Information Retrieval: A Communication Process in the 21st Century Library

  • Communication is a process involving a group of interrelated elements working together for the purpose of information transfer. This paper discusses information retrieval as a communication process in the 21st century library. The difficulties associated with access to recorded knowledge through bibliographic control devices have been exacerbated by the interposition of additional encoding processes in the library and further decoding by the users. In addition, the innovation of internet/web has revolutionized the means and mode of communication process in the library by flooding information seekers with information and creating an illusion of self-sufficiency in many users. With these changes in information seeking behaviour and pattern, a cybernetic approach to information retrieval has emerged emphasizing adaptive control mechanisms and feedback processes. This paper argues that libraries should strive to continuously remain relevant by keeping abreast with changes in the behavior of information users. To this end, this paper proposes apomediatic-cybernetic model of communication, which illustrates information retrieval processes for the 21st-century library.

The Correlation between information Processing type and mathematical communication abilities / word Problem solving abilities (정보처리 양식에 따른 수학적 의사소통 능력과 문장제 해결능력과의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the The correlation between information processing types and mathematical communication abilities / word problem solving abilities. The results obtained are as follows: 1 Simultaneous/continuous information process types showed statistically high correlation with mathematical communication abilities. However, the correlation between simultaneous information process and mathematical communication abilities is a little higher than the correlation between continuous information process and mathematical communication abilities. 2. There is a high correlation between mathematical communication abilities and word problem solving abilities. Especially, speaking ability is much more correlated with four factors of word problem solving than reading, writing and listening, Through this study, we can conclude that information process types should be consider ed in order to improve mathematical communication abilities and mathematical communication abilities is essential in word problem solving.

  • 편재형 컴퓨팅 환경에서는 사용자의 요구와 환경에 맞춰 다양한 디바이스가 하나의 가상 머신처럼 동작할 수 있다. 이때 하나의 디바이스가 결함이 발생하면 서비스를 제공하는 것이 불가능하다. 결함이 발생할 경우 가장 좋은 해결책은 디바이스를 재가동하는 것이지만 이 경우 서비스 제공에 끊김이 발생한다. 이 논문에서는 서비스를 끊임없이 제공하기 위하여 컨텍스트 재구성 방법을 제안한다.

  • Smart railway system, which has been actively studied in recent years, is entering the intelligent stage beyond the automation stage based on ICT (Information & Communication Technology) such as communication technology and information technology. ICT technology used in smart railways is generally supported by various information protection technologies as it is vulnerable to information infringement. As a means of high-speed/mass transportation, it is essential to devise an information protection plan for ICT technology that forms the basis for smartening the railway system. Therefore, this paper presents the necessity of step-by-step information protection that measures for smart railway communication by examining potential risk factors of smart railway communication base and considering information protection factors that can respond to them.

  • 지금까지 전통음악분야의 현대적 구현은 민간 연주자들에 의하여 음악을 계승 발전시켜왔다. 특히 농악놀이에 현대적 해석을 가미한 사물놀이는 전통음악 현대화의 일등공신이다. 그러나 전통문화에 대한 공학적 분석은, 에밀레종의 맥놀이 분석, 징의 RIM깊이에 따른 음향의 변화 등 다양한 분야에서 이루어지고 있으나, 전통문화와 IT의 융합은 접근하는 사례가 전무한 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 전통음악을 현대화시킨 사물놀이를 사물놀이 고유의 풍모를 살린 전통인형과 함께 임베디드 시스템으로 제작하고, 사물놀이 연주가 수록된 정간보를 디지털악보로 변환하여 악보 내용을 바탕으로 사물놀이 인형들이 각각 사물놀이 악기를 연주하여 사물놀이 본연의 조화를 이룰 수 있는 시스템을 구현하였다.

  • This paper proposes maximum torque control of IPMSM drive using Adaptive Fuzzy-Neuro controller and artificial neural network(ANN). The hybrid combination of neural network and fuzzy control will produce a powerful representation flexibility and numerical processing capability. This paper proposes the analysis results to verify the effectiveness of the Adaptive Fuzzy-Neuro and ANN controller.

  • The Internet has made a huge impact on the way we, as humans, communicate. During the last decade a series of new communication mediums have emerged and communication protocols have come and gone. This puts new requirements on the development process and architecture of the communication platforms, operated by communities, in order to proactively ensure support for future communication protocols. Even further, additional requirements are added when the software itself will be maintained by a community. In this paper we explore the world of Open Source Software. We present our suggestions of usable design-principles and our process in developing a sustainable information system.
