산화철과 환원철이 인삼의 갈반형 황증 발생에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Ferric and Ferrous Iron Irrigation on Brown-Colored Symptom of Leaf in Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer)

  • To study the cause of physiological disorder in leaf of ginseng cultivated at paddy soil, the degree of brown-colored symptom (BCS) and the contents of inorganic matter in leaf were investigated by irrigating the solution of ferric and ferrous iron of 0.1 ~ 2.0%, and citric acid of 1.0 ~ 4.0% on bed soil, respectively. Ratio of BCS by variety was as high as 85.0% in Yoenpoong, while it was as low as 5.4%, 7.5% in Chunpoong and Hwangsook, respectively. The contents of inorganic matter of leaf in Yoenpoong were lower in $P_2O_5$, Ca, and Mg, while it were higher in K, Fe, and Mn than other variety. Iron solution caused BCS more distinctly when each ferric and ferrous iron were dissolved with 1.0% citric acid than when each iron was dissolved without citric acid. Ferric iron caused BCS more effectively than ferrous iron. BCS occurred in 4.0% citric acid was as same as 2.0% ferric iron mixed with 1.0% citric acid. Low $P_2O_5$ and high Fe content in leaf appeared in both of artificial and natural symptoms. We concluded that excessive Fe uptake caused BCS to leaf because the solubility of iron was increased in condition of low soil pH.

하수슬러지의 퇴비화과정 중 이화학성 및 미생물상 변동 (Changes of the Physico-Chemical and Microbiological Properties during Composting for Composting of Sewage Sludge)

  • 하수슬러지를 퇴비화하여 농지이용가능성을 조사하기 위하여 하수슬러지에 수분조절제로 톱밥 또는 왕겨를 처리하여 퇴비화과정중 무기성분변화, 유기물 및 질소의 형태변화, 미생물종 및 개체수의 변화 등의 물질변화를 조사하였으며, 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 퇴비화과정중 온도 및 $CO_2$발생량은 퇴비화 2일에 최고에 달하였으며 그후 감소하였다. C/N율은 퇴비화가 진행됨에 따라 약간 증가하는 경향이었고, pH는 퇴비화 1일까지는 큰 변화가 없었으나, 그후 2일까지 급격히 증가하였으며 그후부터는 pH 약 8.4${\sim}$8.6 범위를 유지하였다. 퇴비화과정중 $P_2O,\;K_2O$, CaO, MgO 및 Fe함량 약간 증가하였으나,$SO_4$ 및 Mn은 퇴비화 초기에 비하여 후기에 각각 약 253${\sim}$331% 및 191${\sim}$208% 큰 폭으로 증가되었다. 퇴비화과정중 ether추출물질, 수용성 polysaccharides, hemicellulose 및 cellulose는 감소하였고, resins 및 lignin은 큰 변화가 없었다. 퇴비화과정중 총질소 및 유기태질소는 각각 약 15${\sim}$20% 및 22${\sim}$35% 감소하였으며, 무기태질소는 약 75${\sim}$166% 증가하였다. 퇴비화과정중 미생물 수는 미생물종 및 퇴비화기간에 따라 변화가 심하였다.

Alfalfa 근류균접종제 생산 및 이용에 관한 연구 I. 근류균제 생산을 위한 담체제조 및 선발 (Studies on the Production and Utilization of Rhizobium Inoculants for Alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) I. Preparation and seletion of carriers for Rhizobium inoculants)

  • To select a carrier as Rhizobiwn inoculants for alfalfa, severeal Rhizobium inoculants were produced by adding or not sub-materials($CaCO_3$ and sucrose) to main materials(organic or inorganic materials). The root nodule bacteria, Rhizobium meliloti 1061 distributed from KAIST, and Vemal alfalfa was used in this experiment. The Rhizobium populations and inoculation effects of the Rhizobium inoculants produced in several materials were scrutinized at laboratory and greenhouse in Livestock Experiment Station, RDA from 1993 to 1994. Moisture contents of the caniers were varied from 32 to 50% on dry weight basis according to material characteristics and the pH ranges of these were varied from pH 4.56 to 10.06 according to raw material characteristics and preparations. Initial Rhizobium numbers of the carriers were higher in organic material-inoculants than in inorganic, and among the inoculants, the inoculant made of Bentonite+Vermiculite(l:3 w/w) was excellent because of high rhizobium population($7.8~8.3\times10^8/g$ inoculant) and high rhizobium reappearance of inoculant in severed different production time. The root nodules of the alfalfa inoculated with different inoculants were fast formed in the fermented sawdust with cattle dung (FSC) inoculant, and bentonite(B)+vermiculite(V) than others. Plant length of alfalfa was differentiated on 15 days after inoculation but was not nearly different between higher inoculants than rhizobium number $10^7/g$ inoculant. Total dry matter of alfalfa was yielded by 20.65, 20.34mg per pot in FSC + sucrose 0.5% and B + V + sucrose 1% inoculants respectively that were higher inoculation effect by 17 times compared with non-inoculation, 1.2 mg per pot.

인삼 논재배에서 황증이 발생한 토양과 식물체의 무기성분 함량 특성 (Soil Chemical Property and Leaf Mineral Nutrient of Ginseng Cultivated in Paddy Field Occurring Leaf Discoloration)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the cause of leaf discoloration occurring frequently in paddy cultivation. Chemical property of soil and inorganic nutrient component of leaf were analyzed on abnormal fields of 7 regions where leaf discoloration occurred severely and normal fields of 7 regions among ginseng garden. The pH of abnormal fields was strong acidic condition (pH 5.51) compare to normal fields of slightly acid condition (pH 6.42). Calcium and magnesium content in abnormal fields were lower distinctly than that of normal fields, while EC, organic matter, phosphate, and potassium content showed not distinct difference between abnormal and normal fields. Whereas calcium and magnesium content were distinctly high in normal fields, both of potassium and iron content of ginseng leaf were distinctly high in abnormal fields. In particular, iron content of abnormal fields was more 1.94 times in soil, and 3.03 times in leaf than that of normal fields. In soil chemical property, there were significant negative correlation between leaf discoloration ratio and soil pH, and there were also significant positive correlation between leaf discoloration ratio and iron content. In ginseng leaf, there were highly significant negative correlation between leaf discoloration ratio and calcium content, and there were also highly significant positive correlation between leaf discoloration ratio and iron content.

Phytase 첨가가 산란계의 체내 영양소 균형 및 생산성에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Phytase Supplementation on Nutrient Balance and Production of Laying Hens)

  • Two experiments were carried out to evaluate the effects of adding phytase on nutrient availability and serum Ca and P level and to determine the effects of phytase on laying performance and egg quality in laying hens. In Exp. 1, twenty four laying hens(1.9kg average body weight and 78.4% egg production) were allotted to four treatments. Treatments included 1) corn-soybean meal based-control diet and 2), 3) and 4) control diet with phytase 200, 400 and 600 unit/kg, respectively. There were no significant effects of treatments on dry matter and nitrogen digestibility(P〉0.05). Ash, Ca and P digestibility in layer fed diet with phytase were greater than those in layer fed control diet(P〈0.05). Laying hens fed diets with phytase 200 and 400 unit retained more Ca than those fed other treatments (P〈0.05). No statistical difference was found for Ca exsretion(P〉0.05). P retention was greater for laying hens fed diet phytase 600 unit than other treaments(P〈0.05). P level in serum was higher for laying hens fed diets with phytase 400 and 600 unit than for laying hens fed other treatments. In Exp. 2, three hundred, IAS Brown layer, 40-week-old, divided into two treatment groups(control vs phytase supplementation without inorganic phosphate in the diets) with five replications per treatment and 30 layers per replication were fed the diets for 6 weeks. Egg production, egg weight and eggshell breaking strength and thickness were not different significantly(P〉0.05). In conclusion, phytase supplementation can be used to increase P utilization and retention in laying hens. Also, phytase supplementation was effective to spare inorganic phosphate in laying hen diets without any adverse effects on production performances.

폐하수슬러지 퇴비 시용이 토양의 화학성 및 옥수수의 생육에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Municipal Sewage and Industrial Wastewater Sludge Composts on Chemical Properties of Soil and Growth of Corn Plant)

  • 하수 및 공단폐수슬러지의 농지이용가능성을 구명하기 위하여 이들 슬러지를 주 원료로 하여 생산된 퇴비를 토양에 시용하여 옥수수를 재배함으로써 시기별 토양중 화학적 특성변화, 중금속 함량 변화, 작물생육상황, 식물체 부위별 무기성분 흡수량 및 중금속 함량 등을 조사하였으며 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 퇴비 시용으로 토양중 유기물, 질소, 인산 및 카리 함량이 증가되었고, 토양중 중금속 함량도 증가되었으나 매우 미미한 증가였으며 규제 농도에 훨씬 못 미치는 농도였다. 옥수수의 생체중은 각 퇴비구 및 삼요소+ 각 퇴비구가 삼요소구에 비하여 각각 약 $9{\sim}19%$$60{\sim}79%$ 증가하였다. 퇴비시용구가 삼요소구에 비하여 옥수수의 잎 및 줄기에서 질소, 인산, 카리, 석회 및 고토의 흡수량이 증가되었다.

순천만 갈대군락의 면적 증가와 저토의 이화학적 특성 (Chemical Properties of Sediment and Increase of Reed (Phragmites australis) Stands at Suncheon Bay)

  • 순천만에서 갈대군락이 저토의 이화학적 특성에 미치는 영향과 갈대군락의 증가형태를 파악하기 위해 1999년과 2000년에 갈대군락의 폭을 측정하고 2007년에 갈대군락의 형성정도에 따라 3개 지역을 선정하여 깊이별 저토의 수분함량, 염분농도, 유기물함량, 황함량, 질소함량, 탄소함량 및 수소함량을 조사하였다. 갈대군락의 유무와 관계없이 육지와 멀리 격리되어 있을수록, 수로와 가까이 있을수록 저토 내 수분함량이 많고 염분도가 높았다. 또한 표층의 유기물함량은 갈대의 현존량과 비례하였지만 하층의 것은 오래된 갈대군락에서 오히려 낮았다. 황함량은 나지(0.23%)나 근래에 형성된 갈대군락(0.21%)보다 오래된 갈대군락(0.33%)에서 높았고, 탄소, 질소 및 수소의 함량은 표층에서 현저히 높고 하층에서 낮아 대체로는 유기물함량과 유사한 경향성을 보였지만 하층으로 감에 따라 감소하거나 증가하는 경향은 일치하지 않았다. 갈대군락 폭의 증가는 1999년에 $2.33{\pm}0.73m$, 2000년에 $3.65{\pm}1.64m$이었으며 연도에 따라, 군락에 따라, 방향에 따라 다양하여 일정한 경향성이 없었다. 이러한 갈대군락의 증가 특성에 의해 시간의 경과에 따라 전체적으로 원형의 군락을 이루는 것으로 생각되었다. 매해 증가한 지역에서 갈대의 밀도와 초장은 가장자리로 갈수록 감소하였다. 또한 하나의 군락에서 밀도는 방향(육지 혹은 해양)에 따른 경향성은 없었으나 초장은 북쪽 혹은 육지방향이 남쪽 혹은 해양방향보다 작은 것으로 나타났다.

Short-term effects of elevated CO2 on periphyton community in an artificially constructed channel

  • Background: Direct impact of inorganic carbon (i.e., carbon dioxide ($CO_2$)) on the periphyton community is important to understand how and to what extent atmospheric conditions can affect the structure and dynamics of these communities in lotic systems. We investigated the influence of elevated $CO_2$ concentration on the periphyton community in the artificially constructed channels during the winter period. The channels made of acrylic paneling were continuously supplied with surface water discharged from a small reservoir, which was supported with ground water, at a flow rate of 5 L/min, and water temperature ranging $4-5^{\circ}C$. The effects of elevated $CO_2$ concentrations (790 ppm) were evaluated in comparison with the control (395 ppm $CO_2$) by analyzing pH, water carbon content and nutrients in water, periphyton composition and biomass, chlorophyll-a, ash-free dry-matter at 2-day intervals for 10 days. Results: After the addition of $CO_2$, significant decreases of pH, $NH_3-N$, and $PO_4-P$ (p < 0.05) and increases of chlorophyll-a, ash-free dry-matter, and the cell density of periphyton (p < 0.01) were observed, whereas the species composition of periphyton and water carbon content did not change. Conclusions: These results suggest that elevated $CO_2$ in flowing water system with low temperature could facilitate the growth of periphyton resulting in biomass increase, which could further influence water quality and the consumers throughout the food web.

아산만의 영양염 및 입자성 유기물 (Nutrients and Particulate Organic Matter in Asan Bay)

  • 아산만에서 영양염 및 입자성 유기물의 계절적 변화를 조사하였다. 영양염은 8월에 높고 2월에 낮았으며 무기 질소와 인산 인의 원자비는 5월의 24.8을 제외 하고는 Redfield ratio와 유사하였다. 5월에 인산 인을 제외한 다른 영양염들은 염분이 $31.5{\sim}32.0\%0$까지는 염분이 증가할수록 감소하였으나 그 후 다시 증가하여 하구 내에서 영양염 공급이 있음을 시사해주고 있다. 그러나 8월의 조사에서 영양염과 염분이 좋은 역상관 관계는 이 시기에 영양염 공급원이 담수 유입으로 추정된다. chlorophyll a 농도는 5월에 최대이었고 조사시기 동안 Rb/Ra(Rb: fluorescence before acidification, Ra: fluorescence after acidification) 비가 비교적 낮아 조사해역의 식물플랑크톤이 생리적으로 성장하기에 나쁜 환경에 있는 것으로 사료된다. 입자성 유기 규소(PBSi)와 입자성 유기탄소(POC)의 비가 낮고 PBSi/chlorophyll a 비 및 POC/chlorophyll a 비가 상대적으로 높아 아산만에서 저층으로부터 많은 non-living detritus의 공급이 있는 것으로 판단된다.

Impact of Dust Transported from China on Air Quality in Korea -Characteristics of PM2.5 Concentrations and Metallic Elements in Asan and Seoul, Korea

  • [ $PM_{2.5}$ ], particulate matter less than 2.5 um in a diameter, can penetrate deeply into the lungs. Exposure to $PM_{2.5}$ has been associated with increased hospital visits for respiratory aliments as well as increase mortality. $PM_{2.5}$ is a byproduct of combustion processes and as such has a complex composition including a variety of metallic elements, inorganic and organic compounds as well as biogenic materials (microorganisms, proteins, etc). In this study, the average concentrations of fine particulates $PM_{2.5}$ have been measured simultaneously in Asan and Seoul, Korea, by using particulate matter portable sampler from September 2001 to August 2002. Sample collection filters were analyzed by ICP-OES to determine the concentrations of metallic elements (As, Ni, Fe, Cr, Cd, Cu, Pb, Zn, Si). Annual mean $PM_{2.5}$ concentrations in Asan and Seoul were 37.70 and $45.83\;{\mu}g/m^3$, respectively. The highest concentrations of $PM_{2.5}$ were found in spring season in both cities and the concentrations of measured metallic elements except As in Asan were higher than those in Seoul, suggesting that yellow dust in spring could affect $PM_{2.5}$ concentrations in Asan rather than Seoul. The correlation coefficients of Pb and Zn were 0.343 for Asan and 0.813 for Seoul during non-yellow dust condition, suggesting that Pb and Zn were influenced with the same sources. The correlation coefficients between Si and Fe in the fine particulate mode were 0.999 (Asan) and 0.998 (Seoul) during yellow dust condition. It was suggested that these two elements were impacted by soil-related transport from China during the yellow dust storm condition.
