An Optical Cavity Design for an Infrared Gas Detector Using an Off-axis Parabolic Mirror

  • This study examined a method for designing the optical cavity of a non-dispersive infrared gas detector. The infrared gas detector requires an optical cavity design to lengthen the ray path. However, the optical cavity with multiple reflecting surfaces has off-axis aberration due to the characteristics of the reflecting optical system. The rays were parallelized by using the off-axis parabolic mirror to easily increase the ray path and eliminate off-axis aberration so that the rays are admitted to the effective area of the infrared detector uniformly. A prototype of an infrared gas detector was produced with the designed optical cavity to confirm the performance.

  • This paper presents an innovative prototype of a new conceptual electromagnetic induction heated type far infrared rays radiant heating appliance using the voltage-fed quasi-resonant ZVS-PWM high frequency inverter using IGBTs for food cooking and processing which operates under a constant frequency variable power regulation scheme. This power electronic appliance with soft switching high frequency inverter using IGBTs has attracted special interest from some advantageous view points of safety, cleanliness, compactness and rapid temperature response, which is more suitable for consumer power electronics applications.

  • The characteristics of Far-infrared rays mineral water(FIR water) have been compared to the tap water by means of relationship between FIR water and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy(NMR), FIR water and thermography FIR water and velocity of blood FIR-water and pH, FIR water and dissolved oxygen(DO), FIR water and Oxidation-Reduction Potential(ORP) using the development FIR water purification of grand prix system. From the experimental result are quite satisfactory when compared with the tap water. Also the FIR water were evaluated to see if those are tasty and healthy using the Hashimoto's Mineral Balance Index. As a result FIR-water was found as tasty and healthy.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was designed to identify the effects of heat therapy on dysmenorrhea, heat being provided using a far infrared rays heating element. Methods: The research design for the study was a non-equivalent control group quasi- experimental design. Participants were 22 students for the experimental group, and 26 students for the control group. Data were analyzed using SAS WIN 9.1 program. Results: The experimental group had significantly lower mean scores for menstrual pain, dysmenorrhea, and blood pressure than those in the control group. However, no significant differences were found between two groups for pulse, respiration, and temperature. Conclusion: These findings show that thermotherapy was effective for reduction of menstrual pain, dysmenorrhea, and B/P. Therefore, this therapy could be used as a nursing intervention for students with dysmenorrhea.

  • This study was conducted to investigate change of rate of laying eggs and vitamin according to feeding of far infrared-irradiated rice. The feeding of rice irradiated by far infrared rays did not affect the body weight of laying hens, but the rate of laying eggs were 14% positively increased than normal rice. Especially, the levels of vitamin A(150${\sim}$200%), D(28${\sim}$30%) and E(40${\sim}$67%) were much higher in the group of laying hens fed with rice irradiated by far infrared rays.

Effects of Wearable Near-Infrared Rays on Knee Pain in Korean Elderly Adults

  • To investigate the effects of wearable near-infrared ray-emitting knee pads on knee pain among elderly adults in Korea. Randomized controlled trial evaluating the effects of near-infrared rays (NIR) on knee pain in Korean elderly adults. Five community-based research facilities (two welfare centers, a senior citizen center, and two churches). Forty-seven participants aged 65 years and older who had experienced knee pain. The experimental group (n = 25) wore NIR-emitting knee pads for one month at nighttime while sleeping. The control group (n = 22) wore knee pads without NIR. Demographic characteristics, intensity and duration of knee pain, amount of analgesic medication used, range of motion, gait speed, and health-related quality of life were collected using questionnaires. The experimental group showed decreased intensity (t = -6.17, p < 0.001) and duration (t = -3.34, p = 0.002) of knee pain and reduced analgesic use (t = -2.30, p = 0.026) compared to the control group. NIR may be an effective non-pharmacological option for relieving knee pain in elderly adults.

  • The outer-most electrons of metal atoms and the remining valence electrons of any molecular atoms make three dimensional crystallizing $\pi$-bondings. The electrons on the $\pi$-bonding orbital rotate clockwise or counter-clockwise and they then make electro-magnetic waves between atoms on the orbital because electron move between plus charged ions. The three dimensional crystallizing $\pi$-bonding orbitals are quantum-mechanically modeled by a cyclic Kronig-Penny Model and energy band structures are analyzed with their potential barrier thickness. The waves generated between plus charged ions are the particular $\pi$-far infrared rays, which have dual properties between material and electro-magnetic waves and can be measured not by modern electro-magnetic tester but biosensor such as finger's force tester. Because the $\pi$-rays can be modulated with electro-magnetic waves it can be applied for harmful electro-magnetic wave killers. Because the $\pi$-rays make new three dimensional crystallizing $\pi$-bonding orbitals in the material the food and drink can be transformed into a helpful physical constitutional property for human health. Distinction between crystalline and amorphous metals is possible because very strong crystalline $\pi$-bonding orbitals can not easily be transformed into another. The $\pi$-rays can also be applied for biofunctional diagnostics and therapy. Gravitational field is one of the electro-magnetic fields.   • In order to produce a variety of lighting effects most of the modem museums use various light sources in the same space. This indicates, in other words, that each item on display is being exposed to a different lighting environment. There are required, however, different conditions for optimum environments for displaying and preserving items, respectively. In this research visible rays, ultraviolet rays and infrared rays measured in the show cases and display rooms of the National Museum of Korea were analyzed to assess its lighting environment.
