파일럿 분사시기에 따른 DME 부분 예혼합 압축착화 엔진의 연소 및 배기특성에 관한 연구 (An Investigation about Combustion and Emission Characteristics for Pilot Injection Timing on Partially Premixed Charge Combustion Ignition Engine Fueled with DME)

  • This work investigated the effects of engine speed and injection timing on combustion and emissions characteristics in a partially premixed charge compression ignition (pPCCI) engine fueled with DME. pPCCI engine especially has potential to achieve more homogeneous mixture in the cylinder, which results in lower NOx and smoke emission. In this study single cylinder engine was equipped with common rail and injection pressure is 700 bar. Total injected fuel mass is 64.5 $mm^3$ per cycle. The amount of pilot injection of the entire injection 12.5% is tested. Results show that NOx emission is decreased while IMEP is increased as the retard of injection timing. Besides, NOx emissions are slightly rised as well as IMEP is increased with the increase of engine speed.

Improved Electron Injection on Organic Light-emitting Diodes with an Organic Electron Injection Layer

  • To overcome of poor electron injection in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) with Al cathode, a thin layer of inorganic insulating materials, like as LiF, is inserted between an Al cathode and an organic electron transport layer. Though the device, mentioned above, improves both turn on voltage and luminescent properties, it has some problems like as thickness restriction, less than 2 nm, and difficulty of deposition control. On the other hand, Li organic complex, Liq, is less thickness restrictive and easy to deposit and it also enhances the performance of devices. This paper reports the improved electron injection on OLEDs with another I A group metal complex, Potassium quinolate (Kq), as an electron injection material. OLEDs with organic complexes showed improved turn-on voltage and luminous efficiency which are remarkably improved compared to OLEDs with Al cathode. Especially, OLEDs with Kq have longer life time than OLEDs with Liq.

Effect of Air Velocity on Combustion Characteristics Scale Burner

  • This paper presents the combustion characteristics of hydrocarbon fuel from a conventional pressureswirl nozzle of a small-scale burner. The nozzle has orifice diameters of 0.256 mm and liquid flow rates raging from 50 to 64 mL/min were selected for the experiments. The furnace temperature distribution along the axial distance, the gas emission such as CO, $CO_2,\;NOx,\;S0_2,$ flue gas temperature, and combustion efficiency were studied. The local furnace and flue gas temperatures decreased with an increase in air velocity. At injection pressures of 1.1 and 1.3 MPa the maximum furnace temperatures occurred closer to the burner exit, at an axial distance of 242 mm from the diffuser tip. The CO and $CO_2$ concentrations decreased with an increase in air velocity, but they increased with an increase in injection pressure. The effect of air velocity on NOx was not clearly seen at low injection pressures, but at injection pressure of 1.3 MPa it decreased with an increase in air velocity. The effect of air velocity $SO_2$ concentration level is not well understood. The combustion efficiency decreased with an increase in air velocity but it increased with an increase in injection pressure. It is recommended that injection pressure less than 0.9 MPa with air velocity not above 8.0 m/s would be suitable for this burner.

Diesel기관의 연소에 의한 열발생율의 연구 (STUDY ON HEAT RELEASE RATE BY COMBUSTION IN DIESEL ENGINE)

  • Diesel 기관의 연소는 매우 복잡한 현상이다. 이 복잡한 연소과정을 각운전조건하에서 구한 열발생율에 의해 해석했으며 그 결과 다음 사항이 밝혀졌다. 1. Diesel기관의 연소기간은 예혼합기연소기관과 황산연소기관으로 나누어 생각할 수 있다. 2. 예혼합기연소부분이 클수록 효율은 양호하나 최고압력이 높아져 정숙한 운전이 되지 못하고 확산연소기간이 길수록 운전은 정숙하나 효율은 떨어지고 배기온도는 상승한다. 3. 예혼합기 연소부분은 주로 발화지연에 지배되나 확산연소기간은 산소의 확산에 지배된다. 4. 실험범위내에서 기관의 효율은 분사량과 회전수가 일정하면 분사시기가 빠를수록 효율은 증가했으나 압력의 상승은 효율의 증가보다 높았다.

  • In the present study, reduction of harmful exhaust gas in a diesel engine using stratified injection system of dual fuel (diesel fuel and methanol) was tried. The nozzle and fuel injection pump of conventional injection system were remodeled to inject dual fuel in order from the same injector. The quantity of each fuel was controlled by micrometers, which were mounted at rack of injection pumps. The injection ratio of dual fuel was certificated by volumetric ratio in injection quantity test. Cylinder pressure and exhaust gas were measured and analyzed under various supply condition of duel fuel. We confirmed that combustion of dual fuel was performed successful1y by using modified injection system in a D.I. diesel. Soot and NOx are simultaneously reduced by stratified injection without large deterioration of thermal efficiency, but THC and CO are relatively increased.

Improvement of the luminous efficiency of organic light emitting diode using LiF anode buffer layer

  • The multilayer structure of the organic light emitting diode has merits of improving interfacial characteristics and helping carriers inject into emission layer and transport easier. There are many reports to control hole injection from anode electrode by using transition metal oxide as an anode buffer layer, such as V2O5, MoO3, NiO, and Fe3O4. In this study, we apply thin films of LiF which is usually inserted as a thin buffer layer between electron transport layer(ETL) and cathode, as an anode buffer layer to reduce the hole injection barrier height from ITO. The thickness of LiF as an anode buffer layer is tested from 0 nm to 1.0 nm. As shown in the figure 1 and 2, the luminous efficiency versus current density is improved by LiF anode buffer layer, and the threshold voltage is reduced when LiF buffer layer is increased up to 0.6 nm then the device does not work when LiF thickness is close to 1.0 nm As a result, we can confirm that the thin layer of LiF, about 0.6 nm, as an anode buffer reduces the hole injection barrier height from ITO, and this results the improved luminous efficiency. This study shows that LiF can be used as an anode buffer layer for improved hole injection as well as cathode buffer layer.

굴 폐각을 적용한 슬러지 탈수 및 탈수효율 개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Improvement of Sludge Dewatering and Dewatering Efficiency by Using Oyster Shell)

  • This study evaluated the dewatering efficiency of inorganic dehydrating agents that contain oyster shells. A filter press dehydrator was used for this study. The experiments were performed by the single injection of calcium-based chemicals, the single injection of oyster shells, and the mixed injection of oyster shells and calcium-based chemicals. The moisture content of the dewatered cake generated after dehydration confirmed that the best dewatering efficiency was found at the mixing ratios of CaCO3 to sludge, oyster shell to sludge, and inorganic dehydrating agent to sludge of 3:1, 10:1, and 1.5:2.5:1, respectively. The moisture contents exhibited less than 58% when the injection mixing ratio of inorganic dehydrating agent to sludge was 1.5:2.5:1. From EPS, SEM, and EDX analysis, it was found that the calcium adsorbed on the sludge surface could reduce extracellular polymeric substances (EPSs) and enhanced the dewaterbility. Based on the above results, it is considered possible to apply inorganic dehydrating agents containing recycled oyster shells in sludge dewatering in order to reduce sludge.

배연탈황 공정 중 DSI 공법의 탈황효율 향상을 위한 전산 유체 역학적 연구(I) (Numerical Analysis for Improving of SOx Removal Efficiency in the DSI(Dry Sorbent Injection Technique) of FGD System(I))

  • 본 연구의 목적은 대형 석탄 화력 발전소에 DSI(Dry Sorbent Injection)공법 적용 가능성에 대한 연구로서 전산유체역학(CFD; Computational Fluid Dynamics) 기법을 이용하여 N화력 S화력발전 본부에서 운용중인 500MW급 유연탄 발전시설의 보일러 후단에서 전기 집진기 전단까지 덕트 내의 배기가스에 대한 삼차원 유동장에 대한 전산 해석을 수행하였다. CFD상용코드를 이용하여 DSI공법적용 전 기술적 방향을 제시하였는데 덕트의 형상, 탈황제 분사 위치, 분사 속도에 따른 탈황제의 관내 분산 특성에 대한 연구를 중점으로 하였다. 그 결과 DSI공법 적용에 관한 최적의 조건을 확립하였고 그 중 탈황제의 분산에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 인자는 덕트형상임을 확인하였으며 이에 Lobed-plate라는 탈황제 분산판을 적용한 결과 덕트 내 탈황제의 고른 분산을 유도할 수 있었다.

대형 CNG기관의 직접분사화에 의한 희박한계확장 (A study on expansion of lean burn limit with direct injection of the heavy-duty CNG engine)

  • Lean combustion is one of the most promising method for increasing engine efficiency and reducing the exhaust emission from SI gas engines. Due to the possibility of partial burn and misfire, however, under lean burn operation, stable flame kernel formation and fast burn rate are needed to guarantee a successful subsequent combustion. Experiment data were obtained on a single-cylinder CNG fueled SI engine to investigate the effect of direct injection, spark timing and variation of injection timing. Experimental results show that lean burn limit is ${\lambda}$=1.3 with port injection, and expansion of lean burn limit ${\lambda}$=1.4 with direct injection method, due to increase of turbulence intensity in cylinder and stratified charge. Combustion duration in lean region is improved by using the variation of injection timing.

Analysis of Compression Ignition Combustion in a Schnurle-Type Gasoline Engine - Comparison of performance between direct injection and port injection systems -

  • A two-stroke Schnurle-type gasoline engine was modified to enable compression-ignition in both the port fuel injection and the in-cylinder direct injection. Using the engine, examinations of compression-ignition operation and engine performance tests were carried out. The amount of the residual gas and the in-cylinder mixture conditions were controlled by varying the valve angle rate of the exhaust valve (VAR) and the injection timing for direct injection conditions. It was found that the direct injection system is superior to the port injection system in terms of exhaust gas emissions and thermal efficiency, and that almost the same operational region of compression-ignition at medium speeds and loads was attained. Some interesting combustion characteristics, such as a shorter combustion period in higher engine speed conditions, and factors for the onset of compression-ignition were also examined.
