  • In this paper we propose an on-line tuning method by using genetic algorithm for robust minimax I-PD controller based on new criterion. The new criterion is the Integral of Squared Error (ISE) with a penalty of the derivative of manipulated variable. The work focuses on robust tuning of I-PD controller's parameters in the presence of plant parameter uncertainty. The result of several simulation studies are provided to illustrate the performance of this robust tunig method.

  • In this paper, we research the influence of data preprocessing. We conclude that using different preprocessing methods leads to different classification performances. Moreover, not all data preprocessing methods are necessary, and a criterion is given to make sure which data preprocessing is necessary and which one is effective. Experiments on some real-world data sets validate that different data preprocessing methods result in different effects. Furthermore, experiments about some algorithms with different preprocessing methods also confirm that preprocessing has a great influence on the performance of a classifier.

  • The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) eUCP came into force on 1 April 2002. The eUCP is a supplement to the current existing Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits (UCP500), which governs the use of electronic presentation. The eUCP is not a revision of the UCP. It is a supplement intended to deal with situations where presentations are made electronically. That is to say, the eUCP is a supplement to the UCP that, when used in conjunction with the UCP, will provide the necessary rules for the presentation of the electronic equivalents of paper documents under letters of credit. The purpose of this paper is to study on the criterion of examination of electronic records under the eUCP.

  • Channel inversion is one of the simplest techniques for multiuser downlink systems with single-antenna users. In this paper, we extend the regularized channel inversion technique developed for the single-antenna user case to multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channels with multiple-antenna users. We first employ the multiuser preprocessing to project the multiuser signals near the null space of the unintended users based on the MMSE criterion, and then the single-user preprocessing is applied to the decomposed MIMO interference channels. In order to reduce the complexity, we focus on non-iterative solutions for the multiuser transmit beamforming and use a linear receiver based on an MMSE criterion. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms existing joint iterative algorithms in most multiuser configurations.

  • Conventional decoding procedures have some problems in order to obtain reconstructed images with high speed. In this paper, the solutions of these are studied and a new fast decoding algorithm is proposed. The proposed algorithm uses a convergence criterion that is used to reduce the redundant iteration in the conventional method and to determine continuation of decoding. The initical image similar to roiginal image is estimated firstly in this algorithm. From the simulation resuls, the proposed algorithm is able to achieve the reconstructed image within 3-4 iteration under the objective criterion. Without any increment of the memory, the quality of the image reconstructed by the proposed algorithm has same quality asthe conventional method.

  • The problem of optimaizing multiframe targe detection (MFTD) performance si discussed. The MFTD problem is treated as a multiple hypothesis desision problem, and a ne optimality criterion for the MFTD problem is established. It is of Neyman-Pearson (NP) type which is extended to multiple hypothesis cases. An optimal solution with respect tot eh established criterion is derived, and also proposed is a suboptimal solution which reduces the compelexity accompanying the optimal one. The trade-off between the reduction of complexity and the amount of loss in the detection performance is also studied. The proposed algorithm is applied to an active sonar system and the performance is evaluated via Monte-Carlo simulations.

  • The constant modulus algorithm (CMA) widely used in blind equalization applications minimizes the averaged power of constant modulus error (CME) defined as the difference between an instant output power and a constant modulus. In this paper, a decision feedback version of the linear blind algorithm based on maximization of the zero-error probability for CME is proposed. The Gaussian kernel of the maximum zero-error criterion is analyzed to have the property to cut out excessive CMEs that may be induced from severely distorted channel characteristics. Decision feedback approach to the maximum zero-error criterion for CME is developed based on the characteristic that the Gaussian kernel suppresses the outliers and this prevents error propagation to some extent. Compared to the linear algorithm based on maximum zero-error probability for CME in the simulation of blind equalization environments, the proposed decision feedback version has superior performance enhancement particularly in cases of severe channel distortions.

  • Sample size determination is very important part in clinical trials because it influences the time and the cost of the experimental studies. In this article, we consider the Bayesian methods for sample size determination based on hypothesis testing. Specifically we compare the usual Bayesian method using Bayes factor with the decision theoretic method using Bayesian reference criterion in mean difference problem for the normal case with known variances. We illustrate two procedures numerically as well as graphically.

  • This paper proposes a multiple time-series model with dummy variables for one-hour ahead load forecasting. We used 11 dummy variables that were classified by day characteristics such as day of the week, holiday, and special holiday. Also, model specification and selection of input variables including dummy variables were made by test statistics such as AIC(Akaike Information Criterion) and t-test statistics of each coefficient. OLS (Ordinary Least Squares) method was used for estimation and forecasting. We found out that model specifications for each hour are not identical usually at 30% of optimal significance level, and dummy variables reduce the forecasting error if they are classified properly. The proposed model has much more accurate estimates in forecasting with less MAPE (Mean Absolute Percentage Error).
