Discharge Characteristics of a Flat Plasma Backlight with Long Electrode Gap

  • The discharge characteristics of a flat plasma backlight with long electrode gap are investigated. The effect of operating voltage and repetition rate on brightness and luminance efficiency is investigated. A new high efficacy mode is found at low frequencies around 15-40 KHz; a lumen efficacy of 15.3 lm/W is achieved at a luminance of $2400\;cd/m^2$. In the high brightness mode, present at high voltage, we find a maximum luminance of $5900\;cd/m^2$ at 30KHz.

High School Students' Perception and Attitudes toward Nanotechnology (고등학생의 나노기술에 대한 인식과 태도)

  • In this study, high school students' perceptions and attitudes toward nanotechnology are examined through questionnaires gathered from 1704 high school students (five general high schools and two science high schools). As a result, the study shows that high school students have generally high perceptions and positive attitudes toward nanotechnology. Science high school students show more positive attitudes and correct knowledge toward nanotechnology rather than general high school students do. High school students get information on nanotechnology via various sources such as TV and internet, whereas they have rarely perceived to get information on nanotechnology in textbooks and science class. They think that newspaper and TV programs are proper methods to introduce new science technology and get information on the advanced science and technology through the internet and science teachers. High school students show positive attitudes toward the application of nanotechnology, whereas they show negative attitudes toward personal information chips and nano-taste enhancer. And they trust nanotechnology researchers and science teachers, whereas they rarely trust about government, public organizations, and internet.

  • 앞으로 도래하게 될 유비쿼터스 기술은 사람의 생활을 편리하게 만들어 줄 것이다. 또한 이미 많은 나라에서도 유비쿼터스 기술개발에 많은 투자를 하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 유비쿼터스 기술을 바탕으로 제공될 서비스와 서비스 시나리오에 대해 연구하였다. 누구(서비스를 제공받는 사람)에게 어떠한 서비스를 제공해야 하는가의 문제와 실제 서비스가 어떠한 과정으로 실행되어지는가의 문제는 앞으로 유비쿼터스 환경에서 반드시 풀어야 할 문제이다. 따라서 시스템 개발을 위한 서비스 결정 모델과 서비스의 상태전이를 통해 원활한 서비스 제공을 하기 위한 모델을 제시하였으며 유비쿼터스 환경을 갖춘 고등학교라는 특정 도메인을 대상으로 서비스 시나리오에 모델을 적용 및 프로토콜을 적용한 사례연구를 하였다.

  • 사용자 중심의 감성공학으로 다변화 되어가는 유비쿼터스환경에서 디자인 요소와 결합시키는 상호작용이 요구되고 있으며 많은 연구가 진행되어 왔다. IT융합기술을 이용하여 감성 디자인을 제공하는 것은 제품 서비스 전략의 중요한 요소이다. 본 논문에서는 정보 필터링을 이용한 감성공학적 자동차 디자인 지원 방법론을 제안하였다. 제안된 방법은 사용자에게 자신의 감성에 부합하는 자동차 디자인을 제공함으로써 이를 얻기 위한 시간과 비용을 줄여주고, 손쉽게 원하는 디자인 스타일에 접근하도록 한다. 현실의 상황을 활용하고 정보 필터링으로 디자인을 추천함으로써 사용자에게 지능화된 개인화 서비스를 제공할 수 있다. 이를 사용자 인터페이스로 구축하여 논리적 타당성과 유효성을 검증하기 위해 실험적인 적용을 시도하고자 한다.

MEASUREMENT OF THREE-DIMENSIONAL TRAJECTORIES OF BUBBLES AROUND A SWIMMER USING STEREO HIGH-SPEED CAMERA

  • This paper proposes a method for measurement three-dimensional trajectories of bubbles generated around a swimmer's arms from stereo high-speed camera videos. This method is based on two techniques: two-dimensional trajectory estimation in single-camera images and trajectory pair matching in stereo-camera images. The two-dimensional trajectory is estimated by block matching using similarity of bubble shape and probability of bubble displacement. The trajectory matching is achieved by a consistensy test using epipolar constraint in multiple frames. The experimental results in two-dimensional trajectory estimation showed the estimation accuracy of 47% solely by the general optical flow estimation, whereas 71% taking the bubble displacement into consideration. This concludes bubble displacement is an efficient aspect in this estimation. In three-dimensional trajectory estimation, bubbles were visually captured moving along the flow generated by an arm; which means an efficient material for swimmers to swim faster.

  • 다양한 라이프스타일에 따른 유비쿼터스 환경에서 디자인 요소와 감성공학을 결합시키는 상호작용 시스템이 요구되고 있으며 많은 연구가 진행되어 왔다. IT융합기술을 이용하여 감성 디자인을 제공하는 것은 제품 서비스 전략의 중요한 요소이다. 본 논문에서는 상황 기반의 감성 분석을 이용한 자전거 디자인 추천 방법론을 제안하였다. 제안된 방법은 자신의 감성에 부합하는 자전거 디자인을 제공함으로써 이를 얻기 위한 시간과 비용을 줄여주고, 원하는 디자인 스타일에 적용하도록 한다. 감성에 따른 자전거 디자인을 추천하기 위해 협력적 필터링을 사용하여 개인화 서비스를 제공한다. 이를 사용자 인터페이스로 구축하여 논리적 타당성과 유효성을 검증하기 위해 실험적인 적용을 시도하고자 한다.

The Forecasting about the Numbers of the Third Graders in a High-school until 2022 Year in Daegu City

  • Recently, the decrease of the number of the third graders in a high-school have serious influences on the number of a limit matriculation of colleges and universities. The purpose of this paper is to forecast for the number of a high-school graduate until 2022 year in Daegu city as based on the resident registration population. As the based period of 2004, most college and universities in Daegu city have to reduce the 37.5% of the number of limit matriculation until 2022 year to equal the number of the third graders in a high-school.

High Capacity Information Hiding Method Based on Pixel-value Adjustment with Modulus Operation

  • Through information hiding technique, secret message can be hidden in pictures. Stego-image quality and hiding capacity are two important metrics for information hiding. To enhance these metrics, many schemes were proposed by scholars in recent years. Some of them are effective and successful, but there is still a room for further improvement. A high capacity information hiding scheme (PAMO, Pixel-value Adjustment with Modulus Operation Algorithm) is introduced in this paper. PAMO scheme uses pixel value adjustment with modulus operation to hide confidential data in cover-image. PAMO scheme and some referenced schemes are implemented in Python and experiments are carried out to evaluate their performance. In the experiments, PAMO scheme shows better performance than other methods do. When secret message length is less than 72000 bits, the highest hiding capacity of PAMO can reach 7 bits per pixel, at the same time the PSNR of stego-images is greater than 30 dB.

Enhancements of T-REFWA to Mitigate Link Error-Related Degradations in Hybrid Wired/Wireless Networks

  • With the on-going wireless access technologies, the Internet has become accessible anytime anywhere. In wireless networks, link errors significantly degrade the performance of the transmission control protocol (TCP). To cope with this issue, this paper improves the recently-proposed terrestrial REFWA (T-REFWA) scheme by adding a new error recovery mechanism to its original design. In the T-REFWA scheme, senders are acknowledged with appropriate sending rates at which an efficient and fair utilization of network resources can be achieved. As the feedback values are computed independently of link errors, senders can keep transmitting data at high rates even in case of link error occurrences. Using this feature, the proposed error recovery mechanism can achieve high throughput in environments with high bit error rates. The throughput is further improved by disabling the exponential back-off algorithm of TCP so that long idle times are avoided in case of link errors. We show through simulations that the proposed method improves TCP performance in high bit error rates. Compared with several TCP variants, the proposed error recovery scheme exhibits higher link utilization and guarantees system fairness for different bit error rates.

A Study on the Awareness of Foodstylist Job Information for Culinary Arts Science High Schoolers (조리과학 고등학생들의 푸드 스타일리스트 직업 정보 인식에 관한 연구)

  • This thesis aims to consider theories of job information on foodstylist, conduct a survey among culinary arts science high school students who are in the most critical period of decision-making for the future career, and analyse the survey results on foodstylist by using SPSS10.0. The analysis shows that culinary high school students mainly get their job information on foodstylist through mass media. Thus, it can be deduced that use of mass media and the Internet can be the most effective to promote the awareness level of foodstylist. Culinary high schoolers' parents were positive about female students' being foodstylists, and those going to college showed more interest than job seekers about being foodstylists. In addition, the result of Bonferroni post-hoc test according to parents' monthly income showed that those with higher monthly income were positive about their children's being foodstylists. However, given that culinary high schoolers' overall satisfaction is low, provision of the information through a variety of information channels is necessary. It is expected that promotion of the information provision will serve a turning point in awareness.
