준 CT 시험편 내부의 크랙 및 구멍의 위치에 따른 파괴특성을 고찰하였으며, 표준CT 시험편에 편심된 집중하중을 가하였을 때, 시험편 내 크랙 주변의 구멍의 존재유무 및 위치에 따른 파괴역학적 거동에 대하여 규명하였다. 연구 결과로서 Model 3(크랙 주변에 구멍이 한 개 존재하는 시험편 모델로서 크랙의 끝부분과 구멍 간의 거리 가로방향으로 2mm의 경우)가 최대 변형량, 최대 응력 및 최대 변형 에너지, 모두 가장 크게 나타났으며, 모든 시험편 모델들이 시험편 내부의 크랙과 구멍의 거리가 가까울수록 최대 응력이 커지는 경향을 보였다. 또한 구멍의 개수와는 별개로 시험편 내부의 크랙 가까이에 구멍이 존재할 때 크랙 가까이에서 최대 응력은 커지는 경향이 나타나는 것을 알 수 있었으며, 이러한 본 연구 결과를 토대로 기계 혹은 기계 구조물 내부에 구멍을 뚫는다면, 시험편에 발생하는 파괴 응력의 값을 줄임으로써 파손이나 고장이 일어나는 것을 방지할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

배기형의 「경주 석굴암 보수공사 설계도」(1961)에 관한 고찰 (On the Plans of Kyongju's Sokkuram Restoration Project (1961) by Pai Ki Hyung)

  • This study examines the restoration project of Sokkuram, and introduces its preliminary plans by the architect Pai Ki Hyung. The restoration project started in 1958 with an inquiry committee of the restoration project, and was completed in 1964. Despite having undergone extensive repair work under Japanese supervision from 1913 and 1923, the repair work caused water leakages inside Sokkuram, and regular cleaning work that began in 1933 caused a lot of damage to the sculpture. In result of the surveys, the top priority of this project was to protect the sculptures inside Sokkuram by improving the environment of the cave. At that time, the architect Mr. Pai participated as a head of the fourth field surveyors to plan the restoration project and to design the preliminary plans. He proposed the installation of a double dome structure to prevent further water leakages on the concrete addition that was built up around the grotto by the Japanese. However, in 1961, the Cultural Heritage Committee of Korea examined the plans of Mr. Pai and immediately rejected them. The factors of the rejection were the omitting of entrance design, system of new double dome structure that presses the existing structure, and these changes that had to be made outside of the drainage plans. The repair work of Sokkuram began in 1961, and the main construction was building double dome structure and entrance installation. In this we realize that Mr. Pai's double dome structure plans were very important key concept of this project. This study attempts to demonstrate the double dome installations that Mr. Pai initially proposed, which ultimately remains as emblematic factors of Sokkuram's legacy.

  • Nonlinear temperature distribution induced by the hydration heat generates thermal stress in mass concrete. At early ages, such thermal stress may induce thermal cracks in the structure which can affect on the durability and safety of the structure. Up to now, a lot of works have focused on the prediction of temperature distribution and thermal stress in the structure. In most of such works, however, the inside of structure was considered as adiabatic state to predict temperature distribution and the thermal stress. And due to the lacks of appropriate analysis models after crack, there was little research on the crack occurrence. This paper deals with the prediction of the temperature distribution in the structure using the rate of hydration heat generation and also estimates the behavior of structure before and after cracking due to hydration heat using crack band model.

온습도 변화에 따른 철도차량 바닥재의 변형 (Deformation of the floor structure of railway vehicle depending on temperature and humidity)

  • The floor structure of railway vehicle can deflect and warp due to variation of temperature and humidity at the inside and outside of vehicle. In this study, its temperature and humidity characteristics was investigated experimentally for beam and plate specimen and numerically for the floor structure assembly. The temperature and humidity characteristics of a part were measured and the deformation and stress distribution of the floor structure were calculated using a commercial software. And the warp deformation of the plywood was measured experimentally. The results show that the temperature and humidity effects on the floor structure are the important factor to decide the strength and the quality of the floor structure of railway vehicles.

  • The waste ammunitions have been accumulated in excessive amounts these days. This study focused on the problems related to the method of ammunition disposal which leads the explosion inside the enclosure structure and controls the effects of detonation. This study enables us to design a new type of explosive disposal facilities that would fit to our environments. And this study gives us the prototype design of the explosive disposal structure that are explored in this research and will give us a chance to develop a new type structure that have not been devised by Army, and also will be applicable to construct a civilian explosive disposal structure located in airports, harbors, and public facilities.

Soil interaction effects on sloshing response of the elevated tanks

  • The aim of this paper is to investigate how the soil-structure interaction affects sloshing response of the elevated tanks. For this purpose, the elevated tanks with two different types of supporting systems which are built on six different soil profiles are analyzed for both embedded and surface foundation cases. Thus, considering these six different profiles described in well-known earthquake codes as supporting medium, a series of transient analysis have been performed to assess the effect of both fluid sloshing and soil-structure interaction (SSI). Fluid-Elevated Tank-Soil/Foundation systems are modeled with the finite element (FE) technique. In these models fluid-structure interaction is taken into account by implementing Lagrangian fluid FE approximation into the general purpose structural analysis computer code ANSYS. A 3-D FE model with viscous boundary is used in the analyses of elevated tanks-soil/foundation interaction. Formed models are analyzed for embedment and no embedment cases. Finally results from analyses showed that the soil-structure interaction and the structural properties of supporting system for the elevated tanks affected the sloshing response of the fluid inside the vessel.

  • Internal running noise of a vehicle running in open field is the summation of air borne noise and structure-borne noise. In this paper vibration damping characteristics of carbody are investigated to see the effect of sound-deadening paint on the internal running noise. By using SEA method, vibration levels of complete train with and without sound-deadening paint are estimated and structure borne noise levels are estimated.

  • There are many risks in constructing tunnel-structure. To prevent these risks from occurring and secure safety, the precise and rapid survey of inside displacement of the tunnel is required. But nowadays the measurement of the crown settlement, convergency, and surface settlement depends on general kinds of method which use total station or level. In the way to provide data about maintaining structure according to recent improvement and progress of measuring technology, 3D laser scanning is used. It solves the problem of reliability in measuring displacement of existing structure, provides material that enables to estimate shape change of structure visually, and makes it possible to deliberate speedy countermeasure. By this three dimensioning it is possible to make efficient use of structure maintenance and field measurement

  • It is necessary to the development of the best maintenance system for applying the long-term maintenance plan using the cost breakdown structure in the educational facilities. This study developed the cost breakdown structure for the best maintenance system using the delphi method. For the convenience of maintenance, the maintenance cost breakdown structures are separated into building exterior wall, building inside wall, electric installation, heating installation and outdoor facilities. And these results atomized in each parts. And this study constructed the cost breakdown structure to maintenance's practicality and effectiveness through the expert analysis.
