  • It was diagnosed customer transformers and other equipment by using non-contact infrared equipment. Examiners can identify not only abnormalities in real time in the field of the transformer immediately, as well as they were able to safely perform the scan. Thanks to successful transformer diagnosis, we can easily diagnose abnormalities of transformer itself which can be caused by deterioration of the oil used as overlaod or refrigerant and we can also diagnose abnomalities from low voltage bushing which can be result by external environmental factors and physical factors and abnomalities from its connections at the same time we found it is very useful at proactive diagnostics.

  • In this paper, we propose a two-scale fusion method for infrared and visible images using saliency and variance. The images are separated into two scales respectively: a base layer of low frequency component and a detailed layer of high frequency component. Then, these are synthesized using weight. The saliencies and the variances of the images are used as the fusion weights for the two-scale images. The proposed method is tested on several image pairs, and its performance is evaluated quantitatively by using objective fusion metrics.

  • In order to increase the survivability of combatant ship, measuring and analyzing the infrared radiation is important. Consequently, providing analysis report is also important for the progress of the new combatant ship design. This paper proposes a design and software implementation of filtering for the noise reduction of mid-wave IR camera image. We reduced the total test cost by using the suggested software filtering technique instead of hardware replacement or re-calibration. In addition, we enhanced the accuracy of analysis results by adjusting the parameters of software filtering according to the results of filtered image.

  • It is essential to develop a large capacity, non-contact nondestructive inspection system having high reliability to investigate repaired and strengthened structures. Nowadays, an infrared camera is widely used in non-contact nondestructive inspection system. Because an infrared camera is sensitive to the surrounding environment, it is necessary to improve a sensitivity of thermal image information and a relationship between defects and thermal image information. In this papaer, presented is an optimum void detection chart for the optimum conditions to detect infrared rays from inside and outside defects like voids and cracks in concrete structures using extensive computer simulation. Sensitivity studies are performed with respect to variables influencing the temperature distribution such as heating temperature, heating time, and geometries of defect, etc. It may be stated that it could be successfully utilized for the non-contact nondestructive inspection system to detect defects in concrete structures.

  • Image segmentation has been presented in the various method in image interpretation and recognition, and the image is using separate the characteristics of the specific purpose. In this paper, we proposed an algorithm that separate image for feature points detected to high temperature in a Thermal infrared image. In order to improve the processing time, the proposed algorithm is implemented to FPGA Hardware Block using the Zynq-7000 Evaluation Board environment. The proposed High-Temperature Detection Algorithm and total FPGA blocks show a decrease of a processing time result from 16ms to 0.001ms, and from 50ms to 0.322ms respectively. It is also verified similar results of the PSNR to comparing software thermal testbench and hardware ones.

  • As technology related to digital imaging equipment is developed and generalized, digital imaging system is used for various purposes in fields of society. The object tracking technology from digital image data in real time is one of the core technologies required in various fields such as security system and robot system. Among the existing object tracking technologies, cam shift technology is a technique of tracking an object using color information of an object. Recently, digital image data using infrared camera functions are widely used due to various demands of digital image equipment. However, the existing cam shift method can not track objects in image data without color information. Our proposed tracking algorithm tracks the object by analyzing the color if valid color information exists in the digital image data, otherwise it generates the lightness feature information and tracks the object through it. The brightness feature information is generated from the ratio information of the width and the height of the area divided by the brightness. Experimental results shows that our tracking algorithm can track objects in real time not only in general image data including color information but also in image data captured by an infrared camera.

  • This paper proposes a new approach for enhancing digital images based on red channel information, which has the most analogous characteristics to invisible infrared rays. Specifically, a red channel in RGB space is used to analyze the image contents and improve the visual quality of the input images but it can cause unexpected problems, such as the over-enhancement of reddish input images. To resolve this problem, inter-channel correlations between the color channels were derived, and the weighting parameters for visually pleasant image fusion were estimated. Applying the parameters resulted in significant brightness as well as improvement in the dark and bright regions. Furthermore, simple contrast and color corrections were used to maintain the original contrast level and color tone. The main advantages of the proposed algorithm are 1) it can improve a given image considerably with a simple inter-channel correlation, 2) it can obtain a similar effect of using an extra infrared image, and 3) it is faster than other algorithms compared without artifacts including halo effects. The experimental results showed that the proposed approach could produce better natural images than the existing enhancement algorithms. Therefore, the proposed scheme can be a useful tool for improving the image quality in consumer imaging devices, such as compact cameras.

  • The purpose of infrared and visible image fusion is to integrate images of different modes with different details into a result image with rich information, which is convenient for high-level computer vision task. Considering many deep networks only work in a single scale, this paper proposes a novel image fusion based on three-scale dense network to preserve the content and key target features from the input images in the fused image. It comprises an encoder, a three-scale block, a fused strategy and a decoder, which can capture incredibly rich background details and prominent target details. The encoder is used to extract three-scale dense features from the source images for the initial image fusion. Then, a fusion strategy called l1-norm to fuse features of different scales. Finally, the fused image is reconstructed by decoding network. Compared with the existing methods, the proposed method can achieve state-of-the-art fusion performance in subjective observation.

  • The KOMPSAT-3A satellite acquires high-resolution MWIR images twice a day compared to conventional Earth observing satellites. New radiometric information of Earth's surface can be provided due to different characteristics from existing SWIR images or TIR images. In this study, the difference image of multitemporal images was generated and compared with existing infrared images to find the characteristics of KOMPSAT-3A MWIR satellite images. A co-registration was performed and the difference between pixel values was minimized by using PIFs (Pseudo Invariant Features) pixel-based relative normalization. The experiment using Sentinel-2 SWIR image, Landsat 8 TIR image, and KOMPSAT-3A MWIR image showed that the distinction between artifacts in the difference image of KOMPSAT-3A is prominent. It is believed that the utilization of KOMPSAT-3A MWIR images can be improved by using the characteristics of IR image.
