  • Nowadays application of modem achievements of information technologies in science, engineering and education is usual phenomenon. Application of these technologies allows easily creating new methods of learning of mathematics. More of new methods of creation of multimedia electronic manuals on high mathematics are founded to application of multimedia and communication opportunities of the computer. But application only multimedia and communication opportunities of the computer at creation of multimedia electronic manuals on high mathematics is insufficient to elimination of 'gap' between training and studying high mathematics. So, we offer a new way of the decision of this problem: creation of a multimedia electronic manual on high mathematics with built-in a mathematical environment MathCad in the national language.

  • The fundamental fluid mechanics associated with the rotation of a smooth plane disk enclosed within a cylindrical chamber have been studied experimentally. In order to acquire systematic information pertinent to this problem torque and friction loss data were obtained over a wide range of disk Reynolds numbers for axial clearance-disk radius ratio H/R from 0.025 to 0.2 and radial tip gap-disk radius ratio s/R from 0.021 to 0.105. Loss analysis of hard disk drive(HDD) is presented to describe the contribution of windage loss of a rotating disk. The minimum loss from factor of HDD can be obtained from this analysis at each operation conditions.

  • In the design of modern computer systems, the speed gap between the CPUs and DRAMs has been a major concern. To relieve this problem at a low cost, several new DRAM architectures have been proposed. This study is aimed at evaluating quantitatively the impact of the new DRAM architectures (synchronous DRAM. dual-RAS synchronous DRAM, and enhanced DRAM) on the memory system performance. We developed a cache and memory simulator and performed various experiments using the traces generated from four benchmark programs. The simulation results show that the new DRAM architectures offer a better performance than a conventional one by 5~30% in a low cost system and their improvement in a high performance system is less than 1%. However, for resonable multiprogramming workoads, additional performance improvement of about 10~28% is expected in a high performance system while 1~3% in a low cost system.

  • The fishing boat propulsion system employing the modified stern shape and the tunnel to protect a propeller is developed to increase the cruise speed and reduce he problem resulting from the open propeller accidentally catching the waste net and able on the sea. Using 3 different tunnel types, the model test was performed in the circular water channel and the panel method based on the potential theory is applied to analyze the open water performance of the propeller. In the numerical analysis using he potential-based panel method, it calculates the hydrodynamic interaction between the propeller and the tunnel and evaluates the effect of the tunnel geometry. From the numerical and experimental results differing tunnel geometries, the propulsion efficiency is increased by the larger diameter of the inlet than the outlet of the tunnel and the smaller gap between the propeller tip and the tunnel internal surface. These results provide the information of the propeller system with the tunnel and the hydrodynamic interaction between the propeller and the tunnel.

  • A new simple edge-based segmentation method composed of edge tracing, region filling, and post processing is proposed. Solving so called the small gap problem common to most of edge-based methods, this method segments images so completely as to be suitable for image coding. Experimental results show that our methods has much less (1/3) computation time than Perkins' one, and its reconstructed images is good on visual perception.

  • In this paper, we propose a similarity search algorithm for image databases. One of the central problems regarding content-based image retrieval (CBIR) is the semantic gap between the low-level features computed automatically from images and the human interpretation of image content. Many search algorithms used in CBIR have used the Minkowski metric (or $L_p$-norm) to measure similarity between image pairs. However those functions cannot adequately capture the aspects of the characteristics of the human visual system as well as the nonlinear relationships in contextual information. Our new search algorithm tackles this problem by employing new similarity measures and ranking strategies that reflect the nonlinearity of human perception and contextual information. Our search algorithm yields superior experimental results on a real handwritten digit image database and demonstrates its effectiveness.

  • In ASIP design, compiler is required for performance evaluation of processors being designed. The design of machine specific compiler is time consuming. This paper presents the system which generates C compiler from MDL descriptions. Compiler generation using MDL can support user retargetability and concurrency between compiler design and processor design. However, it must overcome semantics gap between compiler and machine. To handle this problem, the proposed system maps behavioral descriptions to library which contains abstract behavior for each tree pattern. Using mapped instructions and information on register file usage, the proposed system generates back-end interface function of the compiler. Generated compilers, for MIPS R3000, ARM9 cores, have been proved by application programs written in C code.

  • In general, auto parts production assembly line is assembled and produced by automatic mounting by an automated robot. In such a production site, quality problems such as misalignment of parts (doors, trunks, roofs, etc.) to be assembled with the vehicle body or collision between assembly robots and components are often caused. In order to solve such a problem, the quality of parts is manually inspected by using mechanical jig devices outside the automated production line. Automotive inspection technology is the most commonly used field of vision, which includes surface inspection such as mounting hole spacing and defect detection, body panel dents and bends. It is used for guiding, providing location information to the robot controller to adjust the robot's path to improve process productivity and manufacturing flexibility. The most difficult weighing and measuring technology is to calibrate the surface analysis and position and characteristics between parts by storing images of the part to be measured that enters the camera's field of view mounted on the side or top of the part. The problem of the machine vision device applied to the automobile production line is that the lighting conditions inside the factory are severely changed due to various weather changes such as morning-evening, rainy days and sunny days through the exterior window of the assembly production plant. In addition, since the material of the vehicle body parts is a steel sheet, the reflection of light is very severe, which causes a problem in that the quality of the captured image is greatly changed even with a small light change. In this study, the distance between the car body and the door part and the door are acquired by the measuring device combining the laser slit light source and the LED pattern light source. The result is transferred to the joint robot for assembling parts at the optimum position between parts, and the assembly is done at the optimal position by changing the angle and step.

  • Statement of problem. There have been many studies about marginal discrepancy of single restorations made by various systems and materials. But most of statistical inferences are not definite because of sample size, measurement number, measuring , instruments, etc. And there have been few studies about the marginal fit of Computer-aided Cercon crowns. Purpose. The purpose of this study was to compare the marginal fit of the anterior single restorations made using computer-aided milled Cercon crowns with metal-ceramic restorations and to obtain more accurate information by using a large enough sample size and by making sufficient measurements per specimen. Material and methods. The in vitro marginal discrepancies of computer-aided milled Cercon crowns and control groups (metal ceramic crowns) were evaluated and compared. The crowns were made from one extracted maxillary central incisor prepared by milling machine. 30 crowns per each system were fabricated. Measurements of a crown were recorded at 50 points that were randomly selected for marginal gap evaluation. Parametric statistical analysis was performed for the results. Results. The means and standard deviations of the marginal fit were 85$\pm$22$\mu$m for the control group and 91$\pm$15$\mu$m for the Cercon crowns. The t-test of the marginal discrepancies between Cercon crowns and metal-ceramic crowns were performed. Significant differences were not found between groups (P=0.230>.05). Based on the criterion of 120$\mu$m as the limit of clinical acceptability, the mean marginal fits of Cercon crowns and metal-ceramic crowns were acceptable. Conclusion. Within the limitations of this in vitro study, the following conclusions were drawn: 1. Mean gap dimensions and standard deviations at the marginal opening for maxillary incisal crowns were 85$\pm$22$\mu$m for the control (metal-ceramic crowns), 91$\pm$15$\mu$m for Cercon crowns. 2. The Cercon crowns showed slightly larger marginal gap discrepancy than the control but marginal gap between Computer-aided milled Cercon crowns and metal ceramic crowns did not showed significant difference (P>.05). 3. The Cercon crowns and metal ceramic crowns showed clinically acceptable marginal discrepancy.
