Cognitive biases can influence human information behaviour and decisions made in information behaviour and use. This study aims to identify the biases involved in some aspects of information behaviour and the role they play in information behaviour and use. Twenty-five semi-structured face-to-face interviews were conducted in an exploratory qualitative study with graduate (MA and PhD) students who were at the stage of their dissertation/thesis research. Eisenberg & Berkowitz Big6^TM Skills for Information Literacy was adopted as a framework for interviews and the analysis was done using grounded theory coding method. The findings revealed the presence of twenty-eight biases in different stages of information behaviour, including availability bias (affects the preference for information seeking strategies), attentional bias (leads to biased attention to some information), anchoring effect (persuades users to anchor in special parts of information), confirmation bias (increases the tendency to use information that supports one's beliefs), and choice-supportive bias (results in confidence in information seeking processes). All stages of information seeking were influenced by some biases. Biases might result in a lack of clarity in defining the information needs, failure in looking for the right information, misinterpretation of information, and might also influence the way information is presented.

Information seeking behaviour is an activity of an individual in the process of identifying information that suits his/her knowledge pursuit. It is observed from the review of literature that there is no single study on the information seeking behaviour of faculties of pharmacy either at state level or national levels in India. Therefore this research has been conducted to bridge the gap on information seeking behaviour of pharmacy faculty in Tamil Nadu in view of the recent developments in information seeking behaviour, with objectives such as: to identify the information needs and seeking behaviour of faculty of the pharmacy educational institutions in Tamil Nadu (India); to examine the motivating factors for information seeking behaviour of the pharmacy faculty; to examine faculty opinions about the comprehensiveness or otherwise of respective institutions' library collections; and to analyse the extent of use and dependence on various sources of information for teaching and research. A total of 729 questionnaires have been distributed among 41 pharmacy educational institutions in Tamil Nadu, out of which 601 have responded, and the response rate is 82.44%. Based on the findings of the study certain implications have been derived as measures to enhance the quality of the pharmacy libraries in Tamil Nadu.

Nowadays the enormous growth of modern information communication technologies and its massive use have influenced information users all over the world. Such a digital environment has drastically changed the information seeking patterns of information users of every community. These also tend law students to use various legal information sources and services in digital environments while seeking information. But there have been few empirical user studies on the aspect of digital information seeking behaviours of law students in either law or library and information science literatures. This paper aims to draw out patterns of information seeking behavior of students of law in digital environments at the University of Dhaka. A stratified random sample survey was conducted for this study. The results show that students prefer the electronic format of information rather than printed format. Major e-resources used by them and the influential factors of use were also identified in this study. This study also identified some crucial problems for seeking information and provides suggestions for the development of electronic legal information systems.

Recently, there has been an increasing demand for buildings that allow rapid assembly of construction elements, have ample open space areas and are flexible in their final intended use. Accordingly, researchers have developed new competitive structures in terms of cost and efficiency, such as cold-formed steel and timber composite floors, to satisfy these requirements. Cold-formed steel and timber composite floors are light floors with relatively high stiffness, which allow for longer spans. As a result, they inherently have lower fundamental natural frequency and lower damping. Therefore, they are likely to undergo unwanted vibrations under the action of human activities such as walking. It is also quite expensive and complex to implement vibration control measures on problematic floors. In this study, a finite element model of a composite floor reported in the literature was developed and validated against four-point bending test results. The validated FE model was then utilised to examine the vibration behaviour of the investigated composite floor. Predictions obtained from the numerical model were compared against predictions from analytical formulas reported in the literature. Finally, the influence of various parameters on the vibration behaviour of the composite floor was studied and discussed.

The emergence of social media platforms has changed the culture of business marketing. Their impact has increased considerably since the emergence of social media influencers or content creators. The phenomenon of social media influencers has been adopted as one of the most effective marketing strategies among global and local organizations. Those celebrities attract business owners, who seek to use them as means to reach a large number of potential consumers. Today, the user bases of Snapchat and YouTube in Saudi Arabia are growing fast and becoming very popular, unlike other social media platforms. Consequently, the impact of these applications' influencers on the purchasing habits of individuals cannot be underestimated. This survey paper intends to investigate the impact of Snapchat and YouTube influencers on the consumption behaviour of Saudi consumers. Results suggest that Snapchat is not only more popular but also more rusted and credible. Moreover, influencers' impact on purchasing behaviour is prevalent and powerful; furthermore, its influence is more effective in persuading Saudi consumers to buy certain products, such as food, than other products, like jewelry.

본 연구는 PPV 서비스 이용자와 비이용자의 두 개 집단으로 나누어 이들의 능동성 정도를 비교하고, PPV 서비스 이용자를 대상으로 능동성 정도가 PPV 이용을 예측할 수 있는지를 발견하고자 하였다. 이를 위해서 능동성을 선택적 행동과 참여적 행동의 두 개의 하부개념으로 나누어 측정하였다. PPV 이용집단의 특성을 보면, 이들은 비이용 집단에 비해서 위성방송을 이용하기 위해서 선택적 행동을 많이 하는 사람들이다. 한편 PPV 이용 정도를 가장 많이 예측할 수 있는 능동성 변인은 참여적 행동이었다.

Ubiquitous interaction in a pervasive environment is the main attribute of smart spaces. Pervasive systems are weaving themselves in our daily life, making it possible to collect user information invisibly, in an unobtrusive manner by known and even unknown parties. Huge number of interactions between users and pervasive devices necessitate a comprehensive trust model which unifies different trust factors like context, recommendation, and history to calculate the trust level of each party precisely. Trusted computing enables effective solutions to verify the trustworthiness of computing platforms. In this paper, we elaborate Unified Trust Model (UTM) which calculates entity's trustworthiness based on history, recommendation, context and platform integrity measurement, and formally use these factors in trustworthiness calculation. We evaluate UTM behaviour by simulating in different scenario experiments using a Trust and Reputation Models Simulator for Wireless Sensor Networks. We show that UTM offers responsive behaviour and can be used effectively in the low interaction environments.

Welding technology plays an important role in the fabrication of structure, and this has led to an increasing attention in the use of high quality advanced welding technology such as power beam welding, friction stir welding, and laser-arc hybrid welding, etc. At the same time, welding can influence various factors in the performance of plant and equipment, and corrosion behaviour of weldment has been one of the major issues for both welding and corrosion research engineers. The aim of this paper is to give a short survey of the recent technical trends of welding and corrosion behaviours including the electrochemical corrosion, stress corrosion cracking, and corrosion fatigue in connection with the welding materials, welding process, and welding fabrication.

경제적, 환경적 이유에서, 승용차 이용을 억제하고 대중교통수단 분담율을 제고하는 교통정책은 수도권 지자체에게 있어 매우 중요한 과제이다. 통행행태를 근본적으로 이해하는 것은 이러한 정책의 수립과 집행에 매우 중요한 필요조건이다. 소규모 샘플자료를 이용, 특정한 통행 행태와 몇몇의 사회경제적 혹은 지리공간적 변수들 간의 상관관계에 대한 횡단면적 분석을 행하는 것이 이 분야 전통적인 연구주제였다. 연구결과는 스냅샷과 유사한, 시공간적으로 제한된 정보만을 제공한다. 그러나, 통행은 공간적으로 상이한 장소에서 벌어지는 일상활동 참여로부터 파생되며, 일상 활동계획 상에서의 활동-통행 간 순서 관계는 통행 행태의 중요한 틀이다. 본 연구는 다차원 정보배열비교법과 핵심정보배열추출기법을 이용, 서울시민의 일일 대중교통 이용 자료인 스마트 카드 자료를 분석하여 서울시내 대중교통 이용 행태의 일반 특성을 탐구한다. 분석 결과 서울 강남/북 간 버스-전철 연계통행과 간선버스 통행간 통행 행태의 중요한 차이를 확인할 수 있었다. 즉 통행패턴은 보통 강북과 강남 권역 안에서 형성이 되어 있어, 자연 장애물인 한강을 건너 강남/북을 가로지르는 통행패턴은 상대적으로 적었다. 또한 강북과 강남 각각의 권역 안에서 CBD를 들르는 통행패턴은 보통 전철 혹은 지선버스-전철의 연계교통수단을 이용하는 데 반해 지선버스 혹은 간선버스만을 이용하는 통행패턴은 CBD가 아닌 지역으로 목적지가 국한되는 경향이 있다.
