Organic-Inorganic Hybrid Thermoelectric Material Synthesis and Properties

  • Organic-inorganic hybrid thermoelectric materials have obtained increasing attention because it opens the possibility of enhancing thermoelectric performance by utilizing the low thermal conductivity of organic thermoelectric materials and the high Seebeck coefficient of inorganic thermoelectric materials. Moreover, the organic-inorganic hybrid thermoelectric materials possess numerous advantages, including functional aspects such as flexibility or transparency, low cost raw materials, and simplified fabrication processes, thus, allowing for a wide range of potential applications. In this study, the types and synthesis methods of organic-inorganic thermoelectric hybrid materials were discussed along with the methods used to enhance their thermoelectric properties. As a key factor to maximize the thermoelectric performances of hybrid thermoelectric materials, the nanoengineering to control the nanostructure of the inorganic materials as well as the modification of the organic material structure and doping level are considered, respectively. Meanwhile, the interface between the inorganic and organic phase is also important to develop the hybrid thermoelectric module with excellent reliability and high thermoelectric efficiency in addition to its performance in various electronic devices.

액상 돈분 발효조에서 폭기량과 돈분온도가 인의 형태 변환에 미치는 영향 (Influences of Aeration Rate and Manure Temperature on Phosphorus Transformation in Swine Liquid Manure Bioreactor)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the influences of aeration rates and temperatures on phosphorus transformation in the manure during treatment of swine manure in 15.3L batch reactor. The total phosphorus of raw manure was composed of $91.5\%$ of inorganic phosphorus and $8.5\%$ of organic phosphorus. During the experiment, inorganic phosphorus decreased from $91.5\%\;(385.7\;mg/L)\;to\;25.8-42.7\%\;(108.8-179.8\;mg/L)$ while organic phosphorus increased from $8.5\%\;(35.6\;mg/L)\;to\;57.3-74.2\%\;(241.5-312.5\;mg/L)$. The organic phosphorus was increased by the possible transformation of soluble inorganic phosphorus to poly-phosphate by the microbial uptake. However, soluble inorganic phosphorus was not decreased much during the experiment because the insoluble inorganic phosphorus was transferred to soluble inorganic phosphorus offsetting the microbial uptake. There was no significant difference in soluble inorganic proportion variance during the experiment among treatments for three liquid temperatures and three aeration levels. In terms of phosphorus transformation in the manure and energy consumption required for aeration, lower aeration was desirable fur the manure treatment.

콘크리트용 무기계 방수제의 침투깊이 측정방법에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Penetration Depth Measurement Methods of Inorganic Waterproofing Agent for Concrete)

  • 콘크리트용 무기계 방수제는 내부 막을 형성하지 않기 때문에 무기계 방수제의 침투깊이 정량적으로 평가하기 어렵다. 그러나 무기계 방수제의 침투깊이 평가는 일관된 침투효율을 확보하는데 있어서 매우 중요한 평가지표 중 하나이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 콘크리트용 무기계 방수제의 침투깊이 측정방법을 고안하였으며, 고안된 침투깊이 측정방법을 통하여 기존 무기계 방수제의 침투깊이를 평가하였다. 실험결과 고안된 무기계 방수제의 침투깊이 측정방법을 통하여 평가된 침투깊이는 90% 이상의 신뢰성이 있는 것으로 나타났다.

천연 황색안료 염색한지의 패션소재 적용 가능성 평가에 관한 연구 (Properties of Hanji with natural pigment dyeing for use as a fashion material)

  • This study analyzes and compares Hanji made with loess to Hanji made with kaolin, two yellow-based inorganic pigments, in terms of its physical properties, optical properties, and color fastness to light with the aim of using it as a fashion material. Hanji made by adding inorganic pigments showed an approximately 20% retention ratio on average. This figure was similar to those of loess and kaolin. Physical properties were analyzed, with the following results. A higher amount of additives lowered the apparent density and increased thickness and bulk. In general, inorganic pigment-added Hanji had lower tensile strength, bursting strength, and folding endurance compared to non-additive Hanji. The analysis of optical properties showed a lower brightness index for Hanji made with inorganic pigments compared to non-additive Hanji. When comparing the two inorganic pigments, the brightness of Hanji made with kaolin was higher. Regarding color fastness to light, loess showed level 4 and kaolin showed level 5 when 25% inorganic pigments on pulp were added to Hanji. Thus, Hanji made by adding inorganic pigments during the manufacturing process may perform well as materials for fashion because the additives enhanced both the color fastness to light and the bulk while maintaining the strength. In addition, Hanji dyed with inorganic pigments may have the potential to serve as materials for the fashion industry while still retaining the characteristics of Hanji.

무기물을 첨가한 기능성 한지의 특성 (Physical Properties of Functional Hanji Added Inorganic Marerials)

  • Functional hanji was manufactured using the bast fiber of Broussonetia kazinoki and various inorganic compounds such as kaolin, talc, elvan, and ocher, and the physical and optical properties were investigated. The residual percentages of kaolin, talc, elvan and ocher in the functional hanji were above 50%. The density of the hanji increased with the increase of the content of inorganic compounds. The hanji manufactured using ocher showed the highest density. The breaking length and burst factor decreased with the increase of inorganic materials, indicating that physical properties of hanji were not improved by adding inorganic materials. The emission rates of far-infrared radiation increased in the hanji manufactured using inorganic materials. The higher emission rates were observed in the hanji with elvan or ocher. Addition of inorganic compounds to hanji showed the flame retardative effect. The colorfastness to light of the hanji with elvan or ocher was the degree of 4, which explained by the characteristic color of the inorganics.

Magnetite와 무기성 슬러지의 이산화탄소 분해 특성 (Decomposition Characteristics of Carbon Dioxide Using Magnetite and Inorganic Sludge)

  • Magnetite and inorganic sludge were mainly composed of $Fe_2O_4$ and $Fe_2O_3$, respectively. Initial specific surface areas of magnetite and inorganic sludge were 130 $m^2$/g and 31.7 $m^2$/g. $CO_2$ decomposition rate for inorganic sludge was increased with temperature. Maximum $CO_2$ decomposition rates were shown 89% for magnetite at $350^{\circ}C$ and 84% for inorganic sludge at $500^{\circ}C$. Specific surface area for magnetite was not varied significantly after $CO_2$ decomposition. However, specific surface area for inorganic sludge was greatly decreased from initial 130 $m^2$/g to approximately 50~60 $m^2$/g after reaction. Therefore, it was estimated that magnetite could be used for $CO_2$decomposition for a long time and inorganic sludge should be wasted after $CO_2$ decomposition reaction.
