  • Internet service providers provide various security services, such as firewall, intrusion detection, intrusion prevention, anti-virus, along with their main Internet services. Those security service users have no idea what kind of quality services they are guaranteed. And therefore, Internet users interest in Security Service Level Agreement(SLA) increases as their interest in secure Internet service increases. However, there wasn't any researches in the S-SLA area domestically and there are only limited SLA indexes related to system or service maintenances at the moment. Therefore, this paper analyses security functions in IPS services and categorize them into common and independent security functions. Finally to improve quality of security services, this paper proposes S-SLA indexes depending on the different security levels. This will be subdivide into agreement on security service.

  • This paper aims at identifying the problems in the services for research of academic libraries. For this purpose, research functions of academic libraries and the requirements for them are identified. The hypothesis to be verified is that the service environments of academic libraries have not been coping properly with the changing needs of research activities. The statistics on budgets, staff and services of academic libraries in Korea are compared with those in the United States of America and the United Kingdom. It is concluded that the environments of academic libraries have not met the changing needs of research environments. Based on the conclusion, some suggestions are provided.

  • Currently, automated payment services provide intuitive user interfaces by adapting various wireless communication devices with mobile services. For example, companies like Samsung, Google, and Apple have selected the NFC payment method to service payments of existing credit cards. An electronic payment standard has been released for NFC activation within Korea and will strengthen the safety of payment service communications. However, there are various security risks regarding the NFC-based electronic payment method. In particular, the NFC payment service using the recently released lightweight devices cannot provide the cryptographic strength that is supported by many financial transaction services. This is largely due to its computational complexity and large storage resource requirements. The chaotic map introduced in this study can generate a highly complicated code as it is sensitive to the initial conditions. As the lightweight study using the chaotic map has been actively carried out in recent years, associated authentication techniques of the lightweight environment have been released. If applied with a chaotic map, a high level of cryptographic strength can be achieved that can provide more functions than simple XOR operations or HASH functions. Further, this technique can be used by financial transaction services. This study proposes a mutual authentication technique for NFC-PCM to support an NFC payment service environment based on the chaotic map.

  • NFV realizes flexible and rapid software deployment and management of network functions in the cloud network, and provides network services in the form of chained virtual network functions (VNFs). However, using VNFs to provide quality guaranteed services is still a challenge because of the inherent difficulty in intelligently scaling VNFs to handle traffic fluctuations. Most existing works scale VNFs with fixed-capacity instances, that is they take instances of the same size and determine a suitable deployment location without considering the cloud network resource distribution. This paper proposes a traffic forecasted assisted proactive VNF scaling approach, and it adopts the instance capacity adaptive to the node resource. We first model the VNF scaling as integer quadratic programming and then propose a proactive adaptive VNF scaling (PAVS) approach. The approach employs an efficient traffic forecasting method based on LSTM to predict the upcoming traffic demands. With the obtained traffic demands, we design a resource-aware new VNF instance deployment algorithm to scale out under-provisioning VNFs and a redundant VNF instance management mechanism to scale in over-provisioning VNFs. Trace-driven simulation demonstrates that our proposed approach can respond to traffic fluctuation in advance and reduce the total cost significantly.

  • President Park Geun-hye Administration has established the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning (MSIP) to build a creative economy using Information and Communication Technology (ICT). July 2, 2013, The National Assembly has legislated the special act on the ICT promotion and convergence so called special ICT Act. This special ICT Act has reduced the legal basis through legislative process and departmental agreement. Therefore many experts worried that since the MSIP's key functions and roles are being reduced, there will be a limit to the MSIP's endeavor for the advancement of science technology and the ICT promotion and convergence. The establishment of the Agency, together with the formation of 'IT Strategy Committee', is considered to be one of the core items of the Special Act on ICT. MSIP originally planned to integrate the ICT R&D functions scattered across many governmental organizations, including Korea Communications Agency (KCA), KEIT and Korea Creative Contents Agency (KOCCA), into the Agency to separate the national ICT R&D from private R&D and streamline the process of 'discovery-selection-evaluation-commercialization'. The analytical results in this study are supposed to the establishment of efficient ICT governance systems as the practical strategies to actively cope with the changes of ICT convergence environment. It is also expected to the revision on the special ICT Act in the ICT budget and governance. Therefore, MSIP should cover research and development (R&D) as well as major ICT promotion functions to a creative economy.

  • In this paper, the informative space is proposed to implant ubiquitous functions into physical spaces. We merge physical and virtual spaces through the space structurization using an RFID system, and solve the space localization and mapping problem for a robot to navigate through the distribution and synthesis of information and knowledge. To distribute knowledge flexibly and reliably to changing environment and also to develop a system which allows a robot to invoke and merge the distributed knowledge more freely, we employ a novel approach of knowledge management based on Web services. The proposed method is verified by building a physical space with two kinds of RFID tags and a virtual space with knowledge database based on Web services.

  • Securing food safety, natural and social environmental protection, and activation of rural communities are some of challenging tasks for the 21st century. National consensus on agriculture as a basic and public industry would be needed to solve these challenging tasks. Agricultural policy and extension education should be focused on encouraging farmers to achieve better production and management by developing their motivation and ability. Systematic and organizational efforts to make a better environment for farming and farm management should be the major target of agricultural policy and extension services in the future. To meet changing needs of farmer, agricultural extension services should change programs, functions, information sources, and methods of delivery to adopt experiential learning for farmers. Functions for consultation, suggestion and organization should be extended and advisory services for farmers should be emphasized by providing extension education.

  • As information technology has been evolving, digital library emerges as a vision of future library. Many authors on digital library describe that the problems that today's libraries face would be completely solved by using digital technology. But it is su n.0, pposed that such technology oriented papers do not take care of what the library has been and should remain. This paper is prepared to identify what core elements of library services being provided in traditional environment must be transferred to the digital library. For this purpose, firstly historical transition from traditional library to digital discussed. Secondly, library's fundamental service functions are analysed from three points of view-library as cultural and social institution, library as intellectual reality, library as a collection. And 'control zone' concept is also investigated as a new possibility of academic digital libraries. In contrast to open zone in which information is not controled at all as in internet, in control zone, information is selected and maintained by academic library community, retaining such essential library functions as selection.
