  • Vision-based Human Pose Estimation has been considered as one of challenging research subjects due to problems including confounding background clutter, diversity of human appearances and illumination changes in scenes. To tackle these problems, we propose to use a new multi-stage convolution machine for estimating human pose. To provide better heatmap prediction of body joints, the proposed machine repeatedly produces multiple predictions according to stages with receptive field large enough for learning the long-range spatial relationship. And stages are composed of various modules according to their strategic purposes. Pyramid stacking module and dilation module are used to handle problem of human pose at multiple scales. Their multi-scale information from different receptive fields are fused with concatenation, which can catch more contextual information from different features. And spatial and channel information of a given input are converted to gating factors by squeezing the feature maps to a single numeric value based on its importance in order to give each of the network channels different weights. Compared with other ConvNet-based architectures, we demonstrated that our proposed architecture achieved higher accuracy on experiments using standard benchmarks of LSP and MPII pose datasets.

  • In order to efficiently detect community structure in complex networks, community detection algorithms can be designed from the perspective of node similarity. However, the appropriate parameters should be chosen to achieve community division, furthermore, these existing algorithms based on the similarity of common neighbors have low discrimination between node pairs. To solve the above problems, a noval community detection algorithm using closeness similarity based on common neighbor node clustering entropy is proposed, shorted as CSCDA. Firstly, to improve detection accuracy, common neighbors and clustering coefficient are combined in the form of entropy, then a new closeness similarity measure is proposed. Through the designed similarity measure, the closeness similar node set of each node can be further accurately identified. Secondly, to reduce the randomness of the community detection result, based on the closeness similar node set, the node leadership is used to determine the most closeness similar first-order neighbor node for merging to create the initial communities. Thirdly, for the difficult problem of parameter selection in existing algorithms, the merging of two levels is used to iteratively detect the final communities with the idea of modularity optimization. Finally, experiments show that the normalized mutual information values are increased by an average of 8.06% and 5.94% on two scales of synthetic networks and real-world networks with real communities, and modularity is increased by an average of 0.80% on the real-world networks without real communities.

  • Depending on the sophistication of IT, it is increasing more and more information leaks and breaches. Accordingly the majority of companies have expand investment protection for the information. However, companies still have been exposed the vulnerability of information leakage. Especially, small IT service businesses than large corporations relatively have some limitations in the points of resources and manpower business activities. For studies on information security for small IT service companies so far, however, there have been insufficient studies considering small business scales and business characteristics of IT services. In this study, we made to design an information security management model for establishing security measures of small IT service companies which are classified SI/SM, DB, IR and IP industry that depending on how the value creation of the business. In detail, we performed an empirical analysis for small IT service business to consider business characteristics and we proposed security implementation strategies based on the analysis results.

  • Recent advances in cognitive radio technology have drawn immense attention to higher layer protocols above medium access control, such as transmission control protocol (TCP). Most proposals to improve the TCP performance in cognitive radio (CR) networks have assumed that either all nodes are in CR networks or the TCP sender side is in CR links. In those proposals, lower layer information such as the CR link status could be easily exploited to adjust the congestion window and improve throughput. In this paper, we consider a TCP network in which the TCP sender is located remotely over the Internet while the TCP receiver is connected by a CR link. This topology is more realistic than the earlier proposals, but the lower layer information cannot be exploited. Under this assumption, we propose an enhanced TCP protocol for CR networks called TCP for cognitive radio (TCP-CR) to improve the existing TCP by (1) detection of primary user (PU) interference by a remote sender without support from lower layers, (2) delayed congestion control (DCC) based on PU detection when the retransmission timeout (RTO) expires, and (3) exploitation of two separate scales of the congestion window adapted for PU activity. Performance evaluation demonstrated that the proposed TCP-CR achieves up to 255% improvement of the end-to-end throughput. Furthermore, we verified that the proposed TCP does not deteriorate the fairness of existing TCP flows and does not cause congestions.

  • Recognizing plant species based on leaf images is challenging because of the large inter-class variation and inter-class similarities among different plant species. The effective extraction of leaf descriptors constitutes the most important problem in plant leaf recognition. In this paper, a multi-scale angular description method is proposed for fast and accurate leaf recognition and retrieval tasks. The proposed method uses a novel scale-generation rule to develop an angular description of leaf contours. It is parameter-free and can capture leaf features from coarse to fine at multiple scales. A fast Fourier transform is used to make the descriptor compact and is effective in matching samples. Both support vector machine and k-nearest neighbors are used to classify leaves. Leaf recognition and retrieval experiments were conducted on three challenging datasets, namely Swedish leaf, Flavia leaf, and ImageCLEF2012 leaf. The results are evaluated with the widely used standard metrics and compared with several state-of-the-art methods. The results and comparisons show that the proposed method not only requires a low computational time, but also achieves good recognition and retrieval accuracies on challenging datasets.

  • This study reviewed the status of domestic and foreign Architectural Information Systems and related laws, analyzed the state of the architectural service industry, and proposed the phased introduction of BIM into Architectural Information Systems. The adoption of BIM in Architectural Information Systems both at home and abroad is generally at an unsatisfactory level, with only Singapore assuming a leading role in this area through activities such as the provision of a separate BIM submission service. Since it is desirable for BIM to be applied to additional types of architecture when the architectural licensing procedure is introduced, the different phases of adoption were set after analyzing the scales and types of architecture as defined in related laws. By analyzing the participation rates of architectural design firms in each scale of architecture design, the results demonstrated that, as the number of floors and total floor area in the building increases, the proportion of small scale architectural design firms involved decreases, while that of large-scale architectural design firms increases. The adoption of BIM is occurring mostly within large-scale architectural design firms, which is why it is desirable for its introduction into Architectural Information Systems to be separated into phases from large-scale buildings to increasingly small-scale architecture. In conclusion, this study divided the adoption of BIM in Architectural Information Systems into 6 stages and, following the Architectural administration procedure, established a segmented road map for the gradual activation of BIM.

  • This paper presents the nonlinear characteristics of the parametric resonance of a simply supported beam which is inextensible beam. For the beam model, the order-three expanded equation of motion has been determined in a form amenable to a perturbation treatment. The equation of motion is derived by a special Cosserat theory. The method of multiple scales is used to determine the equations that describe to the first-order modulation of the amplitude of simply supported beam. The stability and the bifurcation points of the system are investigated applying the frequency response function.

  • This paper presents a nonlinear time series analysis technique for evaluating machine defect severity, based on the Recurrence Plot (RP) entropy. The RP entropy is calculated from the probability distribution of the diagonal line length in the recurrence plot, which graphically depicts a system's dynamics and provides a global picture of the autocorrelation in a time series over all available time-scales. Results of experimental studies conducted on a spindle-bearing test bed have demonstrated that, as the working condition of the bearing deteriorates due to the initiation and/or progression of structural damages, the frequency information contained in the vibration signal becomes increasingly complex, leading to the increase of the RP entropy. As a result, RP entropy can serve as an effective indicator for defect severity assessment of rolling bearings.

  • Symbiotic stars are long-orbital-period interacting binaries characterized by extended emission over the whole electromagnetic range and by complex photometric and spectroscopic variability. In this contribution, I will present some high-cadence, long-term optical light curves of confirmed and candidate symbiotic stars in the Magellanic Clouds. By careful visual inspection and combined time series analysis techniques, we investigate for the first time in a systematic way the photometric properties of these astrophysical objects, trying in particular to distinguish the evolutionary status of the cool component, to provide its first-order pulsation ephemeris and to link all this information with the physical parameters of the binary system as a whole. Finally, I will discuss a new, promising photometric technique, potentially able to discover Symbiotic Stars in the Local Group of Galaxies without the recourse to costly spectroscopic follow-up.

  • XML Web Services are a distributed computing component which enables users to use services existing in remote places by using a standardized language called XML. Web Services were developed as the cooperation and business scales between companies as businesses had been widened due to the improvement of internet services. For this reason, enterprise sized Web Services are mainly used at present. But as the number of Internet users has been increased, they became in need of more diverse services, and providing individual Web Services are also being more emphasized. Therefore, an Embedded Web Server for personal Web Services for embedded systems such as cell phones had been implemented in this paper. This paper shows the possibility of building up a small, personal sized Web Services Server not the enterprise sized one by doing real implementation.
