This study aims to analyse the influence of steam injection on the performance of hybrid systems combining a solid oxide fuel cell and a gas turbine. The steam is generated by recovering heat from the exhaust gas. Two system configurations, with difference being the operating pressure of the SOFC, are examined and effects of steam injection on performances of the two systems are compared. Two representative gas turbine pressure ratios are simulated and a wide range of both the fuel cell temperature and the turbine inlet temperature is examined. Without steam injection, the pressurized system generally exhibits better system efficiency than the ambient pressure system. Steam injection increases system power capacity for all design cases. However, its effect on system efficiency varies much depending on design conditions. The pressurized system hardly takes advantage of the steam injection in terms of the system efficiency. On the other hand, steam injection contributes to the efficiency improvement of the ambient pressure system in some design conditions. A higher pressure ratio provides a better chance of efficiency increase due to steam injection.
Emitter injection efficiency of p+/n-buffer Junction with Gaussian impurity distribution is presented. This model takes into account the variation of the carrier lifetime with injection level which allows a unified interpretation of the injection efficiency for all injection level. The injected carrier density and injection efficiency of the anode are calculated as a function of the current density with the low level lifetime as a parameter for different thicknesses of the anode. The analytical results agree well with simulation.
In this study, we focus on the improvement of the filling efficiency in injection molding by application of ultrasonic vibration. While studies about the filling efficiency of typical filling processes in the injection molding have been widely performed, there have been only few studies about the filling efficiency of an ultrasonic process. The effect of the ultrasonic vibration is an important process condition, which influences the flow characteristics of polymer melt. This new condition even affects well-known injection conditions such as cavity pressure, injection temperature and mold temperature. For this study, we carried out a numerical analysis by appropriate modeling and analysis of the ultrasonic process in the filling process. To verify this numerical analysis, we compared the numerical results with the experimental data. Also, we analyzed the filling process in a thin cavity using this numerical analysis. To understand the flow characteristics of polymer melt in the ultrasonic process, we substituted real and complex vibration conditions with simplified and classified conditions according to the position of vibrating cavity surfaces and the phase difference between two opposing cavity surfaces. We also introduced MFR (melt flow ratio) as a new index to estimate the filling efficiency in the ultrasonic process.
Recently, microturbines have received attention as a small-scale distributed power generator. Since the exhaust gas carries all of the heat release, generating hot water is usual method of heat recovery from microturbine CHP (combined heat and power) systems. The power of microturbines decreases as ambient temperature increases. This study predicted micoturbine power boost by injecting hot water generated by heat recovery. Influence of injecting water at two different locations was examined. Water injection improves power, but efficiency depends much on the injection location. Injecting water at the compressor discharge shows a much higher efficiency than the combustor injection. However, the combustor injection may have as much available cogeneration heat as the dry operation, while the available heat in the compressor discharge injection is much smaller than the dry operation.
본 연구에서는 보통 포틀랜드 시멘트 OPC(Ordinary Portland Cement)와 MIS(Micro-Injection Process System) 공법에서 사용하고 있는 마이크로 시멘트의 지반 침투성능을 평가하기 위해 실내모형시험을 수행하였다.
We investigated the effect of electron injection layer on the performance of organic light emitting devices (OLEDs). As an electron injection layer, the quinolate metal complexes were used. We optimized the device efficiency by varying the thickness of the quinolate metal complexes layer. The device with 1 nm of the quinolate metal complexes layer showed significant enhancement of the device performance and device lifetime. We also compared the effect of 8-hydroxyquinolinolatolithium (Liq) with that of bis(8-quinolinolato)-zinc ($Znq_{2}$) and 8-hydroxyquinolinolatosodium (Naq) as an electron injection layer. As a result, Liq is considered as a better materials for the electron injection layer than $Znq_{2}$ and Naq.
A micromodel was applied to estimate the effects of geological conditions and injection methods on displacement of resident porewater by injecting scCO2 in the pore scale. Binary images from image analysis were used to distinguish scCO2-filled-pores from other pore structure. CO2 flooding followed by porewater displacement, fingering migration, preferential flow and bypassing were observed during scCO2 injection experiments. Effects of pressure, temperature, salinity, flow rate, and injection methods on storage efficiency in micromodels were represented and examined in terms of areal displacement efficiency. The measurements revealed that the areal displacement efficiency at equilibrium decreases as the salinity increases, whereas it increases as the pressure and temperature increases. It may result from that the overburden pressure and porewater salinity can affect the CO2 solubility in water and the hydrophilicity of silica surfaces, while the neighboring temperature has a significant effect on viscosity of scCO2. Increased flow rate could create more preferential flow paths and decrease the areal displacement efficiency. Compared to the continuous injection of scCO2, the pulse-type injection reduced the probability for occurrence of fingering, subsequently preferential flow paths, and recorded higher areal displacement efficiency. More detailed explanation may need further studies based on closer experimental observations.
To enhance the electron injection from the cathode of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), We have studied characteristics of device that electron injection layer(EIL) is inserted between emissive layer and cathode. We fabricated bi-layer cathode $Li_2O$(x nm)/Al(100nm) and LiF(x nm)/Al(100nm) using LiF and $Li_2O$ as an electron injection layer. We analyzed the current efficiency, luminance efficiency, and external quantum efficiency of the device by varying the thickness of $Li_2O$ and LiF to be 0.5nm, 1nm, or 3nm. Using the EIL, we have obtained the efficiency of 7cd/A and the luminance of $20,000cd/m^2$. There is an improvement of efficiency by more than 3 times than the device without the $Li_2O$ layer.
