  • In this paper, we suggest a new method of detecting human skin-color regions from three-dimensional static or dynamic stereoscopic images by effectively integrating depth and color features. The suggested method first extracts depth information that represents the distance between a camera and an object from input left and right stereoscopic images through a stereo matching technique. It then performs labeling for pixels with similar depth features and determines the labeled regions having human skin color as actual skin color regions. Our experimental results show that the suggested skin region extraction method outperforms existing skin detection methods in terms of skin-color region extraction accuracy.

  • This paper presents a panorama background generation and object tracking technique using a Pan-Tilt-Zoom camera. The proposed method estimates local motion vectors rapidly using phase correlation matching at the prespecified multiple local regions, and it makes minimized estimation error by vector quantization. We obtain the required image patches, by estimating the overlapped region using local motion vectors, we can then project the images to cylinder and realign the images to make the panoramic image. The object tracking is performed by extracting object's motion and by separating foreground from input image using background subtraction. The proposed PTZ-based object tracking method can efficiently generated a stable panorama background, which covers up to 360 degree FOV The proposed algorithm is designed for real-time implementation and it can be applied to many commercial applications such as object shape detection and face recognition in various surveillance video systems.

  • Background: It has been proposed that proprioceptive input can modulate neural excitability in both primary motor cortices (M1) simultaneously, although direct evidence for this is still lacking. Previous studies showed that proprioceptive accuracy of one hand is reduced after the application of one-Hz repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) for 15 minutes over the contralateral somatosensory cortex. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of rTMS-induced central proprioceptive deafferentation to excitability of both M1 as reflected in ipsilateral and contralateral motor evoked potentials (MEP). Methods: MEPs of both abductor pollicis bravis (APB) muscles were recorded using single-pulse TMS over right M1 in seven healthy subjects. Immediately after one-Hz rTMS was applied for 15 minutes over the right somatosensory cortex, the MEP measurement was repeated. The proprioceptive function of the left thumb was assessed, before and after rTMS, using a position-matching task. Results: There was an increase in ipsilateral MEP after the rTMS: whereas no MEPs were recorded on the ipsilateral hand before the rTMS, MEPs were recorded in both ipsilateral and contralateral hand in three of seven subjects. At the same time, the mean log amplitude was reduced and the mean latency was prolonged in the contralateral MEP. Conclusions: rTMS-induced central proprioceptive deafferentation reduces the MEP generation in the contralateral hand, and fascilitates that in the ipsilateral hand. A further study with a larger sample seems warranted to confirm this finding and to elucidate the neurophysiology underlying it.

  • In this paper, we propose a Fuzzy Classifier System(FCS) makes the classifier system be able to carry out the mapping from continuous inputs to outputs. The FCS is based on the fuzzy controller system combined with machine learning. Therefore the antecedent and consequent of a classifier in FCS are the same as those of a fuzzy rule. In this paper, the FCS modifies input message to fuzzified message and stores those in the message list. The FCS constructs rule-base through matching between messages of message list and classifiers of fuzzy classifier list. The FCS verifies the effectiveness of classifiers using Bucket Brigade algorithm. Also the FCS employs the Genetic Algorithms to generate new rules and modify rules when performance of the system needs to be improved. Then the FCS finds the set of the effective rules. We will verify the effectiveness of the poposed FCS by applying it to Autonomous Mobile Robot avoiding the obstacle and reaching the goal.

  • Generating an epipolar image which is removed a y-parallax from an original image is an essential technique for creating a 3D stereoscopic model or producing a map. In epipolar image production, there is a method of generating epipolar images by estimating the relative orientation parameters after matching the extracted distinct points in two images and a method of generating epipolar images by using the baseline and rotation angles of the two images after determining the exterior orientation parameters In this study, it was proposed a methodology to generate epipolar images using direction cosine in the exterior orientation parameters of the input images, and a method to use the transformation matrix for easy calculation when converting from the original image to the epipolar image. The applicability of the proposed methodology was evaluated by using images taken from the fixed wing and rotary wing drones. As a result, it was found that epipolar images were generated regardless of the type of drones.

  • A turnstile antenna using the parasitic monopole has been developed for STSAT-2 TT&C application. The antenna consists of two radiating elements; a bow-tie dipole and a parasitic monopole. The bow-tie dipole is main radiating element, used a bow-tie structure for bandwidth improvement and size reduction. The parasitic monopole improved beamwidth and axial ratio. The input impedance of the antenna is about 50 ohm without a matching circuit. The proposed antenna has beamwidth of $>140^{\circ}$, axial ratio of < 3 dB and VSWR of < 1.5 in the band of $2.075{\sim}2.282GHz$.

  • This paper presents a design and fabrication of Ku-band power amplifier using Gallium Nitride High Electron Mobility Transistor (GaN HEMT) die. In order to fabricate the low-cost Ku-band power amplifier, a Printed Circuit Board(PCB) was used for input/output matching circuits instead of manufacturing process to use an expensive substrate. The measured output power is 42.6 dBm, the drain efficiency is 37.7 % and the linear gain is 7.9 dB under pulse operation at the frequency of 14.8 GHz. Under the continuous wave(CW) test, the output power is 39.8 dBm, the drain efficiency is 24.1 % and the linear gain is 7.2 dB.

  • Image warping is a technology to transform input images to be suitable for given conditions and has been recently utilized in changing face shape of characters in the field of movies or animation. Mesh warping which is one of warping methods that change shapes based on the features of face forms warping images by forming rectangular mesh groups around the eyes, nose, and mouth and matching them 1:1. This method has a problem in the resultant images are distorted in the segments of boundaries between meshes when there are errors in mesh control points or when meshes have been formed as many small area meshes. This study proposes a triangle based image interpolation technique to minimize the occurrence of errors in the process of forming natural warping images of face and process accurate results with a small amount of arithmetic operation and a short time. First, feature points that represent the face are found and these points are connected to form basic triangle meshes. The fact that the proposed method can reduce errors occurring in the process of warping while reducing the amount of arithmetic operation and time is shown through experiments.

  • The effect of the reflector type for the SAW filter on the characteristics of the slanted finger IDT filter have been studied by computer simulation. The IDT was evaporated by Aluminum-Copper alloy. The design condition was optimized by the phase shift of the SAWfilter for WCDMA. We have employed that the number of pairs of the input and output IDT are 50 pairs and the thickness are $5,000{\AA}$, and the width and the space of reflector are $3.6{\mu}m$ and $2.0{\mu}m$, respectively. Frequency response of the fabricated SFIT filter has the property that the center frequency is about 190MHz and bandwidth at the 3dB is probably 8.2MHz. And we could obtain that the return loss is less then 16dB, the ripple characteristics is probably 4dB and the triple transit echo is less then 18dB after when we have matched impedance.
